  • In this episode, I go on quite the soliloquy about the Headway 40152S battery build decisions I made after lacking parts and being forced to slow down and really think about what I wanted to do.
Normally this time is reserved for Lunch Time on the Air, but I thought I'd just talk about portable power in the form of this great new battery type.
Later, I expound on the second build at home in my ham shack garage.
All-in-all, boring nerd stuff. And not really all that nerdy, either.

Very much enjoyed these videos on your LiFePO4 Battery projects. As many of us out here, Nice getting different variations of the same portable battery concepts. Keep up the nice work Dennis.

Awesome job Dennis. These are absolutely exciting to build and research. I've had a blast learning and sharing.
A few points for you. First, you can pull a continuous 150 amp load out of your small 4S pack. It's only limited by your BMS. A 15ah BP battery has only 30A current continuous. The 45ah version can deliver 450A continuous current. So your little 4S pack their can run two 100 watt radios for field day. 😉, the bigger one can run the entire field day 👍
The idea about paralleling those packs, the small one with the bigger one, is not a good one. We must remember our physics. So we can't put both of those packs in parallel, because they have different capacities. There would be an inrush of current from one into the other, which is a really bad thing.
Thanks for sharing your video with me, and hopefully we'll see fuses and protection over the bus bars, in your next video.

Great video Dennis. This could not be better timed, I’m getting ready to build a battery just like the ones you have made. I’ve watched Julian and Jehu’s videos with a lot of interest for quite a while. As Julian and others comment above, your battery runs cooler and provides much more current than others can provide.
I’m curious of two things. Where did you buy your parts(would you use them again?). And two, would you do it all over again. I understand the batteries are not complete. Ie. fusing and a protective covers.
Great job, I look forward to more lunchtime on the air videos, maybe I’ll be on the speaker side the of the radio!! Ryan KE7RW
