If Joaquin Phoenix Doesn’t Win Best Actor, Then This World Is A Joke
Well, the world already is

The place where Arthur did his stand up was called Pogo’s, which was John Wayne Gacy’s clown name. That definitely should have been on this list.
It should have been. Instead of the orange man bad plug.
Well they had room for only ten and they had to make one up to take a jab at President Trump. Whom, I’ve never seen look down on his staff or treat them poorly having met him at his hotel Chicago several times. Always been good to them.
Anyway, I thought that was a good catch. I didn’t think anything of it till you brought it up. Joker, the killer clown. Gacy the killer clown named Pogo. That couldn’t have been a coincidence.
Another RUclips channel mentioned it.
They must have.... missed it.. "badum tsss"
but instead they took a jab at trump
Did anyone else noticed that when Arthur had a bad thought he wrote it in his journal with his left hand and every other Entry was with his right
Is this true? I didnt notice that
rivaldy haldianto yea! I noticed it when he was alone at the dinner table
Ok.....so I wasn’t imagining things
He usually writes with left hand actually. When he was taking down notes in the comedy bar as well as when he wrote the phrase "people expect you to behave as if you dont" and on the mirror in his waiting room in murray's show, the handwrtiting is similar to that phrase meaning he also wrote it with his left hand.
The only time, as far as i can remember, that he wrote using his right hand was the phrase "the worst part about having mental illness"
He uses his right hand on other occasions too tho like wheb he was painting his face with white, when he stabbed the guy using scissors and some scenes he was smoking cigarettes
I can write with both hands at the same time. But the left hand would be the MIRROR image of my right hand. Can write with left hand alone if I had to but not preference more right handed. Also can write with both hands simultaneously. Anyway when people do everyday activities, type, play musical instruments etc they are using both hands
This is a movie worth seeing more times than necessary
I've seen it twice already 😂 considering a third
So are we!
Seen it twice so far!

SPOILER ALERT:
So no one else thinks the way he grabs the camera after killing Murray and bringing it really close to his face is a slight little calling to the scene in The Dark Knight where the Joker brings the camera really close to his face as well? Might have just been me.
Ricardo Brites THAT’S LIFE! 🃏
I also noticed that
Doesnt he also say "To put" then cuts out? I really thought that was close to Heath Ledger's "Let's put a smile on that face"
the whole talk show segment reminded me of the dark knight returns where he appears on a talk show after being given a clean bill of health, and used it as a means to murder his therapist on screen and infect the live audience with his joker venom
Also when he is arrested and sitting in the back seat of the police car watching the riots...it really reminded me of dark knight when the joker was leaning out of the car window

It does not look like Thomas Wayne was close to Donald Trump. Actually, his actions could be interpreted as good or evil, according with you believe who is talking the truth: Thomas Wayne or Joker`s mother. If you assume he is talking the truth, so he is a good man, trying to protect and think the best of his own employees and also pissed because someone was messing with his son.
I preffer this interpretation than thinking otherwise.
His "clowns" comment is similar to Hillary's "basket of deplorables" line.
@@danielplainview2584 so?
Daniel Plainview Not that it particularly matters but, there was a difference Hillary at least said only a specific faction of his supporters were that. Thomas Wayne just went and called all disenfranchised poor people clowns.
I agree, that was a very far reach.
My only issue with 'Joker' was how everyone seemed to be uncaring or hostile to Arthur including Thomas Wayne.
I hope we later find Arthur was unable to process empathy and compassion from others and not that it was just a cruel cold world.
FYI other than that I love this movie. It was enthralling to watch.

