*VW/Audi Transmission Range Sensor* amzn.to/3GaSz4T
The transmission range switch detects the selector lever position when the shift lever is in the N or P shift position and sends a signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The transmission would go into limp mode when shifting into reverse from Park. OBDII testing showed trouble code P0706, and Vag-com confirmed the sensor issue. The TCM was not receiving the correct input from the range sensor also called a (neutral switch). In this video I show the steps involved installing a new switch.

I used this tech info. video to help me install a new transmission selector switch on my friends VW Passat last week. Your info. was very accurate and I thank you for sharing it on RUclips.
Good news. Your welcome and thanks for the comment!
Do you know any other videos that can help me with this do I have to disconnect the whole transmission before I can drop
Hope to help some viewing. I am restoring a 03 Passat 1.8t. The first job was my Cam Position Sensor Code, PO 340- 341. This after much testing of electrical connections required a VVT. Big job. LIMP MODE was also haunting me. My hopes were that the VVT would also clear LIMP MODE, but it did not. LIMP MODE is a bit of a catch all warning that something is wrong. It just happens my one symptom was this: If I used reverse, warm or cold, it went into LIMP MODE and would stay until I turned off the car. When I re-started I "had" to put into drive to avoid going into LIMP MODE. I changed this part Ozzstar shows us and my problem was fixed. The exact part, the manufacturer is on Ebay for $33.00 now. Thanks Ozzstar!
Glad the video was helpful, it took a lot of work to produce and edit. Many people have been helped with this video it's a great feeling to me to know that and I thank them for all the generous PayPal donations. -Glen
Thanks this video gave me the confidence to do it myself. 05 passat wagon 4 motion
many thanks. just ran into this problem and after replacing my tcm and cam sensor my Audi guru dad plugged the car into a computer and boom found this problem. unfortunately he wasn't in town to install and isn't great help over the phone so this video was a godsend. luckily I found the piece for 40$ and everything has been smooth
You are welcome Cormac. Nothing better than having your own personal guru ;-) Take it easy -Ozz
That is great Ozzstar, very helpful and thanks for such nice instructions.
Thank you Tulio!
Tank you. Just what i needed. My car Audi a6 2.5tdi quatro go in limpmode. Now i know what too do.
Awesome thanks got it repaired. Lot of work to try and video that portion of the car not much room to move.
I left the top bolt in on the transmission support and swung it out of the way to get to the Neutral Switch.
I had better luck Getting to the top bolt of the Support from inside the Hood. Thanks Again!!!

Oh and I found it much easier to only remove just the transmission bracket
Whatever works best is good in my book.
WOW, great, great video good sir. Thank you.... GOD BLESS you :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
Thanks for the helpful video! I did this job today, cause I had the same error so I inspected sensor and couldn't find corrosion or what so ever. It's faulty anyway, so I decided to open the sensor, just used a drill to disconnect the rivets and open it. It's a very simple device, I cleaned it, bent the contacts a little and sprayed it in with wd40.
Then i sealed it wit a kit and placed it back on the gearbox.
Job well done, works perfect again and I saved 300 euro for a new one :)
+louisluigi glad the video was helpful, thanks for commenting
Nice work on the single hand video

I have a 2003 audi allroad and I cannot reach the top bolt for the heat shield covering the safety switch. Any suggestions
Do you have 1/4" swivel and extension for your socket?
I just finished F125 range sensor replacement on my ‘03 allroad 2.7T 5AT.
If you’re referring to the top screw (M10 head) on the triangular heat shield for the aluminum trans support, you don’t need to remove it, undo the 2 bottom screws, curl the heat shield up to remove two bottom support bolts (M8 hex bit), and let the heat shield come out with the aluminum support fitting.
(Alternatively, loosening the hose clamp for turbo heat shield on down pipe might give you the clearance for the said top heat shield screw)
Of course, the hardest part is the top bolt (M8 hex bit) for aluminum trans support, but I used two universal joints along various 3/8” extensions routed just forward of LHS downpipe to loosen the top bolt (I needed 17” breaker bar to loosen the tight bolt). Hand access for this tool engagement manipulation is through aft of downpipe.
Loosen the RHS trans mount (2 bolts), place a jack under AT case just after of trans pan, to raise the powertrain just enough to slide the LHS tran mount out, then you’ll have the access needed for range sensor replacement.
Seeing this and other videos, I feel the 2.7T cars may be the hardest to replace range sensor, due to the exhaust downpipe being in the way.
Thank you for the video - have the same problem and the same fault code: P0706. Hard time to enter into reverse, often transmission goes into the limp mode with all PRND432 highlighted. When moving the shifter I do not have the highlight moving with it, there is a delay or some of them go in and out almost blinking (saw it on position "4"). I will look for the range sensor replacement and I hope it will fix it! Thanks again!
A Vagcom scan can determine if the TCM is not reading the range sensor correctly. This way you are 100% sure that it is the sensor. Swapping parts that are not broken can be expensive and time consuming. Good luck
I was able to disassemble everything to the point I am stuck in-mating the connector. This car has an oil leak and everything there is black - not much clue how these two halves of the connectors are latching. Would you mind describing how to unplug it? Thanks!
I usually use a small flat head pocket screwdriver to help separate a stuck connector. I dont recall the clip VW used for this one, its been a while. The new part should give you an idea on how the connector plugs in with a clip
I got it undone by looking at the picture of the connector on the O'Reilly's website - it does have a latch - Thanks. btw - do not have the new part yet - I was going to see if I am able to remove it first before I shell out the money for a new part.

