My goodness. People usually lose that power or presence as they age, but this is just absolutely amazing. She has only gotten more amazing as time has gone by.
my thoughts exactly. she adds the experience of time - phrases it perfectly and doesn't have anything to prove. her voice has aged like fine wine
I read that she has kept taking voice lessons and has larger range now then when she was younger!!!
Dear Sir:
Smoke&Mirrors….
But she is a Star... do you forget??
Just like old wine: "maturity" enhances the overall quality... we agree with your every word!
Nobody can sing this song like Judy Collins. She sounds the same as she did 50 years ago! She has aged very gracefully... Thank you so much for your years, Judy this is still beautiful and it brings tears to these eyes.
Judy is so wonderful! :)
Sure, only Judy can sing this song like Judy. But Streisand's version, TO ME, is even more moving.
Tears still streaming after 50 years.
She really took care of her voice over the years. She still sounds beautiful.
Taking care of your voice, remembering vocal technique---The DEAL.
Even better, just listened to a recording when she was much younger. That was good but this is great.🎉
Face of an angel, voice of one too. In this dying world as the great tribulation draws near I'm so glad I grew up when the world was beautiful and singers like Judy were there.
Yes! So many beautiful singers. Judy, Joni Mitchell, Carole King...
What an exquisite performance from Judy. Her voice has certainly not suffered from decades of performing. Beautiful!
It’s been said that if amethysts could sing, they’d sound like Judy Collins. Stunning and beautiful!
I've had tickets for her for the last 3 years. (hurricane canceled it last year), and last Saturday night I checked off another thing on my "Bucket List" and saw her Iin Lenox Mass. (Tangelwood). She's 83. with a new very short haircut, and just miraculous performance.
If amethysts could sing - what an amazing observation. She definately makes this song a living entity. I love Streisands cover, but this is even more eclectic. A magical performance.
That's priceless! Thanks, and may I quote you? There's only Julie Covington comes close. As a very lapsed Catholic who doesn't know what to do any more I find it strange and ironic that I am drawn to influence from two marvelous persons whose initials are JC.
One of THE most magnificent voices of my time.
Indeed 🙏
Her voice hasn't aged, if anything it is richer and more beautiful.
So true! The production quality and halo effect are so heart felt and sincere as clear as her lovely voice! 🎉
Just stunning at age 82. His light is shining on her.
ALSO 82, I AGREE
Bill beautiful analysis.
Wow ... Judy is one of those rare talents whose voice has remained virtually (remarkably) unchanged. Send in the Clowns will always be hers.
Each time I hear this, I shed a tear or two. Her voice is so angelic. To know the meaning is even more heart breaking. Love you Judy and thank you for years and years of all your beautiful music.

She is known for her eclectic tastes in the material she records (which has included folk music, show tunes, pop music, rock and roll and standards) for her social activism, and for the clarity of her voice. Collins has released 28 studio albums, 4 live albums, numerous compilation albums and 4 holiday albums. Today, May 1st, 2021, she is celebrating her 82nd birthday. UPDATE: She is now 83 (May 1st, 2022). Now 84 (May 1st, 2023)
Happy belated birthday, sweet Judy. Love your work and passion ❤✌
Thank you. Buetiful.
So beautiful. Sondheim was so lucky to have this lady sing his song.
Thank you for a wonderful song.
A good voice, she could and others like her can skip social activism we don't need their leftist plaver.
I took my mom to see Judy Collins perform when she came to our city. Her performance of this song was nearly identical to this video. At her age to still have that voice is basically unheard of. She's still as good as she ever was. They'll never be another one like her.
I agree. Joan Baez, from the same era, still performs, but just sounds so much older... no clear voice anymore, when compared to Judy
Judith Durham held it together just as well, just not for quite as long.
How very true. 🎶🎶
Where did you goto see her, I when to her Nottingham concert. Love it x
Joan Baez is still the best along with Dolly Parton, not to forget Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou Harris. I loved Judy Collins but when she became older her voice changed dramatically and she had a hard time keeping tune. So be careful who you think is the best. The others I mentioned could sing in so many different times and pitches. I was disappointed when Ms. Collins lost her beautiful tone and key when singing. Play another song when she is eve
I used to listen to this with my father when I was 5. That was 45 years ago. He's gone but I still have the memory and the LP vinyl record. It still sounds just as good on my turn table with the diamond studio stylus. When I play it I can return to that moment 45 years ago. Thank you for your timeless gift to all of us.
