Arthur only genuinely laughs once through the film and it was in the end while talking to the psychiatrist. This contradicts with his mother saying he was a happy boy, in reality he was always feeling the intense sadness result in uncontrollable laughter and his mother misinterpreted this. 7. Joker is ambidextrous but primarily using his left hand during sinister acts example pulling a trigger and writing his journal entries 8. When Arthur laughs he can be seen sometimes scratching or holding his neck, this may be related to abuse he faced by his mother's boyfriend as a child to stop his laughter. Somewhere during the movie it was mentioned he was chained to a radiator and this may have been by his neck
Egad, how did I miss the rat in that phone booth scene?!? However, I *did* see the two rats running behind the Wayne family "tableau" that we see at the end after Arthur says he was just thinking of a joke....
I think that the scene where this Joker was being taken away in a cop car is an homage to Heath Ledger's Joker when he was also being taken away in a cop car. Their posture leaning on the window whilst looking out, the way the angle is setup, and they were both being driven away in the middle of the city filled with street lights.
There's a scene in The Dark Knight Returns where Joker is on a talk show (after year of catatonia), and kisses an older woman who is also a guest on the show. I believe she was a sexual psychiatrist or something like that, but I do know he killed her with the poisoned lipstick he was wearing.
I think the moment I most connected with this character was when he exclaimed to Thomas his father ( which from the clues I believe he is.) He just wanted a little warmth and affection. "Why is everyone so rude?" I really felt that line with today's society. We're so....self important.
I noticed in the scene where he writes "people expect you to behave as if you don't". He writes that left handed but right before that he's writing right handed.
When Arthur has a the photograph of a lady that seems to be his mom and it the back of it says: I love your smile. TW (Thomas Wayne). He crumbled it up.
I saw this today with my dad i brought up the same thing and said is he really his dad and my dad thinks it could be her that wrote it on the back as part of her fantasy
@Not so Yummy mummy -I agree with your dad. The handwriting on the back of that photo is similar to Penny's handwriting in the letter to Thomas Wayne that Arthur reads.
Bonus feats on the DVD were worth the buy. I won't spoil it but I was pleasantly surprised they showed some alternate footage when Phillips stated prior he was against it. I think he did it for Joaquin tho.. there's a certain scene he said wasn't his favorite take and seeing the alternates was an awesome insight into his process as well as a few more moments with a Joker we've come to love.
My Theorie about the way cleaner hallway of Arkham Asylum, yes Asylum is that they aren't the same place. That the Arkham Asylum exists in the Movie but we don't get to really see it except in the end and in the scene when he bangs his head against the door. So i think after he got out of Asylum he still visited the state hospital for the suffering of his mental illness and after the death of murray he got brought back to the Asylum
Spoiler... maybe... My theory... he killed Sophie, which orphaned her daughter, and in the impoverished city, it forces her to live on the streets, probably getting comfort from cats, and she will grow up to be Cat Woman. (Zoe Kravitz)

I'm not sure people can always point to the walls of the hospital as a clue because that hospital had more than one floor. If you've ever been to an actual hospital you will find there are also many wings to a hospital. Just because he was in one floor when he was running doesn't mean he was on the very same floor at the end of the movie. What if he was just on another floor in a newer part of the hospital, like a recent addition?

Arthur Fleck didn't purchase the gun. Randall gave it to him, otherwise Randall would not have gone to Arthur's apartment accompanied by Gary, to make sure their stories lined up with the cops regarding the gun. If Randall wasn't involved in it, he wouldn't care about the cops asking him questions.