Was your PRNDS sometimes flashing when it happens to my Audi A4 2004 I couldn't get reverse and then the PRNDS would flash and then I was able to drive my car in reverse
I don't recall but that is a possibility. Time to diagnose.
@@ozzstars_cars The computer show me that the Transmission Range Sensor was gone and I was getting the code P0706
Great vid man. Clear and easy to follow. I'm about to buy an Audi A4 1.8t Quattro for $1000-1300. The current owner said he came home from work and parked it. When he went to use the car again it wouldn't shift into any gear so he bought another transmission from a wreaked Audi (not too sure he bought the right one), but they do have this part in common and he's including it for free. So I'm gonna swap the sensors and also put in a tcm I found on eBay for $70. Hopefully it will fix any issues. Also he says the indicator on the dash never flashed, was never solid, or was off in respect to the shifter position. The car cranks and runs fine and even has an upgraded TD04 or K04 turbo. What do you make of that? Just a tcm and or harness with water damage?
When replacing the TCM make sure the serial numbers match the original tcm. Different models and years are programmed differently and they may not be compatible. A VAGcom diagnostics will be able to tell you if the TCM is defective or there are specific transmission issues, for example a bad solenoid. Water usually will leave signs of corrosion. Thanks for the feedback, hope this helped you. Take it easy
Is the ball-end extended hex the only way to access that top bracket bolt?
Another video said, "You MAY have to lower the subframe" to get at it.
He doesnt show or mention how he got at it.
Doing this same job in a few days, and would like to be fully prepared.
Ball head hex or dropping the sub-frame? I prefer the easier faster route.
@@ozzstars_carsI noticed part the mount bracket is ground down. Did you do that for a better angle at the top bolt head?
@gardenstateflatlandb yes sir, just the slightest notch to make life easier
Makes perfect sense.
Bought a fresh set of ball end hex sockets, and universal joint swivels, and about ready to go on this project.

Thanks for your comment Miguel
I got a new motor put on my car. my car started with no problems but will not move. the man that did the work on my care said that the transmission has scratches on it but it also did not give him a code. Do you know what can cause that? he also thinks it just needs reset because the motor was removed. Any truth to this?
What are the torque specs you need to tighten the trans mount and braces to?
Sorry don't recall the specs off hand.
Hi, I have question after replacing the Transmission Range Sensor I was testing that it work , I didn’t put the bracket before I turn car on to test it( didn’t know it had to be off) It work fine when car was off but when car is on I put in drive and the MPH goes up to 20 mph without pressing gas and transmission makes a noise, sounds like gears. What could happen if I checked sensor by turning on car and put on drive , and bracket wasn’t on yet??? Please help
Hi I have a 2006 Jetta and I need to change the TCM.Where is the TCM located?
Hello I wanted to know I have a Passat 2003 a 1.8 turbo can I find a part user or it takes nine pieces
Hi Ozz
I have an Audi 2001 A4 B5 and the PRND flashes sometimes when I run it, usually it doesn't happen in the morning when I start my day, it happens later in the day(late afternoon or night). However, when this happens it just runs okay, just a slight problem with the sensors when I go reverse. Not beeping properly. Do you think the problem is most likely to be the same as you explained in the video ?
Hey I have a 2005 Volkswagen Passat sedan v6 and my car starts and changes gear just won’t drive or reverse could this be the issue ?
Get VCDS software and check for trouble codes. Good luck