This lady is in a class all by herself. The Angels in Heaven take lessons from her. 🙏❤👼
Probably the most poignant expression of human frailty in the whole of popular music
This was one of my mom's favorite songs and favorite singers she passed away in 2017 my 28-year-old son Jeremiah passed away in 2021 from alcoholism at the age of 28 my 40-year-old daughter is having a major struggle right now with alcohol please pray for us thank you and thank you Judy❤😇🐸🙏🙏🙏❤
ah ah , what a heavy life . Hold on honey , keep yourself together and give all the love you have to your girl. My thoughts are with you .
Thoughts and prayers with you ❤
I can't imagine what you're going through right now. I just want to thank you, thank you for holding up.
I will be praying for you and your family.Jesus is the comforter.
Only the best for you .
She is a cousin of mine, always have enjoyed her music since I was very young. She is unwavering perfection
Wow... Your cousin still has a beautiful voice and just as striking in looks... A beautiful lady, and we all know that beauty is way more than skin deep... I read somewhere that her voice and songs gave solace to soldiers in the meat grinder that was Viet Nam... I was too young for that, but I did serve.
Truly unwavering perfection indeed! That is a marvelous insight! Judy is an icon and a pioneer! The color and timber is still beautiful!
Do you know what orchestra this is? The piano player looks familiar and I've seen him around before but some of those orchestra players look like they're young enough to be college students
REST IN PEACE STEPHEN SONDHEIM.
What a mesmerizing performer. She's every bit the Sweet Judy Blue Eyes I've loved these many years.
Woah! Age has not done a thing to Judy’s voice. I cannot get over her vocal control. ❤
Wow that Oboe was killing perfect!
Cor Anglais, similar to but deeper in pitch than the oboe.
@@keeshond8 thank you, I just discovered it was the EH (English Horn)
Gorgeous and stirring of deep emotions.
My thoughts exactly.
Wow, this is incredibly beautiful. I think her voice is more beautiful now than when I listened to my parents' records of her when I was a child in the 1960s and 70s. How can someone's voice get better even into one's senior years? Whatever it may be, her singing is absolutely lovely. Thank you.
Wonderful instrumentation’s with this awesome voice!!! ❤️.
Judy collins...always delivers. So good.
I saw this woman perform live on stage. She brought down the house. Judy Collins is a once in a lifetime true legendary singer and, entertainer.
My late wife’s favourite! Always found the album Judith on the turntable when I got home. Miss you so much.
Just stunning. I listened to the original while rocking my first child to sleep after she was born. Judy still has such a radiant voice - the song and her rendition has always moved me to tears
WTH! Judy still sounds and looks amazingly beautiful!
The voice of an angel. Stunning
Agreed 👍👍👍👍
Such a sustained pure voice. Never needs to embellish to show off her range. Always peaceful.
A wonderful rendition by a beautiful lady.
Judy Collins your voice is beautiful
MAN I LOVED this performance! Judy is as wonderful now as she ever was! It is a pure JOY to watch!
she is a wonder- what a voice still. full of admiration for her to perform this. may she continue
I was so thrilled to see Judy Collins who I had admired for over 40 years, when she appeared on stage in Hobart Tasmania Australia. We were honoured with her presence in a relatively remote part of the world, probably because of her generosity , and we were excited to see her at all , but more so because she sang with solo piano and accompanied herself on guitar most of the time. Not only was her voice as beautiful as ever, but we were subject to a rare , and for us , a remarkably overwhelmingly emotional experience of hearing several on the songs sung “ a capella” , I.e. solo voice. How rare for any singer to perform without accompaniment let alone at her age. We felt very honoured.
She still has it ! Keeping going too you hit 90 😃❤️😎🎉🙏🏻👍
The orchestra is also amazing
I've got goosebumps. Love her voice.
@Hello Gary how are you doing
Year after year, like the moon in the sky, still beautiful.
Amazing, stunning vocal performance, one classy lady - beautiful
As good as it gets. True, humble professionals. Thank you.
so beautifully performed, i get goosebumps hearing this. what a voice for your youthful years!! a nod also the orchestra and especially to the pianist for providing such a sympathetic accompaniment and a solid foundation on top of which Judy's vocal soars majestically. i love a grand piano that is played like this.
yes, I was going to comment - it's the strings and her pianist is not being floral.
