New Episode! ruclips.net/video/axujql1_t1Y/видео.html Venture into the legendary Capertee Hotel, an iconic bush pub perched on the edge of a breathtaking canyon in New South Wales.
When I was a youngster, I worked with a gang of Aussies out of Earls Court in West London. I was about 16 and homeless.
I fell on my feet with these fellas. They took me on board and showed me how to live and work. Blinding company. I miss them even to this day.
Its comments like this that help me get through life. Thanks for sharing
"Sounds like you had a true Aussie family away from home! It's amazing how people can touch our lives and leave lasting memories. Here's to the mates who become family. Cheers!"
Earls Court otherwise known as Little Australia. Glad you got sorted, back in the 1960s pubs were Labour Exchanges. My dad could line up tunneling gangs on Saturday night ready for Monday morning.
Straight work but one month you bought a new Mini Cooper, gave the lodge to mum and plenty of Fullers coupons.@@uptownonfriday
Good stuff. So, how are you doing now, well I hope?
I had my first beer at the wombat pub when I 15 years old I was working on a strawberry farm and the boss used to have a few beers after work and bring me a beer while I sat in the car brings back great memories for me (and he was a copper 👮 shoosh) I just had to subscribe cheers the ol caretaker 👍🍻🇦🇺
Thanks for the comment mate hope this brings back some memories!

I love small towns
The best
Reminds me of some good old English pubs which unfortunately get fewer by the day. Pubs where if Fred didn't turn up someone went around to his house to check he was ok. If you wanted a plumber he was sat at the bar and if you needed a job someone knew of one and the banter made it a local, :).
Those were the days where every pint came with a side of community spirit
honestly think thats mostly ruined due to the price of pints these days. Bloody outrageous just cheaper to drink at home.
@@boxedlife789 Cannot argue with that the price of beer in the pub is ridiculous and its not the landlord making the money I know that from experience.
Couldn't have put it better myself, just how I remember proper English pubs. Cheers !!
I'm so fortunate enough to live in a very small country town, just like the one you describe (Western Australia)..One of the LAST places with 0% crime, keys in ya car, doors unlocked, everyone knows each other and 'your word' is all you need. Good people, good country.
Great video. I lived in Australia when i was younger, and this shows the real Australia and true Aussies. Would love to have a beer in there one day 👍
Great to hear that the video brought back some Aussie vibes for ya! 🇦🇺🤩 Keep the Aussie spirit alive wherever you roam! Cheers, mate! 🐨✌️
I got my first royal flush in this pub at 15 it was a different time back then. Young was the best place to grow up in the 90's, I wish my kids & Grandkids had that kind of life now.
snagging your first royal flush in a pub at 15? That's legendary stuff!! 🃏🍻 90s were a ripper time, Miss those days! Here's to hoping we can sprinkle a bit of that magic for our kids and grandkids
@@thelocal2856 Yeh I had no Idea what it was the machine just went crazy. The guys I was with collected it and told me what it was and how rare it dropped. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle and the history of Peeps. Here in New England 🇺🇸 we had a lot of pubs/ bars due to the Industrial Revolution and the working man needed a beer now and then after a hard day in the mills or factories. Will drink a cold one for you. 🍺
Thanks for sharing!
Coming from the bush but now living in Sydney with my family, we almost always head west for our holidays while the rest of Sydney heads up/down the coast. We love the people, that their eyes and their mouths speak the same thing and they are genuinely interested in you. We've camped on a property out of Young, been invited to a big local cook-up at the Louth hotel, had a hamburger in Gilgandra cooked by the local mayor, had beers with farmers in Bourke, wandered around Wilcannia, stayed on oodles of cattle properties etc. etc. Never had a problem and met the best people we've ever met. Love your channel mate and cheers from a country bloke in Sydney - Dave
While everyone else is hitting the beaches, you're off on your own outback odyssey. Must be something in the bush air that keeps drawing you back, eh? Cheers to being a city slicker with a country heart!
I love that description,"their eyes and mouths speak the same thing". Cheers from Canada
Looking forward to reading your autobiography

I bought an old Ford F600 truck, across the road and a few doors down from the Wombat hotel in 1986. Spent all morning working on the engine to get it going then had lunch and a beer at the Pub with my dad.
Classic Aussie vibes right there! 🚚💨 Cheers to memories like these that make life unforgettable! 🇦🇺👍
I had an awesome encounter loosing my cherry aged 16 with a local young lady round the back of the pub one Friday night
I still remember it foundly and wow she played an awesome tune on my flute
Those are the tales that make life worth living mate!
“ He drinks his beer that slow I gave him a sippy cup “ ! 💞😂😂😂😂😂💞 God I LOVE our old Aussie’s !