Is it possible for a Range sensor to be bad on an 03 1.8L turbo and the check engine light doesn't come on ?I changed out my Transmission and the shiftier won't physically go to 2 also I have to wiggle the shiftier to get it in reverse. The lights on the dash are out of sync with the shiftier.
Trans range sensor does not set a check engine light. You need to have a VAGcom scanner to diagnose the issue including the TCM, which will tell you whats going on with the transmission. Look at the mechanical aspect of the shifter by taking the center console apart. There are some small parts in there, not fun trying to get everything lined up.
I replaced the Range sensor and it is doing fine.I discovered the Shop that put the Transmission in left the bolt that hold the cable loose and didn't adjust the cable.Thank for this video it helpped me a lot.
hi ozz very good video I had a question before my fiancé touches anything we have a audi a4 1.8t 2003 an today he tried to reverse it an it didn't want to go into gear then he went forward an it delayed now I had noticed that on the dash the prnd is a solid light but it blinking idk if its the sensor or something worse an Im having trouble finding out what could be involve with that .
You need to get a VAGcom test for your car. It will tell the technician what is going on with the transmission. Good luck and thanks for watching
Question for you: I have a 1999 Beetle that won't start. It shows that it is in drive on the dash, and I can move the gear shifter out of park without stepping on the brake. Do you think the TR switch is my problem?
I wish I had the answer but sorry I don't. Would be best to look at a diagram of the shifter knob and range sensor to see if the are related. I have never worked on a modern Beetle.
Is this the same for a 04 a6 quattro?

The TCM needs to be scanned using VW software called VAGcom. This will help find direction to the problem.

This bit wears out & lets fluid past it so it wont let the gearbox shift out of one gear & into the next, then when it does, it does with a bang.

Would this cause your transmission to do absolutely nothing when you put it in gear like it’s like the engine is not connected to the transmission??????
Puts the trans automatically in 2nd gear.
Ozzstar yeah it won’t do anything. It won’t stay in 2 unless I hold it there once I let off it goes to 3 Plenty of fluid, the car had water in the floor board, I opened the tcm and no No corrosion no corrosion to the wires or connectors

Possibly
Or vavle body?

This is pertaining to an Audi A6 instead of a Passat, but if it's similar: if the transmission operates normally, would it rule out the transmission range sensor as a problem if the gear indicators don't light up the gear display on the center console? The back light LEDs are illuminated evenly and dimly, but changing the gear doesn't brighten up the one for the gear position as I expected.
Any good way to see why the gear indicator doesn't light up?
Best thing would be to do a VAGcom test to determine the issue. It may be an issue with the shifter knob, there is a magnet that moves when the gears are switched. If that is malfunctioning then the indicator light will not change on the dash. Hope that gives you a direction to start the repair
yes, turns out the magnet embedded in the rubber mat is used to activate the Hall effect sensors Audi used to detect the position of the gear shift lever. The led backlight indicators now light after installing the mat properly. Still have the problem with all the dash gear indications lighting up in reverse video though, which is supposed to be a trouble indicator. Don't have a vagcom scanner unfortunately.
i have a passat 2.0t.it seems to lag on acceleration.i notice like a kick sound.idk where it's coming from.are there tranny normally crap.i would think a car with turbo would need a manual tranny to pull enough power for the turbo system.idk i'm totally new to these cars.

I have a problem with my 2001 Allroad 2.7T Automatic going into reverse. When placed in reverse it will roll slowly but when the gas is pressed all it does it revs up. Research stated that it would be the neutral safety which which is also known as the transmission range sensor. No problems with the dash light, just doesn't reverse. Also do a VAGcom diagnostic and check the TCM for failure due to water infultration/corrosion.
I checked the tcm and it doesn't look like if any water corrosion. It's acctually looks brand new. But it's a electronic part. Who's knows but I did look at it and it doesn't look like any water or mosture got into. It. But like I said when I put it into gear and stert to drive it's like the the transmission doesn't know what gear it's supposed to be in shift like it's confused. And when I come to a stop it's like u hear a big clunk noise when the transmission is shifting back into first gear. And also when u put it in gear and ur holding the brake to shift into drive u feel like the transmission moves. And say when. I come to a stop. And I'm waiting for the street light to change sometimes it feels like if the transmission wants to take off even when I'm holding the brake pedal down

