- The Detail Guardz Turbine Dirt Lock Wash Bucket Insert utilizes the motion of your hand to engage the guard's turbine induction. This means the dirt is forced through the Venturi funnels blasting dirt to the bottom of the bucket. In short...every time you pump your hand in the bucket, water is automatically filtered.

One bucket/multiple mitts.....Two bucket method with grit guard. Which do you use?
Apex Detail one bucket/multi mitt I use. No scratch or swirl. Plus foam cannon too.
1 bucket, multiple wash pads and foam gun
Apex Detail one bucket, 5 mitts
One bucket.
Apex Detail one bucket, mitts, foam lance.
Neat to see how these work with a clear bucket!
a different perspective.
Thanks for the review. Had this in my amazon cart for a while, now happily able to pull the trigger on this guard.
Does it matter if the grid is perfectly snug? Or all it matters is that it's in there and you can rub the mitt on it so the dirt will fall through?
I appreciate all of your videos. When you wash your microfiber towels that you use for compound and polish removal, do you put them all in the washer at the same time, or do you do separate loads of laundry separating the towels by their function to avoid potential cross contamination of different grits? Also, when you wash your wash mits do you separately wash the ones that you use for the dirtier areas from the ones used for the cleaner areas such as the hood, roof etc.? Thank you.
I separate them due to function. As for wash mitts...I rinse all of them with a pressure washer then wash them all together.
Hell of a review Brian. Thanks allot for demonstrating this product to us always appreciated for what you do.
Thanks Mario!
Hi Brian, so you’re not supposed to rub the mitt against the guard, instead pump it up and down?
Pretty cool! I like the fact that it snugs and hugs the bucket very well. Great video liked the clear bucket as well you see everything.
It does.. and the clear bucket is a tad wider than others.
@@apexdetail85 Apex where did you get that clear bucket? Its very hard to find clear buckets you know
Best visual I’ve seen as to what happens with the grit guard in a rinse bucket. Of course it’s worse with no pre wash or snow foam but still ... makes one wonder.
Yeah...thought the skipping of the pre wash would dramatize things a bit more.
Apex Detail you succeeded!
Great demonstration B!
Thanks!!
Another fun video ! I enjoy your videos so much I hit like before they’ve even started so I don’t forget. Did you mention those clear buckets are for food service in a past video ? I was wondering where to find some
Indeed! Picked them up from a food service supply store nearby.
nice simple video again buddy. I'm like u several mitts 1 bucket...b well work safe buddy 🍻🍻
Take care of those knees Richard!
Their videos sold me, so I ordered 3 for all my buckets to replace my grit guards lol. Tbh I’ve always been skeptical of how much the grit guards prevented debris coming back up. Haven’t received yet so this is going to be fun to watch Brian
sam cas let me know how they work for you.
So what are your thoughts, Sam?
@@bbdetailing9123 i'm still waiting for them to be shipped from canada to australia - they used the cheapest slowest method possible, i literally think it's by ship, it's been over 2 months
@@samcas707 oh wow. By ship! Classic

Seems to work pretty good. Going to try one.
Let me know how it works for you.
Ok ... just bought one. Used your link.
Brian , did you happen to see if the soap bucket had grit in the bottom ? I mean if never fails when I use a two bucket method , use the same mitt the soap bucket gets nasty to ( well cloudy anyhow)
Cloudy yes...did not notice grit in the shampoo bucket.
I would have liked to see how it worked if you used it as directed. Would it have filtered the water as it states? We'll never know!
I didnt have the time to circulate it by pumping it 50 times before each rinse. Maybe one of these RUclipsrs that has no work to do can make a 3hr. wash video.😃
3-4 good pumps will suffice, takes about 10 seconds!
Oh and give your mitt a nice scrub on the rounded fins! :)
I just bought one, thanks for the review and there's a 10% off coupon and $5.00 flat rate shipping. Looks like it's coming out of Canada, maybe they can throw in a box of Tim Bits too!
