Having watched a few of the Bluebird variations on youtube I dont think any of the others come close to the perfection of this one. its utterly charming and very beautiful
+Silkspinner Yes I also agree. Look at those precise footwork and beautiful lines, proper placing of arms and Campbell's port de bras are so cute. Hihihi
I love the clarity of the steps, every flicker of the feet is defined but without any sense of hurrying. It seems like they could stay in that position for as long as they wanted and it was a beautifully synchronised partnership between two exquisite dancers!
TheSunnyDay2013 In a way, it could be a race, against time. A dancer’s career is very short and is further fraught with many opportunities to incur career-ending injuries. Yuhui Choe may very well enjoy what she does, but if her aspirations are to attain principal dancer or prima ballerina status at the Royal Ballet, she has a very limited window in which to reach it. God speed her towards a promotion to Principal.
I think the problem is that she is an extraordinary Ashton interpreter and the fact that the best Ashtonian ballerina is not promoted to principle in a company that Sir Frederick Ashton was the founder choreographer of doesn't make sense. She is an amazing dancer and I'm sure she would do excellent in more dramatic roles like Giselle or even a McMillan ballet like Romeo and Juliet if given the chance.
this is the loveliest version of bluebird duet i have ever seen. They are a perfect combination. I have seen them both many times and at last Alexander cambell is a principle,. I know hes small but his proportions are perfect and he is a gorgeous dancer.
This is such a joy to watch. The intro by the Alexander was spectacular--just like a bluebird! The movements were sharp, energetic, and consistent. I also love that he and Yuhui partnered really well and complemented each other--their pas was just a delight to behold! They both give each other ample time to shine and I love their partnering, but Alex is all about that zenith. :)
i know everyone loves yuhui here, but you honestly got to love the guy here too. I mean I've seen many men in ballet jump so high that they could actually just hover and fly, but it just never fails to amaze me everytime. he's truly like a blue bird!!
I’ve watched this so many times now. This is my favorite bluebird pdd coda I’ve ever seen. No one matches their technique or grace. Just so beautiful 💕
Saw live from paris last year. Yuhui is amazing. She's expressive, and SHE CONTROLS THE MUSIC, NOT THE MUSIC CONTROLS HER. You would feel like dancing together with her. Why is she still not a principle??
I do so enjoy watching Alexander dance. But I love Sleeping Beauty more; he's got an athleticism that doesn't *quite* fit the character of the Bluebird. It worked really well for his Mercutio, though. More Alexander, please!
My absolute favorite I have loved this duet for years and years and even got to learn it a few years ago, the music never ceases to put a smile on my face thank you for uploading!
I wouldn't call her underrated, she's a First Soloist in one of the world's greatest companies! The ROB already has seven female principles of the highest calibre, maybe there is just not another place for an eighth right now. Yuhui Choe is a truly great dancer and I enjoy her dancing a lot. But to me she's not as expressive as all of the principles are and that's for me an essential part of being a principle. They're ALL incredible actresses. Choe is charming but in my opinion doesn't convey a character like the others who are incredibly versatile.
I think her lack of expression may be due to the fact that she usually isn't given very emotionally heavy roles to begin with. We often see her in solos like this which are classical but don't have a character with feelings and a storyline on top. For example she did the pas de trois in Swan Lake and the pas de six in Giselle. Both roles are mostly based on technique. But I'm sure we would see her express her emotions better if she was dancing Giselle, Myrtha or Odette/Odile etc. I saw her do a pas de deux from Ondine and for a moment couldn't believe it was her I was watching. It was so emotional and her expressiveness was on point. I can only hope she gets promoted. She deserves it in my opinion.
Yes, you're right, that could be a reason. But I saw her in Don Quixote as one of Kitri's two friends and I still have to say that I didn't see a lot of change in her expressions. Do you know if I can find the Ondine Pdd somewhere? But anyway, everyone's opinion is bound to be subjective, what is obvious though is that she's an exquisite dancer and if she's lucky to get promoted, it'll be well deserved.
She played odette/odile when she was a guest of the Korean ballet. You should see her! There are videos on RUclips and she most certainly didn't lack expression in them.
I sometimes think to myself, the genius of Petipa’s choreography has been waiting for this generation to come along. No offense intended to any of my colleagues nor those who came before us, but kids today! I’m telling you; steps that not too long ago were considered virtuosic goals are now merely back-pocket skills to this generation. When they get their hands on classic material like this it really shines. Love it.
Omg! The way he does those cabrioles! I hate cabrioles...mostly because i can't do them right xD they are so hard! I can't keep my back leg straight...