Ozzstar I want to Advance Auto Part with the transmission fluid number was a g 05216 to A2 number something along them lines and I use that to fill it for Volkswagen transmission fluid but I followed a step by step video on RUclips on how to do it so I am assuming I did something wrong
Ozzstar only thing I did was drop the old transmission pan and transmission fluid filter cleaned up the bolts on the transmission pan reuse the transmission pan bolts put the new gasket on new transmission pan on with the filter back in the spot that the old filter was in and then filled it up to where it dripped a little lowered the car down started the car put it in neutral with the car running and filled it until she started dripping back out put the plug in let it sit for a couple minutes with the car running in neutral and then took it for a drive around the block before I cleared the transmission code with my reader it seem like it was hesitating going into first gear very slow even with pedal to floor then I clear the code and it seemed fine on the back roads then the next day I took it on the highway and I was about 5 grand to 6 Grand RPM which felt like I was in 2nd gear I tried going to the manual shift up and down to the right of neutral and it will not go into any of the gears even down or up it would only go when I'm in Drive at a dead stop I will shift at 2nd gear around 35 miles an hour which seems very high so I'm not sure what is going on but didn't have any of these problems before only a small bump around 35 to 45 miles an hour before doing the pan replacement and fluid but it only had less than one quart of transmission fluid in it when I drop the pan I bought the car used for in everyday driver

Dude, thank you for upload. I have 04 tdi automatic passat.
I found the piece from dealer but it was expensive and my dealer said to me i need 10 plug one. In amazon i found the exact piece but the piece has 9 plug. I am really worried about the possibility of buying wrong switch. What do you think about that? Will it be a problem if i use 9 plug instead of 10?
Yes, it probably won't work correctly.
@@ozzstars_cars the thing is i send my chasis to seller and he said 9 plug is compatitable with your car. Dealer says 10 plug. 10 plug one cost five times higher than the other one.
@Mason Gilbert thanks for your answer dude, i actually forget i wrote this comment. after i write the comment i looked the photo that my vw dealer gave me closely, so the situation is exact same with your comment. there is a 10 spaces but there is 9 pins and i bought the part from eBay from OEM part producer for 70 bucks.

hi bro, i have a volkswagen cc 2010 sport 2.0 a/t dsg.. ive been trying to find a neutral safety switch that would my car but all i got were the ones for 2009 models. would you mind giving me a hand on this? i badly need to order it online. i would appreciate if you could provide me a link or a product code or a picture of how it looks. thanks bro. awesome video by the way
Your local dealership can get you the correct part number....that will help you
thanks bro! i have finally discovered why my reverse acted up. I did the DSG service with my vw mechanic and wuulah! reverse is kickin' back on baby! smooth as before. If you guys are having the same problem- just do DSG service- which means you have to trash your old gear filter and load up your gearbox/transmission with fresh vw transmission fluid. Problem solved!
You need to do a search online once you have the part number for your particular model.
hey was your reverse going out and coming back in? and whats a dsg service and how much did that run you
Moe Hamad so far my reverse has been working well since i changed my transmission fluid and filter. DSG service means you have to change transmission fluid and filter, have you done that yet?

Thank you for the informative video. I picked up a lot of useful tips and I appreciate it very much. Have a 2004 passat tdi in the shop now with a P0706 code, shifted hard into reverse and had a dead pedal when in gear. The PRNDL was always missing 4th gear and would sometimes light up as a solid bar on the dash. I checked for water intrusion at the TCM, but found no issues. I then pulled the range selector, using your video as a guide, and then drilled out the rivets to open it up. Cleaned all the contacts and gently bent the contacts up to make a better connection, then lubed it with dielectric grease before bolting it back together. Reinstalled it back on the car and it seems to be working great. I know now that the best way to do the repair would be to replace the range selector with a new one, but just trying to save a single mom some money. Thanks for the great tips. You are very good at going into detail on your repairs
Hey Devin thanks for your comment. Glad the video helped out and you got the car fixed. Feels good to know someone like a single mom got the help she needed. 👍-Glen
OK, fixed my switch, did not replace it. I took mine off, drilled out the rivets that hold it together and found two wiper contacts inside heavily burned and fatigued. The manufacturer made the wipers out of very thin spring metal, hence the reason they fail so easily. Anyway, I was wishing I could just repair the switch and not order a new one. The thought crossed my mind to solder a bridge wire between the brown and green leads where it would crank in any gear, but I resisted that urge to defeat the switch. All I needed was a couple of pieces of spring metal to replace the contacts, but where would I find that? I found an old flashlight and cannibalized the sheet metal contact that runs along the inside barrel of a flashlight. It took about 30 minutes with a pair of needle nose pliers, vice grips and a Dremmel Tool, to fabricate and replace both sets of contacts. I have photos if anyone needs illustrations. I reassembled the switch halves using screws and nuts. A confidence test showed it worked well and the metal is much thicker that the original contact. I have been driving it a few days since reinstalling the switch and it works fine. Saved a butt load of money. Thanks to ozzstar for the info on senor replacement.
That's great that it appears your inexpensive fix has worked. Yes those two wiper contacts wear and fatigue. Thanks for the update and sharing your idea.
HHTTRRNN hey msn u in cali ill pay you to do mine
I just asked Ozz if cleaning the sensor would work then I clicked on this link and found your comment.

