He never left afterwards. He's like a pimple you can't get rid off easily. But, he made me understand how much he cared for me with his efforts and how he accepts me regardless of my immaturity and insecurities. I understood how badly he wanted me to be with him. (Obsession at it's best) I realize that i could improve myself beside him, that I can depend on him when times I just feel helpless. He did so many things to have me, and did so many things to have me again. I'm grateful I have him with me. (Thankfully he's not the maniac type of obsessed man.)

Ben has said this wasn't written because someone broke up with him. He actually wrote this from the perspective of the person he separated with. He was the one who needed space. I wonder if he's crying because he doesn't mean this song to be benefiting from their sadness, or using their heartbreak for profitable inspiration; he means this as a way of empathy and understanding the person. In the end: the song is still making him money; and I think the double edged sword is horribly painful to bear, because he means well, and is worried after breaking up with them, this song will come off wrong to the person it's meant for.

I love how people interpret this song differently. Some people see it as a breakup song for two people who love each other and just are not right for each other. While others see this song as a tribute to partners growing together through challenges.
Yes, I know he wrote it about a relationship he had where he knew they just weren’t right for each other. But that’s the beauty of music. Interpretation!
So my interpretation is, I made this new friend and I didn't think twice about it he doesn't want to date anyone n just be friends.
Then after spending time with him he made me notice that I wasnt just falling for his personality but i was falling for him.
(Of course never confessing this to him but I'm sure he knew by the way I simply held his hand or the way my eyes looked at him So Deeply.)
So I kept asking myself why has God brought this person into my life and why do I hold him so closely to me?
He's always kept people at a far distance cuz he says he wants to leave behind the smallest print of damage (as a grenade he referenced himself)
After a while he told me his sercret.
That he was dying from cancer n the doctors told him he be lucky to live 3-6 months. It took everything in me not to fall to my knees in front of him n not cry, but I knew I had to be strong standing there hearing this, at the same time I never felt my heart be torn apart in this new different way.
All I wanted was his company n the way he's shaping me to be the man I should be n always wanted to be.
So as I'm growing n learning from him I decided to spend every second that I can have with him as a gift. While we all have a soulmate or soulmates in this world we never know how much time we have to spend with that person,
So I'm gonna enjoy it n bring as much happiness into his world bcuz he has brought so much love into my heart.
PS: he's still alive n still going from the time expectancy the doctors gave him.

Practice and post-production. Distortion, some reverb, many harmony layers, Eq and compression. And a lot of love
as a broadway performer, you have to know the rules. with really good contemporary music, you have to know the rules to break them. when you constantly sing live, you must adapt your voice, thus it will have a natural, smooth sound.
@Dawniebug I guess it's practicing with the proper techniques and instruction. I've been singing in front of people for the last 11 years. It's all been based on what I hear and think I need to do from what I see others do, but my voice is never crisp or clean sounding. I think I need proper training for that on top of practice.
The most beautiful thing anyone can ever do is accept your flaws, your insecurities and help you overcome them. The most beautiful kind of love is the one that is not perfect, but the one that helps you grow as you go. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever find someone like that. I don't know if you've ever loved someone who struggles with the demons of manic depression but there is a detaching they do when they hit their lows- a pushing away as they wrestle with all of the worst solutions to a battle they feel like they never win. The first time I heard this song, it had me in a ball on the floor. I wanted to call my daughter, immediately, and play it for her. This is what I feel every time she goes to that dark place. I get that this was written from the perspective of two people in a romantic relationship but I will never see it as anything but a mother begging her daughter to just keep holding on. That she doesn't have to go to the dark places alone.
Oh, I believe there are more people than you know who relate to this song in a similar way. I pray for you and your daughter. You are not alone.

I don't like to listen to this song in public, or share it with friends. because I can't bring myself to explain it. I've attached pieces of my past to the lyrics and I use the melody to go back in time-- when I want to remind myself of the pain and the strength and the growth it took to get here. This song/video... I literally broke down crying the first time; watching the deep emotion in Ben's face. Watching the dancers' tension, then tenderness, then conflict. It's overwhelming. There really should be 2 separate videos, 1 dedicated to each performance. I keep thinking what I'm missing when the scene changes from Ben to the dancers, and then back. It's both too much... and not enough. Maybe that's why I keep coming back every few days trying to drink it all in.