Anything with Alexander Campbell in a pair of tights makes my panties drop to the floor.
Watch Nina Kaptsova bluebird variation and sugarplum and you’ll be amazed
amazing!!!! the guy seemed to be flying just like a bluebird
Yes!
.
He's just fantastic.
Yes, I sometimes think he is a bluebird
Promote Yuhui Choe already. She deserves it.

yuhui - most underrated roh ballerina - make her a principal already!!!

It’s been 10 years, yet I am still coming back here watching Yuhui gently fly.
the perfection on Alexander Cambell technique is unbelievable. what a joy to watch it
Yuhui is so classical... I want to be like her. Her arms and precision, I love it.
Yuhui and Alexander are such a good pair!
Of all the bluebird variations I’ve seen, this one is definitely my favorite. The lightness and timing was so perfect. Beautiful!
Extra shout-out to Alex for that opening, my stamina hurts just watching that entrance!
this is the loveliest version of bluebird duet i have ever seen. They are a perfect combination. I have seen them both many times and at last Alexander cambell is a principle,. I know hes small but his proportions are perfect and he is a gorgeous dancer.
Yuhui looks so cheery and happy to be there dancing :D
Yuhui Choe is my favourite dancer :D
If this doesn't bring a smile to your face I don't know what would. Very fine dancers and well executed throughout!
Agree. I've watched this countless times and I grin every time.

Yuhui is such a delicate and adorable ballerina. Love her. Really want to see more of her performance here in this channel.
i love yuhui, such an amazing dancer. I hope she gets promoted soon !
Me too, lord knows why she hasn't been!! Well, at least Alex was, but it seems he's no longer partnered with her. Too bad, they're wonderful together.
So incredible. Some of the best dancing I’ve ever seen.
Yuhui is so flawless!!!!!
Yuhui Choe!! Love her dancing!
Alexander has such grace in his dancing!! Also the softest arms I've seen on a male dancer!!! Perfect for the role!!
The bluebird is my favourite! she looks just glorious in the role.
I’ve watched this so many times now. This is my favorite bluebird pdd coda I’ve ever seen. No one matches their technique or grace. Just so beautiful 💕
Promote her already, ROH! :D
Saw live from paris last year. Yuhui is amazing. She's expressive, and SHE CONTROLS THE MUSIC, NOT THE MUSIC CONTROLS HER. You would feel like dancing together with her. Why is she still not a principle??
PERFECTLY MATCHED

His opening sequence ... was really incredible.
oops sorry....my only complaint is its brevity...I wanted it to go on and on. A joy to watch.
The dancers get tired you know
Lolapoka you need to chill
Lolapoka i think it was a joke lmao

No unfortunately, I've searched the video everywhere. I saw it as a part of a Royal Ballet live stream a couple months ago.
Okay, thanks for answering!

Wonderful 🤩

Best duo ever
This was amazing, and mind blowing. I was supposed to dance to this, but sadly had to quit ballet. But what a marvellous piece...
I love the ending!
I love the princess dress! I even love the bluebirds outfit!
Yuhui is divine...
Absolutely adore this footage!
I've never watched ballet before but I love it!

Número que vayan nib
I am glad I was able to execute this perfectly as a 14 year old, really opens up more opportunities especially with variations.
He is incredible and also he was a cricket’s player.Stunning blue bird🦋🌷🎶🙏🎵
how does alexander campbell is fly? omg and look at yuhui's gorgeous lines
Seeing the live screening of this in March, very excited!
VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!! EXCELLENT WORK!! BEAUTIFUL! THANK YOU! BLESSINGS!!
Eu amo ballet, é muito lindo !!!!!❤😊
これを見てこのパドドゥを覚えました。バレエは辞めてしまったけど、久しぶりに見てもう1回踊りたくなりました!
Best I've seen. So fluid.
This was super fun to write for saxophone. Hard playing in-between each part. Might do a quarter, but strings sound best.
Really good. I do ballet myself and can see that they are fabulous dancers.
Sleeping beauty
It is fantastic.
I have watched this about a hundred times
something about ballet videos just calms me down.
Fantastic! Bravo!
This is amazingly perfect
So perfect!
Excellent!
one of my fav pas de deux

This makes me smile every time I watch it : )
I love how in sync they are
Wow! That's really amazing!
Amazing! Loved it!
Nobody compares to these two
Amazing.!!
Marvellous!
they seemed both like birds i love this variation❤️
I love this rhythm and how do they dance it I always hear it I love it so much
Most certainly need to watch this!!
two pretty hummingbirds!!
That looks exhausting for Bluebird!
yess..too slow.. and a Little havys..
The video's title should specify this is the coda, not the full pas de deux. It would be nice to see the rest of it.
Omg! The way he does those cabrioles! I hate cabrioles...mostly because i can't do them right xD they are so hard! I can't keep my back leg straight...