STUNNING. Still beautiful.
Wow still a angelic voice and still a beautiful women at age 80.
Perfect marriage of material and performer. A classic for all time.
I've always loved Judy for giving us her healing, comforting voice. She is surely gifted.
Those vocal chords have top quality genetics. Was mighty surprised by how intact her talent is. Rare. ✊
Paying respects to the brilliant Stephen Sondheim. Thank you for sharing your genius with us. We are the better for it, for you.
Thank you Stephen. Judy you still have it voice in beauty. "Isn't it bliss?"
Absolutely bliss
Isn't it
A beautiful song, sung by a beautiful lady. I closed my eyes and was transported back to when we were all young and Judy sung this song, which touches my heart every time I hear it.
Mine, too.
Best preserved voice of them all. No more need be said
First time I saw her sing this, I became fixated on her beauty and grace. It was hard to stay dry eyed. The way a person sings a song has a lot to do with its power.
Always loved her.........that she sounds this fantastic still proves she must be a true angel! God Bless Her.
This just popped up. The first time in a long time that I have heard it. A beautiful song, beautifully done. Other great singers have done this. This is my favorite.
One of the greatest songs ever written and the definitive version is here. Incredible voice…Tearful here xx
The woman ages with grace✨
Makes me cry.every.single.Time.
I have to bite My tongue.
If You know, You know
There's very few singers that as they have aged and literally have gotten better She's one them . Most get worse George Jones got better as he got older but very few a freak thing in music it doesn't happen much !
Many sing this song but Judy has always owned it and continues to so with great style and panache. A wonderful performance
If this is 2020 ish Nottingham, I was there, man on a piano. And Judy singing, one of the best live performances I’ve been lucky enough to have gone to. Thank you Judy and the guy on the piano xxxxxx❤🎉
Her voice sounds just as good as it did 50 years ago!! Wonderful!
From a 75 year grizzled old coot….the tears flowed. And freely.
I am probably as a grizzled of an old coot as you, nothing wrong with tears.
I am also an 82nd Airborne medic who held people in my arms as they left this world, wish they could have herd this song instead of looking at my ugly mug. So much pain.
Stay Well!!!
*Bless you. I'm 25 and know nothing about the world. This song and performance also brought me to tears.*
Bingo again
Curious... do coots come in non-grizzled?
@@akrenwinkle only those that are non-ursine.
Judy Collins beautifully sings the theme song for the Biden administration.
She absolutely has so much class, truly a musician in her own destiny.
Deeply moving!
My mother was a professional clown, this was her favorite song. It was played at her funeral.
Bravo !!!!! BRAVISMO!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹😘
I do not know the explaination, but this song remember me when I stayed in Itajubá on 10/26/1979...😢
Stunningly beautiful in all aspects of her being......her voice, her presence, her appearance all so inspiring!
Hello
@@Donaldhoward009 You inspired me to listen again to Judy Collings sing this beautiful song. I was playing this on the piano last night but the singer did not have the richness and feeling for the song. Our choir is performing this song next weekend on Salt Spring Island, B.C. Cheers! Susan
@@susanbull7131 That's good. How are you doing susan ?
I'm crying again. Beautiful song, beautiful voice, but my stomach always aches when I hear this. .........💔
I know exactly whay you mean❤️
The woman on the saxophone was as vital as Judy.
it is actually an English horn.
Sourpuss! @@chenwenhua2269
You mean the oboe?
It might be a Cor Anglais.
Thank you@@chenwenhua2269
Isn't it rich?
それってリッチじゃない?
Are we a pair?
私たちペアでしょう?
Me here at last on the ground
私はついにここ地上だけど
You in mid-air..
あなたは空に浮いたまま
Where are the clowns?
ピエロなんて何処にいるのよ?
Isn't it bliss?
それって最高じゃない?
Don't you approve?
そう思わない?
One who keeps tearing around
一人は涙にくれてさまよっているのに
One who can't move...
一人は動けないでいる…
Where are the clowns?
ピエロなんて何処にいるのよ?