I am having a incorrect ratio 5th gear code on my 2004 Volkswagen passat GLX 2.8 lt and when I get it warm the car dash where the gear lights are will all light up where it should be only 1 gear the gear you are in that lights up but it's all lit up and feels like it wont shift in 3rd 4th or 5th gear is there any idea why?
Need to hook up VAGcom software and see what the TCM data looks like to get some form of direction for a proper diagnosis.
Hey man I got a 98 Audi a6 2.8 Quattro. Obd2 said something about a trans sensor (PRND432) car runs and drives fine but sometimes it will rev high into next car like holding a clutch too long my car is an auto so I know its not me lol. Idk how much you know about these but my tiptronic or triptonic don't work anymore so that's why I thought sensor and it came up. Also my car is misfiring because my coil pack failed but I replaced coil packs plug wires and plugs now I got spark in every cylinder and I have compression in every cylinder so what's another thing to check fuel injectors? Or do I just need to clear the codes of the computer? Is there an easy way to do that? I do not have a code reader so I can not clear it. Please lmk thank you happy thanksgiving EVERYONE STAY SAFE!
you are such a wonderful person for making this video.
Thank you for the comment!
Great video. Ozz do you know if this DIY would work on the Audi A6 C6?
Todd D thanks, not sure about A6, never worked on one
Thank you for your help. Will look into that. Great video, very helpful. Thank you for your time.
You are welcome, good luck with the repair
Is that part fits all type of passat? I have same problem with my 2004 1.9 tdi
Always cross reference the part to the vehicle to make sure it will fit.
I have a 1998 Passat 2.8 V6 4 wheel drive with automatic tranny. It is in limp mode right now and with the fuse in for transmission it is locked in P(ark). When you take the fuse away it allows you to move the shifter. We have changed the brake light switch, checked the computer under passenger floor and no water there. Our codes said P0705 and P1746. Right now we do not know what to do and for us taking it to the local Volkswagen dealer for service is not an option because we are broke. Thankful for answers and blessed for help :)
Thank you veri much, this was a life savor for me, my Allroad C5 is working perfect now 😀
Good news!
Why did u have a change that sensor
As the video discusses the defective range sensor was putting the engine into limp mode.
@@ozzstars_cars the engine or transmission is in limp mode? I have 04 vw touareg dash reading PRNDS it drives in 3rd gear and does not switch gears. Could this be a similar fix.

