Coming back to RUclips will be an uphill struggle since I've been gone for so long and RUclips has weighted my channel downward because of it. I want to thank you guys for sharing my content outside of RUclips since it's not going to be discovered easily in Search anymore until I get my numbers back up where they were. So you guys have no idea how important you are to my success and come back here on RUclips and ultimately I'm returning to Twitch also. Therapy has been a huge part of my recovery and I recommend it to anyone that is a target of constant online hate. It helps you understand why people feel a need to attack others and find fault in others to help ease their own pain and mask their own problems and I now understand it which helps make it less painful. Just remember next time someone is going crazy saying crazy stuff that they are choosing to stick around and do that meaning they want some kind of a connection with you and they don't care if it's positive or negative they just want one. So you can pretty much bet that person has their own problems, their own struggles and could use a hug. I'm trying to realize this myself now and be a bit more empathetic towards these people now. I love all the people that bring so much positivity my way, honestly, it's what keeps me wanting to do this forever and ever! ♥♥♥♥♥
Welcome back! I know exactly what you are saying. I'm glad you are taking a different approach to resolve this. I hope you get to where you set your goals...especially for your family's sake.
Thank you so much for watching this video and I hope you enjoy the #DIYGasm series as much as I like to produce it. I plan to venture out into all my old categories like 3D printing, VR, Gaming, Coding, etc over time but I'm coming back from a long break due to health reasons that aren't fully resolved (talk about them on my Patreon openly) but I'm working through them and I'm just looking to entertain people and stay productive. Everything you see in the video can be found in the video description or just come over on social media and hit me up (Twitter is your best chance at getting a response). Make sure you read the video description for updates on this project before starting since I'm going to try *OTHER MATERIAL TYPES* after this video!
Update 9/9/19 - The electrical tape was a bit shiny so I decided to try some flat black painters tape after someone recommended it and I found some and it was much easier to install and ultimately looked way better than the electrical tape. If all you have is electrical tape then give it a go, it left no bad residue like people were concerned with that I could see but the painters tape went on super easy and because it's flat it's a better match for the black painted wall if that matters in your configuration. I linked the tape in the video description that I used for my 2nd try and on my 3rd try in 2 weeks I'm going to paint the painters tape with Black 2.0 paint to try and make it even more light absorbing. Keep on trying new stuff and let me know how it works for you!
Matte black vinyl wrap (hopefully you can get a reasonable amount and not enough bulk to do the whole house), hobby knife, credit card to get into an crevices, i think it would come out really well( i did a wooden lid for fish tank a year ago with sharp corners and rounded edges and still going strong with heat and moisture)
I can’t remember when I subscribed to you but I believe it was when you had like 80k subs. And still after all these years you are still one of my favorite people to watch.
Two videos in two days? You are spoiling us. It's great to see you making videos again! I look forward to seeing even more from you! Black gaffer's tape or duct tape would have worked much better (and definitely less reflective in the case of gaffer's tape) but sometimes you gotta work with what you have and electrical tape is definitely better than nothing in this case.
DIYGasm and JerryRigged is all about working with what you got most of the time. I hated looking at the bezel, I was going to try and fix it and I recorded it and shared it. That's how I've always rolled 😁
Fun video. Welcome back :) 100% agree with the silver bezel - purchased an LG TV over a Samsung about 6 months ago for that exact and only reason (I have a Samsung QLED computer monitor and love it).
I'd probably go with gaffers tape so it doesn't shmoo up the bezel with adhesive, but I can understand not wanting to pay for a different tape if you already had electrical tape on hand.
It's all about what's on hand. If I had black gaffers tape that would have been my first choice! I also want to try Hockey grip tape (linked in video description).
Ya it will get gooey sticky mess rather soon. It will be hard to clean. Vinyl wrap from 3m or avery would be the most ideal for this i think. fine for now though.
Jake Lile I agree, but WD-40 on a clutch makes the shmoo go away easy when you remove it. I took it off just to see what residue it left after a few days and there was nothing. After months or years though I’m sure it will.
Awesome video! I might use this trick in the far future. I currently have a TV and PC monitor with completely black border, so no issue. But if I upgrade in the future, I might need some tape magic.
Jerry I'm a lazy sob, so would suggest trying a jumbo black magic marker/sharpie and see how it works, fall back to tape if not happy with the magic marker results Great to see you back - John
well, at least the bright bezels disappeared and you don’t kill your warranty with this method I‘m looking forward for more videos... it’s always a pleasure to watch them 👍
Electrical tape leaves the worst residue and it breaks down over time. Might want to wait to get some better tape. Just looking out for you and your TV when the tape gets removed.
Good to see you back again Jerry. Good idea with the electrical tape, I do believe that there is an electrical tape that is fabric should be able to pick up at Lowes or HD
Glad to see you posting again, looking forward to some more diy, car, 3d printing, tech stuff and of course a return of Batknife (but please sharpen it) lol
wow i just spent a few hours catching up on some of your past videos lol and enjoyed every minute of it, THANK YOU MATE! and to show my appreciation i will turn off my adblock for your channel from now on. you take care and just keep doing what your doing mate, sorry about the mate thing but i'm from the UK and its meant in the best way.
Another good option might be 3m or similar vinyl wrap like you would use on cars or car interior. Doing this with some black "brushed aluminum" vinyl could look pretty sharp.
I was thinking about that also because electrical tape is basically just vinyl tape, you can even squeeze out the bubbles using a card or apply to a semi wet surface and dry out. I think it's literally just strips of vinyl wrap.
Jerry, from experience on using electrical tape on almost everything: the glue on them tends to decay pretty nastily and it'll unstick, and leave a gooey mess on the border afterwards.. How about masking tape and just apply some matte paint like the one used on models?
That is a fantastic idea, and this is an experiment. I like to try things and show people my thinking. It will an evolution. I'm not worried about the electrical tape leaving residue since WD-40 will remove it with ease (most people don't know this). I ordered up some Black 2.0 tape and I'm going to apply it to some test materials for v2.0 of the border and might do an updated video!
Hey good come back, hope you can get back at it. My son and I are trying to get our PC Gaming channel going, a lot to work through so I can only imagine what you have gone through over the last decade.
I convinced myself that my Silver bezel looked elegant on my Q6FN with that silver stand. If I get tired of the silver,i got a Staples duramark permanent black marker 😜
Funny! The moment you mentioned the issue you were having, my immediate thought and I mean immediate thought was to use Electrical Tape!!! LMFAO!!! I guess great minds think alike?
This turned out pretty damn good! I wouldn't recommend hockey tape though, in my experience the adhesive on it is annoying as hell and impossible to remove.
The prob is the Elec tape will warp over time and end up sliding back, not to mention the edges where glue will show will end up being a dust magnet. If you really want a long-lasting solution then mask it off and get a can of plastidip (its very easy to apply and can be removed when wanted)
Damnit Jerry, you should wear gloves when handling shinny objects... I'm triggered by your fingerprints....actually, I cant see them through the dust on the screen I am watching this video on... Good to see you back posting videos, hopefully, we'll be seeing regular videos from now on?!?!
Better for those who do this to use a masking or gaffer tape. Electrical tape tends to let go from flat surfaces over time and the adhesive loves to melt
I use car coach line decal Matt carbon fibre 10 mm width You get in car shops bezel was 10mm and so was tape I got 2.5 metre roll which was plenty and clean bezels and it went on smooth and I even cut the corners like picture frame. It goes on and don't come off very strong adesive
Was in the process of asking why you got rid of your projector, then you answered it. Thought I'd just go ahead and leave the comment to help with the algorithm.

