- Judith Durham Oh Happy Days (1996)
Oh Happy Day" has a long pedigree: It began as a hymn written in the mid-18th century ("Oh happy day that fixed my choice") by English clergyman Phillip Doddridge (based on Acts 8:35) set to an earlier melody (1704) by J. A. Freylinghausen. By the mid-19th century it had been given a new melody by Edward F. Rimbault and was commonly used for baptismal or confirmation ceremonies in the UK and USA. The 20th century saw its adaptation from 3/4 to 4/4 time and this new arrangement - Видеоклипы
Listening to this beautiful song by Judith on 25th Dec 2020, and yes, looking forward to Oh Happy Day 2021 after this covid infested 2020.
Fantastické!!!
Great song. And again Judith's beautiful voice
Well, isn't this just stunning! I adore Judith singing gospel and blues, well anything really! Truly an excellent and exciting performance!!
So multifaceted. I also admire this side of Judith.
What can I say....great rendition of a classic gospel song.
Talk about shivers of pure joy! I find myself happily caught in an inescapable cycle of listening on this one. This sublime display of power and range is simply beyond description and can barely be believed even with listening!
Fabulous. She's usually quite reserved in her delivery, so I LOVE IT when JD lets it rip...
Doug...Judith has mentioned that she was a fan of Mahalia Jackson and I can clearly hear that connection in her gospel oriented work. I can even hear a little touch of Aretha in this particular tune. It's amazing where this sweet talented lady could take us with her wonderful voice.
Thanks Dennis - Great idea for a video! I recorded the original footage at the National TV archive in London by discretely plugging a DV camcorder into the output of their video player. This song was featured on a Christmas compilation in Australia and is now available on Judith's CD 'It's Christmas Time'.
Wow! Any idea why they wouldn't just release it?
@@jacobkaplan-davis5150 it was released on a Christmas compilation CD some years ago...
I know this sounds crazy, but i would have loved to hear Judith sing a few Zeppelin songs, Thank You, ten Years Gone, and i really believe she would have gone off singing Since i've Been Loving You. When Judith really let rip she was quite the belter, not a Dame Shirley, but still a very unique powerhouse. Go listen to her Judith Durham and the Hottest Band In Town LP! WOW!
Will never happen.
Wow shocked here, Judith did well with this !:)
so Rich, do you have the footage of this recording too would be awesome
Who did the paintings? They look like the artist Greg Olsen, a well-known Latter-day Saint (Mormon) artist. Beautiful music, beautiful art.
Typically, another Mormon who must insert his/her abominable cult’s name even when such information is not relevant.
Suggestion - you'd get more visits with the correct title. The correct title is "Oh Happy Day" (no "s").
Ma NON E' Judith Durham!