"Oh, I remembered a joke".
"Wanna share it with me?"
(scene of Bruce Wayne's parents shot dead in the alley)
"Nope. You wont understand it".
When the biggest joke is that he inadvertently created his nemesis, Batman......
Nah the joke is the whole movie, as you can see he's retelling a twisted story he thought up of himself, while he has been in the asylum the whole time.
No, the joke is life.
U can see the song plays "it's life"
Just after he tells you won't get it
ALEXANDER. The joke was on US for " believing" his sad backstory and everything that followed. Inside joke with a hearty laugh she won't get it, because she didn't hear it. He's LAUGHING at the audience. A real HEARTY LAUGH. It was supposed to be a single standalone story not a Joker story.
@@harishankar8977 NEXT time you see that REAL HEARTY LAUGH, that LAUGH is for YOU and the audience. That was the biggest INSIDE joke of the film. Phillips even admitted it. Jokes on you all. Jokes on you anyway because it's FILMMAKING involving a fictional character. PS THAT'S LIFE is the song title, not ITS LIFE.
Did he kill the woman?
1. "If you're happy and you know it, stomp your feet"; this song plays when Arthur goes home at one point in the film. We later see him stomping his feet when he's dancing down the stairs at at the end of the film after killing the psychiatrist. Additionally, one of the lines from That's Life by Sinatra says "some people get their kicks stompin' on a dream". Arthur's mumbling of the song at the end of the film represents how he's broken down to that level.
2. Bruce and Arthur have incredibly similar outfits at the gate meeting, right down to the colors of their clothes. Nice catch on #1, they have incredibly similar skin tones as well.
3. The "T" in the penny photograph from Thomas Wayne's initials is written differently than the way she writes her T's in the letter to Thomas Wayne.
4. Thomas Wayne's "clowns" comments towards the poor are more reminiscent of Hillary's "basket of deplorables" comment.
5. Alfred winks after telling Arthur that he doesn't want to "look like a fool", implying that they have the power to do so.
6. A more obvious one - Arthur is miserable in the bus at the beginning looking out the window despite being a free man. In the end, he's looking out a window and happy despite being literally imprisoned in police custody.
7. The way Arthur looks down creepily when his mother locks herself in the bathroom, distraught with her hand on her head, is almost shot for shot copied from the Shining.
8. The super rats/cats joke at the beginning represents how Batman will eventually rise up to deal with Joker.
9. In addition to the actual trash building up, Arthur mentions being treated like trash in his monologue and how everyone would "walk right by"
if he were dying on the street.
10. The majority of joker is dark, rainy, and smoggy. However, like the Dean Martin song Smile, it begins to brighten up once Arthur embraces the Joker character and his own perversion of smiling.
Thats awesome,
So you mean that Bruce is actually the younger version of Arthur and he later changed his name to Arthur or something
I actually didn't understand the super rats/cats one

This is an incredible film, saw it a second time, did anyone else notice a countdown in the film. The number 8 is on Sophie's door as it closes, 7 in the stairwell in Arkham, 6 is the train station platform when Arthur is being chased, 5 I didn't see, 4 was over Murray's shoulder outside Arthur's dressing room, 3 was a TV camera, 2 a TV news channel seen and unfortunately I didn't notice number 1. There is actually a lot connecting Chaplin and the Joker. When he tells his mom about how he was confused about his life being either a tragedy or a comedy, he was also paraphrasing Charlie Chaplin who once said "life is a tragedy in close up and a comedy in long shot."
And the Oscar goes to Joaquin Phoenix.
Sadly it probably wont because this movie really hammered the idea that the media is a biased piece of shit. And we all know the liberal media hates that shit cuz thats not their agenda. I hope he does but i wont be surprised if not. Sad!
Anyone see the "Ace in the Hole" billboard near the end of the film (same words joker says at the end of The Dark Knight).

I'm not sure about that Trump relation.

Myself, I didn't see a connection. But my wife, who is a Trump voter, told me she thought Wayne was written as a Trump allegory. So maybe neither of us saw it, but some people did.
You hear about some random lad coming to the gate of your house. He grabs your son and sticks his fingers in the childs mouth to make him smile. This same lad tries to strangle your buttler through the bars of your front gate. The following night you're with your wife to see a film and this lad appears behind you in the bathroom behind you, calling you "Daddy". How would you react?
Thomas Wayne is not portrayed as a prick, his reactions are completely reasonable and relatable. The film does not try to bring on his politics either. Maybe he was an imperialist capitalist..(whatever that is) or maybe he really did want to help the city of Gothem.
We're seeing it all from the perspective of a man with completely negative thoughts. Perhaps he's imagined a negative conversation with everyone he met? Perhaps they are pricks? The only message is that the joker really needed some help and attention.
I'm sick and tired of people trying to put a political slant on this piece of art. The film is better than that.
@@maidhcdemoinbhiol6017 I totally agree and have defended Thomas before. He did what most fathers would do to some weirdo stalking his kid and thinking he's your son, from Thomas' perspective. I appreciate that nothing Wayne did revealed affiliation with politics so as to distract from the film. It was a wise choice
Thomas Wayne is Arthur’s father. He had an affair with Penny. He didn’t want to claim him so he continuously denied that Arthur was his son. While Penny tried desperately for him to acknowledge his son, Thomas just made her seem crazy, had her checked into a mental health facility, had other people conclude she was crazy, etc. He basically tricked her into signing legal forms that made Arthur seem adopted. Thomas is a billionaire and has political pull, so it’s not a stretch to think he wouldn’t do this “corrupt” act to save his face (his image, his wife). This parallels to Trump/Stormi.
Give Joaquin Phoenix the Oscar !!!

