PPS: If you're not experienced with working with electricity I highly recommend you call an electrician or bribe a family member in the business or perhaps a neighbor (like I did) to do the install so you don't die.

Beware. In a lot of places you're required by law to have a certified electrician do your "permanent" installations of HV equipment. Insurance can be a bit tricky if the house burns down and you didn't have a certified electrician for the job.

I happen to be an electrician & I can say everything was done well with the exception that those leads to the circuit breakers were stripped of insulation too far back. Doing like that can cause a problem if (God forbid) someone working near that area slips with a screwdriver,it can cause a mean short and or hurt badly if due to bare wire makes contact.

They like flathead screws because they're a lot harder to strip than phillips screws.

false, its a #2 square head in the middle. #2 squares are used in place of phillips in most electrical cases.

I doubt it will be able to identify itself since it's power requirement is so ridiculously low but it's also the closest thing on it's circuit so maybe? I'm curious now!

lol your neighbor did a better job attaching wires to the breaker than whoever did the rec room, 1/4 inch of exposed wire is unacceptable, (higher chance something will bridge that gap, could be a bug, could be a screw etc, its bad practice, and though I doubt jerry knows why, why is there braided wire attached to a breaker? should be standard romex.

you got shocked from low voltage. thats nothing, do not mess with panels, The panel cover is known as a "Dead Front" and with it off it is very dangerous and anyone else getting the idea, please leave this to a licensed electrician. I do HVAC for a living and messing with 220 is no joke, always shut off power when working with ANY Mechanical device, such as changing thermostats. and if you have a prehistoric furnace, installing a nest may require to run a new tstat wire.

We love the system we have in our home. To see our power usage in real-time is awesome. Turn on something and see how much power it uses. Nice to see when all things are off and you get to see the power you are still using AKA Phantom power (also referred to as standby power, vampire draw, or leaking electricity) is the act of electrical appliances consuming power while switched off or in standby mode.
You can use a Robertson #2 on the panel door screws...
Also your buddy is right in that technically as a homeowner you can do whatever you want. You don't need a licenced anyone for anything. With that being said, as an electrician I was holding my breath throughout this video. Please for the love of those you care about lock out the power next time.

Sense isn't mad at you Jerry but I am.
Electrician here, Unless the sense needs breakers for whatever reason, It is a waste of 2 breaker slots to use breakers, I would wire the senses power wires directly to where the entrance wire connects to the bus bar, Dont even start about overcurrent, because the senses thin wires would melt long before a 15 amp breaker would trip. Also a word here: The two hot entrance wires, are 110v each and one connects to one bar and to the other bar in an alternating pattern. Americas 240v is not 240, it is 2 seperate 120v lines, But in europe, there is 240 on a single wire. And if you touch both hot terminals you will not get shocked, as long as you are not touching grounded metal or the neutral line (touch one of the blacks and the white, or the bare copper and you will feel it)

you're supposed to have a square head driver, which every electrician has. a square head turns every screw except the main terminals, which is a hex head.