Send in the clowns
そのピエロを呼んで来てよ
Just when I'd stopped opening doors
私がドアを開けるのをやめたまさにその時
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
私が求めていた人はあなたそのものだとようやく分かったの
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
またいつもの格好で入って行くわ
Sure of my lines...
言いたいことを心に決めて…
No one is there
でもそこには誰も居ないの
Don't you love farce?
あなたはおふざけがキライ?
My fault, I fear
私の間違いね、悲しわ
I thought that you'd want what I want...
私、あなたが望むものは私の望むものと思ってたの…
Sorry, my dear!
ごめんなさい、ディア!
And where are the clowns
それでピエロはどこにいるのよ
Send in the clowns
そのピエロを連れて来て
Don't bother, they're here
問題ないわ、ここに居たから
Isn't it rich?
それってリッチじゃない?
Isn't it queer?
それって変?
Losing my timing this late in my career
私、タイミングを失ったわ、私の人生最後の時点で
And where are the clowns?
それでそのピエロはどこにいるのよ?
There ought to be clowns...
そこにピエロはいるべきよ…
Well, maybe next year
まあ、多分来年かもね
I dont recall which song was playing on one of her albums but I’ll always remember that voice in the background the night I lost my virginity 😊😊😊😊
Saw Judy in concert when she was in her twenties. She had a fabulous voice then and still has.
Watching this is like 1967 all over again! All of us have aged -- but she is still the same.
totally agree. seeing her on 8/30/24 in Mass.
Judy Blue Eyes.....her voice is so beautiful, and pure, after all these years.
I've had tickets for a year now to see Judy in Lenox, Mass.(postponed by Covid-19) and pray that it happens in 2021. Please. !! Just got confirmation for August show.
Hope you get a chance to see this angel, my friend. I envy you.
@@mr.noseybonk8716 Gee Thanks, 2 more days. I'll keep you posted!
@@mr.noseybonk8716 I saw her last Sat. OMG miraculous performance with a new short haircut.
saw her. OMG
@@mr.noseybonk8716 I did on Sat . 9/3/22
Impeccable rendition of this impeccable song.
Judy Collins has been my favorite female vocalist since 1968. She is an amazing artist with extraordinary skill , enormous talent and delightful grace . We are about the same age , and it amazes me that she still performs at such a high level ; her lovely voice is still totally intact . And her ease and Grace in performing hasn’t lost a step . Lovely Judy ( beautiful blue eyes ) inspires me to have vitality and vibrancy in my own way in my life . I am so grateful for this outstanding person . May she continue to enchant us with her God-given talent . Thank you , Judy . ❤️
Still a hauntingly beautiful song and well sung by the lady who made it famous.
When Judy Collins first came to most people's attention with Amazing grace I had never heard a voice so pure and clear.
Then here we are over fifty years later and the purity, beauty and timing are still there. An amazing talent that we have been lucky enough to witness for ourselves. Thank you Judy.
Absolutely beautiful I could listen to this all day, what a voice 👏👏👏👏👏
for years I loved the song, but had no idea really what is was about---then one night I studied the song...and wow- it is so complex and sad. Learn the story if you have not.
What a class act. She is breathtakingly beautiful in all ways.
Magnificent voice .
Judy sounds as beautiful as she is to this day. God bless you Judy Collins.
Stay Well!!!
Wow! This was well executed and her tone of voice after all these years fits it perfectly now.
Such a sweet, full, uplifting voice.
I've loved her choice of songs and angelic voice since I first heard her sing this on the radio way back then. I was a teen then, and was surprised her Birthday was the same as mine, May 1. Would dance and exercise to her songs for years back then, then lost touch with her and her songs. Wasn't until I was like 50 that I stumbled upon her again. Still has the voice of an angel, that's for sure.
This is so stunning
Such a magnificently beautiful soul,love her always!!!❤❤❤
Perfection!
Beautiful and Graceful, always ❤️ elegant...
Always a Lady 💗
so beautiful. thank you, Ms Collins.
Stunning and strangely apt for these times 💗 xxx
Best female vocalist, to date.
Lets not get stupid
Like listening to angels singing
What a pure and exquisite voice! Thankyou for sharing.....💚💚, you've made me smile ☺
How delicate and
powerful is the orchestra?
This is magnificent - an incredible voice and this song = sublime perfection.