I think they might have saved the DCEU with this one. Best movie of the year. Possibly the best comic book film ever made
the crow show good way to end the decade
I beg to differ! This is the single most inaccurate representation of a comic book charecter, let alone a fan favourite. No doubt the movie puts forward a compelling story of how society can break a person and turns into antisocial and psychotic and also Joaquin Phoenix was incredible with the material he was given. But this is not Joker. The Joker is this brilliant, cunning, manipulative, unpredictable person who is always 5 steps ahead of even Batman. Arthur Fleck was simply none. He can't stand a chance against batman. You can name the movie Clown and there won't be any difference. Except for the boxoffice collections as the title Joker (DC) would bring a lot of people to the theaters. In the end it is a story of a miserable clown with bad upbringing and mental disability finding strength under a mask when embraced by people. With few names like Wayne thrown in mix and naming the city Gotham, was depicted as a comic book charecter.
Some might say it's a fresh take on the character and some that this is origin story and that he will grow into the shoes of Joker. But even if it a fresh take on a character, you can't completely take away essence of the character and say its the same. You can change the backdrop and story but not the qualities that define the character. And those who support the second theory, a person can change in many ways but not his IQ, EQ and ability to comprihend a complex situation and comeup with a crazy idea to overcome it in seconds. You can't be a dud and then drastically turn into a criminal mastermind.
This movie was so creepy, my mother walked out of the theater during the first several minutes.
Don’t worry, though. She came back to see the end of the film and I turned 23 in August 2019.

@@jasonshannon8708 Lol I just love how much effort people put into analyzing these movie xD
Maybe he just wrote that as a flirt, and then she took it way too far? Its many ways this can be interpreted. Its why I like this movie so much.
Thats why it leads me to believe that Thomas really was Arthur's father. If you look at it logically, no state will let someone adopt a child if they aren't financially able to support the kid (obviously Penny wasn't) and they definitely wouldn't let someone who isn't mentally stable adopt a kid because they do excessive psych screenings
Keatan Penny was working for the waynes the time she supposely adopted Arthur, so she had good income. Also she was not in Arkham state hospital before the abuse started, and at the time she adopted him there wasnt really much psych screenings at the time like today. However the adoption papers could have easily been forged by the waynes. They have so much power.
In the end I dont think we really can conclude that one theory is false or not. The movie makes great effort into making it a mystery as to who Arthur really is and where he comes from, just like Joker is supposed to. If you think he really is waynes son, thats just as correct as any other theory. Truth is we just dont know.
It's very heavily hinted that Arthur is in fact related to Wayne, when Arthur finds the picture of his mother with the scription "Love your smile. TW" on the back. Plotwise it makes sense to - the futile murder of his own mother over misunderstandings and lies. He ended up mistrusting her like everyone else. Where does a son like him go from there? Other than crazy?
im guessing people didnt get the reference when thomas wayne said only cowards hide behind a mask