Klasse Act yup.... just ordered one... and some maple syrup!🥞🍁
Made in Canada guys at our factories :) Tim Bits are extra....
Brian, one thing I like among many about your channel is the product comparisons and competitions you do. Please do a side by comparison in clear buckets of the the Turbine Grit Guard vs. A traditional Grit Guard.
Hahah I thought I needed this but it equals my double grit guard method
One chemical guys with small holes and on top a regular grit guard with bigger openings
Cool demonstration!
Loops And Threads 😁👍🏻
Have you ever tried the Chemical Guys style of grit guard? Looks different but doubt it works better than standard Grit Guard.
Tried them all... yet I stick to the one bucket method.😁
I never understood how these things work. With those gaps in it like that wouldn't the dirt particles just float up through them?
Hi Joel, the funnels are wide on the top and narrow at the bottom. When you push your hand in a downward motion, water & dirt is compressed and sped up through the narrow funnels, much like a garden hose with a jet nozzle on it. You are constantly adding force pushing the debris back down to the bottom trapping the debris out of harms way.
Since the funnels are narrow on the bottom, there is no force pulling the debris back up to re-introduce it in the clear water.
You really only need to pump 3-4 times and takes less than 10 seconds each time you dunk you mitt.
Hence, the Dirt Lock!
Idk though, even still the dirt that is able to float through there will still come up. I mean his water above the guard was looking a little murky, but not as murky as below the guard.
Instead of a side to side motion, if you pump up and down it pushes more Dirt & Debris to the bottom of the bucket and clears up the water. Most of the murky appearance is from things like oil residues, soaps, cleaners ect. It filters the harmful stuff like the dirt, sand, droppings ect... the stuff that will do damage to the delicate paintwork :)
Do the instructions say to pump a multiple of times for effective use?
3-4 pumps will be suffice, less than 10 seconds :)
Oh and give your mitt a nice rub on the rounded fins, will freshen it up each time.
Yes.. turn a simple wash into a 3 hr. Wash. Not practical at all. I think I mentioned it several times?
@@apexdetail85 I kinda would like to see this test again this time using the method as described by the manufacturer. I get that you don't use this wash method but it wasn't tested as it's meant to be used.
I think you get the idea....
Good call skipping the additional "filtration" step Brian. Im sure most people are going to use a quick dunk just like how you did. Sometimes real world work trumps theory. Thanks again!
It would turn it into a 3 hr wash.
Better than grit guard or the same junk?
Seems to keep more dirt below the guard.
Nice! I will have to pick one up! Thanks
Great video B.
Clint L 😁👍🏻
where can i get a clear bucket
I picked mine up from a food storage supply store.
@@apexdetail85 thank you
I honestly don’t understand why anyone uses the 2 bucket method.
Kind of dumb that he washed down to the rocker panel on the driver’s door, which the dirtiest place on a car, put all that dirt in the mitt, then went straight back to the window sill on the door without even turning the mitt over. Two buckets or five mitts won’t help, if you do that.
Yeah I will stick to the one bucket multiple wash mit method thank you though
Sean The Detail Guy 😁👍🏻
The USP of the Dirt Trap is cycloning the dirt to the bottom of the bucket when pushing up and down.
Even if you have no intentions of using the guard as intended by the manufacturer, it would have been nice to still cover that feature in your vid at least for the community.
Thumbs down.
Brian what on earth was this? I am a massive fan of your channel but felt so frustrated/disappointed with this review. That was your perfect opportunity to test the system as instructed by the manufacturer to see if the pumping action clears the water on top. I understand in a shop environment you don't have the time and your existing method is superior. I also understand that you wanted to show the water above it is still cloudy but again you could of done both with the review. Sorry but really feel "cheated" in some way by this.
Wait, wait wait...you don't wet the car down first before introducing the wash media to the paint and glass!!!
I had to pause the video right there and post this 😑
This was a demonstration. Watch his other videos on his "proper" methods
I sprayed it with American Detail Garage Wipe out. before hand...but most of it dried on me before I could get started. It added lubrication.