Yay. You’re back, again. Again.
What's up with that yellow pixel on the right of the screen camera messed up some? It's kinda yellowish.
It's on your hand at 5:27
Lmfao! And epic setup in the bedroom!! I need this setup damn it! Lol

i just watched a 20 minute video of sticking four pieces of tape. 10/10
Jerry has a stepladder because his real ladder left him when he was young. :P
And this gets a pin 😉
So? What's the difference between a ladder and a step-ladder? You need to stop judging things based on narrow-minded cultural assumptions.
Step ladder just has less aspirations... But I love em anyways
@@Barnacules lol
2 videos in as many days??? I'm dreaming... but it is a good dream

Wild. My tv has the same silver bezel. I didn’t notice it until I saw this video. I’m pretty sure I’ll stop noticing it as soon as I navigate away.
20min to install..4hrs getting rid of the mess electrical tape leaves behind
The worst residue out of all tapes.
I would of used vinyl cost more but easy to remove
Barnacules you are the only person on the planet i would watch a 20min video showing me how to tape the edges of a tv screen. 😁👍
Only Barnacules can make a video about taping up a TV interesting and funny 😏
I can’t remember when I subscribed to you but I believe it was when you had like 80k subs. And still after all these years you are still one of my favorite people to watch.
Collton Via thank you so much.
Glad to see you posting more to RUclips lately. I really enjoy your videos.
I watched this video twice.
So much energy is addictive 😁
A fantastic, easy DIY fix Jerry. Just need some tape for those two cables dangling down from below the center of the TV.
Two videos in two days? You are spoiling us. It's great to see you making videos again! I look forward to seeing even more from you!

Fun video. Welcome back :) 100% agree with the silver bezel - purchased an LG TV over a Samsung about 6 months ago for that exact and only reason (I have a Samsung QLED computer monitor and love it).
The black felt might not be a good idea. My wife pointed out that felt attracts dust (and cat fur) like a magnet.
So happy to see you posting again Jerry! Absolutely love that setup you got going on in there.
I'd probably go with gaffers tape so it doesn't shmoo up the bezel with adhesive, but I can understand not wanting to pay for a different tape if you already had electrical tape on hand.

Ya it will get gooey sticky mess rather soon. It will be hard to clean. Vinyl wrap from 3m or avery would be the most ideal for this i think. fine for now though.
If you have to buy it anyways, do it properly and get black felt tape. That's the same stuff you'd use in home theater projector setups.
Jake Lile I agree, but WD-40 on a clutch makes the shmoo go away easy when you remove it. I took it off just to see what residue it left after a few days and there was nothing. After months or years though I’m sure it will.

Thanks Ryan, with my wifes help and my son being back in school now I think we can get back to a regular schedule.
I would just buy a black tv !!! Good to see stuff from you again.
Glad to see you back, Barnacules!
I'm glad you're back, hope you can hit that 1mil mark in the next 2 or 3 months, you deserve it!

Have you thought of attaching LED stip lighting behind the tv. Excellent for contrast during night viewing.
Life's better Jerry's back
Glad to see ya back in the sub feed. Keep up the good work 👍
Over time the electrical tape leaves glue residues on the surface that are then very difficult to clean 😭 😭 😭
Try getting a roll of 1 or 2 inch wide, satin or flat black vinyl wrap.
I have the same tv. If you redo it would love to see a mask-off and spray plasti dip install.