These lefties see Trump behind every tree and in every closet.
One of the main things I liked about this movie was that by the end you didn't know the creators' political views.
@@samuelgrant8512 unless he/she is an anarchist.
Well now I know your political views, and you make me sick
I saw this movie on my birthday and it was great 👍
Did anyone noticed that when the joker was face painting himself he was holding a picture of his mom and written on the back ‘ I love you , T.W ‘
Tom Waits
sooo good!
A great video on a great film.
I was saying when I was watching the movie and they were getting to the bit about Thomas being Arthur's father, its not impossible. Look up Thomas Wayne Jr. He did have another son who became a supervillain.
Lジェイ they didn’t deny it either even after proving he was A word (because I don’t wanna spoil it)
@@haileenunez3472 adopted?
cap alot hard ona laptop I will not be called a spoiler
Hush
Another thing, which is missing: Joker kisses a woman in Murray Franklins Show. That's another hint to The Dark Knight Returns, where the Joker is also a guest at a late night show, where he kisses a woman but with his Joker-Poison on his lips. (and he also kills the whole audience in the comics by the way)
This movie was incredibly well done. Different and outstanding.
I can’t stop thinking about this brilliant film. It’s unlike any other comic book movie I’ve ever seen before, it’s not a mindless action flick like most of them are, however I’m glad it’s based on a comic book character, because it means more people are going to see it. This is a heartbreaking story of a man that was abused, neglected, deceived and bullied his entire life and the character development, cinematography and acting in this film is just superb!
Still no one mention about the last scene where Joaquin’s Joker licked his lips, a strong reference to Ledger’s Joker
*Joker Exists*
Watchmojo: It's free real estate
So glad you guys caught the Ethan Chase/Due Date reference I thought I was the only one
The subtly in this film is wonderful - Arthur helps his mum out of bed, and bathes her, but she's not an invalid; she dances with him, puts herself to bed and runs into the bathroom when he's angry. Her control over him is linked to the narcissistic personality disorder which we discover in her files. I thought it the behaviour was a plot hole at first, but nope! Brilliant!
How to know if you’re as depressed as the joker:
If you laughed at the joke a the beginning of the video
“Will my death make more cents than me being alive”
Something like that I forgot how it goes lol
Your english is horrible
*Edit: wow you edited and got It right this time making me look like an asshole. Smart move 😂
Your first try was barely english
That’s the way the Joker writes in the movie
Gé Rosalem Idiot.
Gé Rosalem watch the movie, you twit.
@@johndotcom9648 you are the idiot, he edited! he originally wrote something totally different that didn't make any sense
Also, Art the clown.
Also, reminescence of tdk in Subway camera takes and a few tones in music at those takes.
Also, pogo the clown.
Also, fight club.
Also, this film is amazing.
Spoiler: I was waiting on 'joker killing The Waynes' and the pearl necklace reference like Tim Burton's Batman
You guys should do a Top 10 Most evil laugh of all time 👍
Mark Hamil takes top spot
Big ooph with the politics
A great video about a great movie.
I watched Joker today. I had no expectations going in and I really enjoyed it. Joaquin (who I am not normally a fan of) was amazing. I implore everybody, don't base your opinions on review scores without seeing it. I'll end by saying it is this years must see movie.
"If I have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice."
I love this quote
Those files were doctored. WAYNE IS Flecks father.
That's how i viewed it too. Thomas Wayne was a prick who had his mistress committed when she got pregnant and faked all the papers.
They need to go on Maury and do a DNA test
Did you notice in one scene where joker is holding a photo of his mother when she was younger and on the back it said something like “ I really like your smile here” or something along those lines and it was signed TW aka Thomas Wayne
2:25 "The Kane Connection"
Says this while playing a clip that references Citizen Kane.
Nice touch, Mojo.
Joker carrying this channel now😂😂
😆 every chance to jab at the United States president with your opinion, you guys are something else.
Why did they show a clip of Djimon Housou when they were talking about Brian Tyree Henry???????
I'm surprised no one else is pointing that out. They don't even look like each other.
@@StuntzMcKenzy2D haha they just thought "he is black"
Can’t wait anymore to see what happens next... please make joker 2 and release it ASAP
A little easter egg i noticed: in one of the talk show snippets murray introduces an actor called “Ethan Chase“, which was the real life name of Zach Galifianakis Role of an unsuccessful actor in Philips movie Due date
This video was the equivalent of “why did the author make the curtains blue?”
What about when he was in that girls apartment and said "I had a bad day"? Thats ripped right out The Killing Joke.
The way he backs up putting the mask on in the subway reminds me of the way heath ledger's joker backs up when he causes chaos. Like at the robbery or when he fought batman on the roof
The picture he arthur was holding of his mother was signed on the back. "You've always had a pretty smile" with the initials TW...
Spoiler alert !
Gotcha! I'm not gonna spoil this movie ! Have a great day !
Okay then
Why would anyone come to this video if they want to avoid spoilers
Arthur Smothers his mother and then shoots Murry in the face
@@theguywhoisaustralian1465 good job! Mate !
Akash 47 you're asking for people to actually spoil it
We live in a society where media is constantly trying to compare things to Trump
Wow watchmojo! You're so creative! 4:10 hahahaha
How many joker video?
I am loving it
