Will be doing this on my 2005 CR-V EX. It has an intermittent no crank no start and the only way I’ve found to get it to turn over is by playing with the shifter position running through out all the gears multiple times and sometime it still has trouble working. It only happens after I have been on back country roads which leads me to assume the switch is dirt and full of the same fine dust this coats my under carriage. Thank you for taking the time to show and film this for us! I grabbed another identical neutral safety switch from a local wreaking yard to compare the wear on mine to and as a fall back incase my switch really is faulty. Cheers!
Great video, very helpful. My honda won't start in neutral or park, good battery etc. I think it's the switch I drove through some big puddles just before it failed. Very little information on the web about what it actually looks like inside. Thanks to your video I can actually see the circuits inside when you take it apart. I'm sure it's one of the only videos that shows this. Well done.
Thanks. I mysteriously had a issue where my 2007 Accord V6 wouldn't crank and I tried putting it in neutral and still nada. Had the card towed home and the next day it started. I may try cleaning it as you have done instead of replacing it as a good starting point.
Sister in laws car wouldn’t start the other day after I checked the power steering for a leak. I had to move the shifter and then it started. She told me it did that and her brother did something to it and it worked for a while, but she didn’t know what. I’m thinking he cleaned it, but not sure. I found a NSS on eBay for $20 (Civic salvage), so I may see if she just wants to replace it since I found it pretty cheap. Either way, thanks for the tips.
Thanks! Given its used, it may not be far behind your sister-in-law's, but you can give it a shot. Mine has never failed to start in Park since cleaning the switch.
Great Info! Appreciate for your time. Have a questions. Would this switch effect the shifting time & quality on an auto tranny? Asking because my car seems to shift better after aplying wd40 on the lever without dismantling it. Thanks again.
Curious if you’ve ever had a Honda Accord crank but not start in park ? My 94 did exactly that today. I moved the shifter into neutral position and motor fired up immediately after doing so. Working fine now but expecting it to fail again. Thank you and good video.
I haven't had crank with no start. I've rather had crank, start and stall immediately (poor quality gas). In your case, I reckon cranking in Park but starting in Neutral may have been a coincidence as per it may have started in P if cranked repeatedly.. Looks like a hard start to me. The car will usually not crank at all or may start in gears other than P and N of its a neutral safety switch issue.
@@DIYAutoworksNG I was watching another video and it mentioned a module under the steering side main relay cold solder joints that can cause the same issue. I do appreciate you responding back. Thank you sir! I did subscribe
Good tutorial! I haven’t had this problem on my accord, but good to know just in case. Thank you for posting! BTW, why your car has miles on speedometer? Imported?
Thank you for your work and expertise sharing this information! Just had a no start problem on my toyota GX, gave me clear instruction. I have the Toyota technical manual but your video showed me where to start!
I see. I don't know the grease skf lgmt 3, what to use should be non-petroleum grease e.g. Silicone grease. Petroleum grease will attack the rubber and plastic components over time.
U stated y saying gear was in neutral but at reinstallation u now said it in Reverse. Yet u said the gear stick shold not be shifted throughout the procedure. Confusing
Apologies. I meant the rest of the procedure is the reverse of what I did when removing the part from the car. Lol. Sorry for the confusion. The transmission remains in Neutral.
I have this code p1780 pointing to this Park/neutral switch on a corrola 2003, car starts in park and neutral, the issue is it doesn't shift,it's stuck on gear 1. But once I unplug the neutral/park switch the car shifts perfectly,i plug it back and it stays in the first gear. please What do I do?

Thanks a lot for the compliment. Very good plan you gave there. Since I did this, the no-start in park has not happened again. All the best!
Same problem on my Chevrolet Beat

Do let us know if it works!
I will subscribe, all I just need is the 2 wire that allow the engine to crank while bypassing the neutral switch
I wouldn't advise bypassing the neutral safety switch except if its in a situation to just get you home.
@@DIYAutoworksNG yes, I need it to just get me home 🤣🤣🤣
not all Neutral Safety Switches can be opened up like that and are sealed plastic., so just replace them in that case. good vid
💯 Don't mind those anti-right-to-repair manufacturers. Thanks for the compliment.

A sticky shift cable can delay shift thereby affecting shift quality.
Just read that wd40 is a decent electrical contact cleaning substitute so this does make sense

Thanks for the extra info on the module! Thanks for the sub too🙏🏼
So you you need to put the car in reverse before removing the switch ? And well ofc put the block etc ?
This car recommends putting it in Neutral.

Thanks! Yea, car is imported.
You need to be specific an the type of car you're working on. Honda Accord what, and what year is the car.
Thanks for the feedback. It's a 2003 Honda Accord 4cyl. LX.
Will definitely take this advice forward.
My transmission goes into neutral when I come to a stop/decelerate. Can this cleaning of the neutral safety switch be the solution?
Do you mean the shifter itself moves into neutral or that the car stops to accelerate?
awesome video. where ru from sir

What grease are you using?
Super lube silicone grease

I don't understand

You may start by disassembling and cleaning the switch just to eliminate internal poor contacts. If it fails, you may need to replace the switch.
How can I change the seal behind that nuetra switch
Hmmm. Haven't had to do this so can't say, and I've let go of this car.
clean inhabited due to inhabited switch
Box truck freightliner
What’s this mean
I don't understand your comment, please.
You never started the vehicle?
Yea. The problem was intermittent. But has not returned since this procedure.
Nobody showing the fuckn bolts
Sorry mate! I'm learning to do better camera angles. 🙏🏼
@@DIYAutoworksNG it's all good, I was just frustrated that I went through a dozen videos and not one shown the bolts.
I understand. 🙏🏼