I had to let him go. I had to force myself to realize he's not going to grow as we go. I was the one who had to make the decision for both our sakes.
For the first time in my life i was in love, and i had to come to terms with the fact that it was just a lesson to finally put myself first. Because no matter how many times he said, he didn't love me enough to solve his problems, just to blame me.
He refused to get better.

My boyfriend just broke up with me last night. He’s really struggling with depression and anxiety and the medication he’s on isn’t working for him. I kept trying to softly push him to try new medication cause I knew that’d help him so much. He broke up with me because he felt overwhelmed by everything and just wanted to be alone for awhile till he gets better. But I really wish he had let me be here for him. I can give space, I can help, and I wish I could send this song to him but I feel like it’s just be pitiful.
Hi! I would send him a message, just checking on him and telling him what you wrote on this comment! Tell him that while you can't feel the same as he is experiencing, you want to be there for him (as a partner or as a friend) whenever he needs and wants. Having depression and anxiety is so exhausting and overwhelming, and sometimes we think the quickest way to stop that awful feeling is pushing away the people we love and self-isolating. Oh, and you did the right thing softly pushing him, but perhaps he just needs to adjust to the situation first and find a little peace and strength before he tries a new medication. I wish both of you the best!

Me and my wife grew up together and have known each other since we were 5. We were friends then enemies, lovers, then parents. We now have a baby boy and have grown to learn so much from each other and about each other. Love is not agreement but acceptance and appreciation. My partner put this song on our car playlist and I cry every time it comes on.
This song has been a wild ride for me. At first, it was a song that made me feel sad because I had a relationship where I wanted to grow with them. We broke up a bit before I found this song. A year or so later, we had both grown as people and found each other again. We're going on our second year anniversary for the first time, with a total of about 3.5 years in the relationship, and now we're actually growing together, supporting each other. I think we needed the time apart, but *man* am I happy we got back together. But yeah, this song is a bit crazy cause now I have what I once lacked

Sadly sometimes growing as you go leads to growing apart...I can relate to this in nit just romantic relationships but with friendships and family relationships, And also just relationships in general...yow grow and learn as you go and just because someone is out of your life that doesn't mean you didn't grow from it...ive learned so much about what i want out of life...and a good portion of my life had to be done alone...ive realized i needed to be happy with myself before i could be happy with someone else...until recently i was a major alcoholic and it has affected most relationships and Sadly some of the relationships not necessarily directly but i was unhappy and drank and the more i drank the more i drank, which caused alot of problems...but i needed that time to lose myself to find myself and start rebuilding myself and realizing what is and isn't important in my life...someday i hope to find my life partner but i still have some self growing to do, until i can grow with someone else...

Well.... I showed this song to my lover today. We both are 16 and have this big exam in front of us. And he just found out that a lot of things need to change in him. Luckily, I'm a nurse, and this was when COVID-19 Wasn't a real threat yet. I managed to help the man and only come off with a warning and fine. Now, she's the sweetest dog anyone could ask for. I cried watching this video because I had just recently went through a divorce. I will always be a theater kid at heart.

My wife played this song for me a few years ago it was very moving as we have been together since we were 15 and we have two wonderful children. She passed away two weeks ago at 36 years old after a valiant battle with breast cancer. I and my young children are so very shattered.

Literally, yes! A guy I was getting to know was getting really close to me. Things felt like they were taking a serious turn. I don't let people in easy and he knew that... I started pulling away from him. Before I could really do that though, he sent this to me early one January morning. It was the first thing I heard after waking and I literally got chills, cried, and let go of so much emotion. I have felt so much lighter since that day. I decided to give it a shot. Give him a shot. Best decision I've ever made. We've been together since then and I pray it never ends. I mean I don't know if we're forever, things can change, but he's opened my heart in so many ways. I'll always be grateful to him, and to Ben for this beautiful and touching song. I still get goosebumps when I listen to this, thinking back to that morning.
