Would this be the reason why my car (2016 Chevy Malibu) is saying shift to park even when it’s in park (now I can’t start my car) I don’t think it’s the micro switch in the shifter Assembly which is usually the problem but not with me
Instead of no reading on cluster I get crazy readings. Have no start, no- click from starter attempt however good bright lights so I assumed there's good chance neutral safety switch (TRS). The crazy part is when I turn key the gear positions light-up 1 at a time, each position lights up for a second from PARK to R, N, D,1,2. then same thing over & over agn.
I will be working on this next week. Just let everyone know. I get no reading of PRND on 2004 be beetle automatic. When placed on reverse it clunks and shuts off completely untill moved to park again or neutral. Let me know if I'm the right track . Great video
Thank you for making this video. I have a similar issue on my 10th gen Honda Civic. My car can't figure out which gear it's in. I have P0717 and P0796 error codes. Is it possible that those error codes are related to the transmission range sensor? Thank you.
Good info. I possible additional things that you might want to consider including….. the new one that I got from auto zone, I could get it to line up properly on the splined shaft. I had to file/grind off just a little bit of the plastic housing on the lower bolt hole, probably a aftermarket casting error on the manufacturer, but still needed to be addressed before proper installation could happen. Other than that awesome info thank you, sir…..

Lol I fixed all the spark plugs/ignition coils/cleaned out the throttle body and plenum intake/changed the gaskets.... (I bought my car used) (I was pulling a p0300 = p0303 + p0304 code) Since then I have been stuck in limp mode 😞.... Running a U0101 TCM code and I have tried everything I know... No, my problem was the PRND wasn't lit up on the dash and when I went in reverse it would kick itself out of reverse and into neutral. Turned out the reverse lights were tied into when I got a light bar added and moisture got in there and kept blowing the Transmission PRND fuse. The reason this happens is when you go in reverse the reverse lights come on. Which means it's on the same circuit as the PRND lights on the dash. Replace that fuse and see if it works again. If it pops then that means you have a Short, you could also add a bigger fuse to see if that helps. I did because I'm using more power than is allowed for the circuit. Haven't had any issues since then.

@@NightmareBeatz419 u checked your gearbox cable and bushings ? My mom was backing out and went to put it in D it got stuck in N called the mechanic it was only the bushings that’s links to the shift knob cable that was gone replaced that everything went back to normal
I do not know if that is a problem my car has, this is a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4 L Problem started when a week ago I move the shifter to the Reverse position and did nothing, few days after I moved the shifter to the Drive position and did nothing, then I moved the shifter to the Neutral position and the car won't move forward nor backwards when we pushed it, any ideas?

I turned the center of the sensor not knowing when I buy a new sensor it’s preset to neutral already… Ended up messing up the splines in the new sensor 🤦♂️…. Had to do it all over again…
alright hear me out here... the act of taking that sensor out should not have your hands all greased up that much. and that sensor is practically soaked in oil/gunk! you might have bigger issues in that engine bay!

Yes - I also filed a little bit of the plastic housing as well to get it to slide onto the spline shaft.

Hey I've changed a cs3 lancer transmission non cvt it seems to be loosing power goin up a hill like it's in 3 gear what do I do
Mine was po705. Not sure if this is the issue but considering I got the part, I'm hoping it works.

No, my problem was the PRND wasn't lit up on the dash and when I went in reverse it would kick itself out of reverse and into neutral.
Turned out the reverse lights were tied into when I got a light bar added and moisture got in there and kept blowing the Transmission PRND fuse.
The reason this happens is when you go in reverse the reverse lights come on. Which means it's on the same circuit as the PRND lights on the dash.
Replace that fuse and see if it works again.
If it pops then that means you have a Short, you could also add a bigger fuse to see if that helps.

Its would go into lump mode nd its raised more than 2 rpm

That’s doesn’t sound right. Unless you drive a expensive car.
Some cars can go up to that price. I would still shop around and check different sources. The junkyard could also be an option.

Maybe it's all the oil all over your motor you've got much bigger problems than a PNP sensor
