    The Seekers aaa a group stand alone imo. Judith Durham, you my lady, stand alone on the top of earth’s highest mountain. Thank you for “being” and for leaving us your “legacy”. 2023 and you still are bringing me comfort. RIP Lady with the voice of an angel. ♥️

    I learned this song when I joined Girl Scouting. We used to sing this before sleeping at the camp site

    Kumbaya has long been something of a sarcastic joke for late night talk show hosts, and yes, even many Christians. However, both renditions (with Juudith and Karen) by The Seekers really blessed me. Lord, come by here please. Thou art welcome in this house.
    Revelation 3:20.

    It's not The Seekers without the late and great Judith Durham..... she had the best female voice ever.

      True, nobody will ever replace the late great Judith Durham. But, since we unfortunately don’t have her anymore, Karen Knowles seems like she would be a fitting, female voice to sing Judith’s part. Notice I didn’t say replace Judith. Nobody will ever replace her, and anyway, she was one of the original members of the group.
      Today in June 2023, I just read in Wikipedia, that Karen Knowles is an accomplished Australian singer, with a very respectable discography. She is just under 60 years old, is from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where The Seekers are from. Looks like she performed with them back in the 1990s when Judith was pursuing other interests.
      In any event, Karen Knowles did a nice version of the song.

    This was great and and she does have a really beautiful voice in all, but with all do respect, I am just way to loyal to Judith. Judith was my first, literally the first female singer I fell in love with. There have been many since, but we all know that you never forget your first! Imagine, I was only 11, maybe 12, when I first heard Judith singing with The Seekers, soon after they debuted on the Ed Sullivan Show, which never, ever was missed in parent's house,on those Sunday evenings. I was not aware that they were scheduled to be on Sullivan that night, so I just hit my head on the pill. I could hear anybody's voice in the entire house without so much as turning my head from side to side. Boom! I heard Judith's unbelievable voice and I could tell it was coming from our family's one and onlyTV. I was fortunate to catch almost the entire performance, I never could remember if they sung more than the one song, their forever iconic song, "Georgy Girl". That night, was not to interested in the music, I really thought that I fell as much in love that a kid in 7th grade could fall in love. I do remember not getting much sleep at all that night and so I struggled through Monday. The rest of the week was well, sort of really great! I cannot believe I still get to hear her sing and see her face today in all her glory. I will always LOVE this beautiful woman, Judith Durham. " I never did find another her" God Bless Judith. She is truly a miracle to me!

      @@eomc17 By her own admission, she battled with self-conscious issues, but she always had confidence in her voice. 1968 was a great year of evolution in music with the anti-war, psychedelic drug influence and the Seekers, even with Judith, would have struggled, but they would always have their strong fan base they could rely on. Just wish that Judith could have stuck it out. She cost the group millions as they had just emerged from their original paltry recording contracts and they were still very popular. The guys cared so much for Judith, that they never confronted Judith in the way they should have until Bruce Woolley finally wrote to Judith 5 years after that he was devastated by her decision and what a burden it had been since, but still felt it was her decision to make.

      Knowles was technically a pro, but Judith just had the “it” factor. I think it was her humility and passion. Once she got confident, she just radiated enjoyment.

      @@sueregan2782 Absolutely! She's ok but she ain't no Judith. She doesn't have Judith's heart. Just look at them. See the difference in attitude, feeling and dress.

      I too was about the same age when I heard Judith's voice on the radio and then saw her on some TV Special. I fell in love with her (like so many others) girl-next-door charms and the greatness of her talent hidden by her humility. To me, she was a beautiful girl with the voice of an angel.

      In fairness, Judith Durham stood in a league of her own as a singer. The Seekers had some incredibly talented replacements in Louisa Wisseling, Julie Anthony, and Karen Knowles. Three amazing voices that truly only fell short when compared with Judith Durham.

      Jose, Judith left the group in 1968 to persue a solo career. She re-joined in 1993. During that time The Seekers had 3 different female singers,

    I have loved Judith Durham and The Seekers for over 50 years, but Karen's higher voice sounds even better than Judiths on this number. Just fantastic.

    Os 3 homens são a cara dos integrantes do The seekers 🤔 como assim ? Alguém pode me explicar ?

    • @rich963
      @rich963  2 года назад

      The Seekers were originally 4 men, when one left in 1964 they invited Judith to join. She left in 1968 for a solo career and the 'Boys' had 3 other female singers from 1975-93, when Judith re-joined.