Ozzstar I have 02 jetta that has a five speed tip tronic but my range position sensor seems to be the problem why it's not starting, it's stuck in reverse no matter what gear I select also the reverse lights stay on.
Ozzstar does it require a computer to readjust it or should I just buy a new one??
Ozzstar I have a 98 passat and from what I could tell everything was the same. I went to start it the other day and it didn't start. After messing around I found that if I turned and held the key in the start position then shifted into Neutral it would start. I think I'm a smart fellow so I thought it was the neutral safety switch. So I changed it and when I did it caused the gear indicator to go black with clear letters. It wasn't like that before. I had to problems switching the part. It still won't start in park and still starts in I move it into Neutral while holding the key in the start position. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Just recently replaced my range sensor thanks to this video and my gears are working i disconnected the battery for 5 minutes in order to erase check engine light which worked but when i took it to have it smoged the machine gave out the same code p0706 any ideas why
Is the car your working on a Vw? If so, did you confirm the range sensor was faulty using VAG.com software? This will also tell you if there is any issue with the TCM which controls the transmission. Make sure the sensor is properly plugged into the connector and there is no corrosion on the harness side of that plug. After the repair, clear codes using a scanner. It takes a good amount of driving on the Passat for the TCM to 'reset" after a battery disconnect. ECM/TCM has to go through many cycles of driving before it will be ready to pass an emissions test. Good luck and post your final results if you can. Thanks for watching Johnny
ozzstar hi i have a passat 2004 auto 1.9 tdi highline. i got this issue, morning start if i put the shifter lever from P to R the lever is on R and it takes a 3 seconds or so for the dash selector to engage to R and it clunks into R which causes all the selectors to light up and some time throws up the engine management light so then if i put the shifter lever back to P turn the car off and then restart its fine but engine light stays on. the only thing i will notice when driving the lever is on D and if i put in on N then R it will show the selector on dash light up P for split second and then go to R its like it skips R goes to P for split second then back to R but doesnt go on limp mode. diagnostics codes p0706 impaulse intermmitent f125

After replacing the TCM THUS IT requires any codeing. because my reverse sensor stop working.
Thank you very much for posting this video. I have an '02 Audi 3.0 Avant that has the same issue and I just ordered an OEM Transmission Range Sensor for it. Already replaced the TCM (water in the floorboard, fixed now, etc) and the problem is pointing exactly to this unit. I'll keep you updated after I get the part installed.
Good luck with the repair. Looking forward to the update.
I have a 97 audi Cabriolet no matter what gear i put it in r,n,d, it still drives forward. For example if I put my car in neutral it would display neutral on the dash but when I hit the gas it was still drive forward and it does this in reverse as well any ideas of what this could be
Check that the TCU isnt wet. If it is, replace it.
Having a problem taking the connector off?
Squeeze and pull.
Thankyou I got it off, great video!
was looking to do this on an Audi A6 quatro Automatic, no site available. Glad I stumble onto your site, it's exactly what I was looking for after learning not to call it a neutral safety switch but a transmission range sensor!
They call it trans range sensor so the price can be higher!! haha Good luck with the repair
Hello there, I have a jetta 2009 and when I have a long ride the transmission doesn't make the changes correctly.
Check the TCM data using a VAGcom scanner.
I think we have the same problem bc our car won't switch to rear and they told us is not the transmission . How much did this part cost and where did u get it from?
Purchased online years ago, sorry cant remember the cost but it wasn't cheap.
Hello,
Great video! let's me kown what I'm up against. just a quick question. Did you ever take the old sensor apart? And if so did it look like it could have been fixed?
thanks,
Happy new year 2017!!
Yes i took the old sensor apart. maybe i should post a video on it. It ended up being a couple of worn copper contacts. I imagine it could be repaired but is better off being replaced since it's such a bitch to get the sensor off and on. Happy New Year to you as well Chris, thanks!
After replacing do you need to reset anything to take it out of Limp mode ?
It should not go into limp mode if the repair was the correct diagnosis.
My 2003 Passat is intermittent with cranking. Sometimes I can get it to crank in Neutral by sweeping the shit lever through the gears. It will not crank in Park. The dash board indicator lamps light up correctly when I move the shift lever. Does this sound like a Range Sensor problem? Is there another neutral safety switch in the circuit?
Have you checked the TCM? The transmission control module can be diagnosed by having a VAG.com test completed. This is software specific to Volkswagen. Check to see if there is moisture under the front passenger side floor board carpet. There could be corrosion in the wiring or circuit board if that is the case.
ozzstar
Yes, it had moisture under the carpet. Not much but damp with a slight puddle maybe 1/8 deep on the bottom. I was occasionally getting a limp mode from the transmission before drying that up. The TCM showed no evidence of having gotten moisture inside, so it must have been a wire harness shorting out from moisture. In conjunction with this limp mode, the radio would stop making sound, although it appeared to be operating normally. Hey thanks for the quick reply. Any other ideas?
ozzstar
BTW, I have a Vag-Tacho system for programing keys etc. Is that usable for the Vag.com software?
HHTTRRNN hopefully i can locate and post the video I have that shows where to look for corrosion in the wiring harness that leads to the TCM. The splice can corrode from the moisture and cause problems like you are describing. Sorry for the long delay response, I just saw your message.
