I thought to myself, the songwriter should’ve written “If you ever forget I love you”, that would be more romantic. But I realized that sometimes we know that the other person loves us, but there are just times when we feel like we are falling out of love, but in reality, we do love them back, we just forget. And sometimes it’s great to be reminded, that we love them too.
I see what you're saying and I don't disagree. Yet I loved the words as they are because they reminded me of when my husband went in the hospital a few years ago. He had trouble remembering things like what year it was, whether he took his medicine, where he was - but he always remembered who I was. When he got better and his mind returned to normal he said nothing could ever make him forget me. When listening to this song I also thought about those whose spouses have dementia and forgot who they are.
Here's my take: We romanticize. We see love on the big silver screens and think that to love somebody, you must always feel in love. But that is not the truth, some days you are angry, hurt, disappointed, lost, afraid, frustrated - because no person is perfect and your partner will fail you, because they are not you, they do not cope like you, they did not grow up like you, might not even show love like you do. But that does not mean it's not worth it, and that there isn't love there. It just means that somedays in your relationship you will have to fight for it when your mind is fighting against it. Leaving little notes to open on those days can savour a lot. So to my love, if you ever forget that you love me, I will be here to remind you, when you are ready again. ♡

I can’t tell if this is happy or sad? I mean it’s real, it’s raw, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. Some people forget that they love their partner, and then they remember. And some people continue to forget until it’s too late to remember. But I think at some point, after a lifetime with someone, everyone forgets.
To the person who read this, It’s been hard for you, I know, and it makes me sad that you don’t see yourself in the way I see you. Sometimes they are things in life that cause us to loose ourselves, and the way you have is so unimaginable painful. You deserve to get up in the morning and feel good about yourself. You deserve to feel something- to feel every damn second alive in this lifetime. I see what you're saying and I don't disagree. Yet I loved the words as they are because they reminded me of when my husband went in the hospital a few years ago. He had trouble remembering things like what year it was, whether he took his medicine, where he was - but he always remembered who I was. When he got better and his mind returned to normal he said nothing could ever make him forget me. When listening to this song I also thought about those whose spouses have dementia and forgot who they are.

Here's my take:
We romanticize. We see love on the big silver screens and think that to love somebody, you must always feel in love.
But that is not the truth, some days you are angry, hurt, disappointed, lost, afraid, frustrated - because no person is perfect and your partner will fail you, because they are not you, they do not cope like you, they did not grow up like you, might not even show love like you do.
But that does not mean it's not worth it, and that there isn't love there.
It just means that somedays in your relationship you will have to fight for it when your mind is fighting against it.
Leaving little notes to open on those days can savour a lot.

It’s been hard for you, I know, and it makes me sad that you don’t see yourself in the way I see you. Sometimes they are things in life that cause us to loose ourselves, and the way you have is so unimaginable painful. I miss your smile, the way your eyes light up the whole room just by the sound of your laughter. I miss the way you accepted the way you look in the mirror without cursing yourself out about how ugly you look. I miss the way you didn’t think of yourself as a failure because everyone makes mistakes, we all have flaws and we all aren’t perfect. It’s painful to see that no one around you seems to see the pain trough your eyes, but, stranger, I do, I see how heavy your heart is and how comforting the sadness for you might be, how afraid your heart is of happiness because it disappears in the end, right? You don’t know how much impact you have in this world and it’s sad to see that your demons fight against you and want to take over you. Because you do make change, it’s something so simple and little that brightens up someone’s whole world, it can be a small smile from your lips, the way you look at things you’re passionate about, the way you make yourself eat even though it’s been hard for you lately, the way you zoom out and go in your own world, you brighten up my world by reading this, it means a lot to me that you’re here, existing, but I don’t want you to just exist, you deserve to feel alive. You deserve to get up in the morning and feel good about yourself. You deserve to feel something- to feel every damn second alive in this lifetime. It’s heartbreaking that you think you’re not capable of being loved, because you are, I love you trough all my words and I hope you let it happen in your heart.