In the mid 70s my family turned up for a lunch there was no cook so barman let my mum go into kitchen and make our lunch while I was taught to pull a beer..I was 3..❤❤❤wombat my first pub.
What a fantastic memory! Talk about starting young!
Just passing through about 8yrs ago, I had a steak that was hanging over the plate, just like the good old days.👍
Very cool!
Me and my mate rode dirt bikes in the bush and would always rock up to the wombat covered in mud dripping wet and always welcomed in for a beer and feed around the fire.
That's the Aussie spirit, mate! 🏍️💨 That's the stuff memories are made of. 🍻
Thank you for producing this wonderful portrayal of a good, well-managed Aussie pub. They aren't all like this. This one I will have to experience . Thanks again. Subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve traveled the world and most of Australia and there is nothing like an outback country pub. Love this series thanks mate xo
My people love it
Cheers Brian
in big towns and cities these types of pubs have all but gone, just themed pubs and bars owned by big breweries, having a community pub/club is pure gold, I grew up going in the village with a royal British legion community club, it was a hub for everyone, the big room for bingo for the oldies, wedding, wakes, birthday parties, the bar for the lads and gals to watch the footy, play darts, pool, poker etc, and a quiet lounge for couples and families, even Christmas day we'd go for a beer then home for dinner, so many great memories of friends past and present, it just had proper characters.
Cheers lee
Stralia right there! No better place on the planet. Great story that makes you proud to be an Aussie! Gotta get to Wombat one day!
Definitely worth a visit just for the banter alone!
I visited a very similar pub with regiment mates on tour. We just sat at the bar with locals all quiet watching Leeds fans running amok in Bournemouth. Somewhere near victoria staying with Ozzie cavalry, pink final drive oil and snake tracks in the morning, somewhere in there is the name of a cocktail.
Super Leeds! Saturday 5th May 1990.
Cheers
G'day mate. Just calling in from across the ditch here in Nz. Usual story. Stumbled on your channel, liked and subscribed. A bit of a heads-up for you. Bloody ripper of a pub - we have a beer there all the time and the occasional meal. It's certainly not remote though - we usually call in for a beer on our way home from Bunnings 🤣
Swing by after a trip to Bunnings? Now that's a true Aussie tradition!@ Cheers to snagging a brew after some DIY adventures! 🛠️🇦🇺
Was expecting Nolesy and Crazy Steve to walk in at any moment 😂
recon they would blend in like they've been here all along
Even as a Pommie got to admit i can't help but love the Aussie sense of humour😂
In the country anyway
Give me an old pub any day as long as the floors swept at least once a week and the glass's are spotless. These plastic wood places where the "manager" does not have a clue about beer have sprung up in every town in UK. I love to have a chat at the bar, and I got chatting to a guy, we supped a few and he told me he's been into Cheltenham once and was only maybe 5 miles away. I told him I was going to London the next we and he was welcome to come. I did my business and took him on a tour, hit a couple of back-alley pubs, ate pie & mash. Dropped him back intime for the "last orders" and did not visit for a week or so. When I walked in the landlord and the congregation pelted me with beer mats. Jimmy has not stopped talking about his trip to London, I told I was off to Spain the next week and was thing of inviting J. I got pelted again and told to FO.
Sounds like you've got a real appreciation for the authentic pub experience, mate!
I loved the public bar with no nancy cocktails, just over filled pints and down the hatch chasers. First time I was in the Lounge I nearly tripped over on the carpet and spilt me beer, that would have been a disaster me being sober as well.@@thelocal2856

We used to race from Young to Wombat. A mate had the record in his HG Premier V8. Done at night with headlights off..... My mate who lived opposite the pub had a pet wombat which used to hang out at the pub.

thanks mate, Welcome aboard the pub-crawling adventure
Used to travel the Olympic hwy From mt Victoria to Melbourne. The Wombat is a great public house (pub). Always stopped for a drink and a feed and a chin wag. It's been 19 yrs now since i traveled that road. To many public houses are being gentrified and loosing their way. The imperial at mount vic tried it and Died.
It's been a fair whack since your last trip down that road, but those memories are still fresh!
😂I used to work in the area. As a lone woman I never stopped at the pub. Always wondered about it though. Never went through Wombat without stopping at a road side stall for the Wombat Bum Nuts..aka fresh farm eggs. Enjoyed this story.
Haha, fair call! Safety first, especially when you're tackling the country solo. But hey, the Wombat Bum Nuts are a local legend in their own right! Glad you enjoyed the story, and maybe one day you'll swing by the Wombat for a yarn and a pint.

Good on you Craig! - Thanks again for your time with us.
New South Wales people are a bit different from other states. They know how to dish it out as well as receive it. They don't take themselves too seriously and like to banter. Might be the Irish heritage.
Plenty of crap thrown at this pub and no one takes it too seriously
Had relos live there yrs ago, did some fireworks there once.

Rum and Milk - FOR BREAKFAST?

Mate, you must have some serious staying power to remember those Wombat days from 1917! That's a legendary throwback. Bet the beer tasted even better after dodging the kangaroos and bushrangers on your way there. Here's to timeless memories and a pint-worthy journey through history! Cheers! 🍻
What a bostin boozer!🇬🇧
What is a bostin boozer?
Remote ive seen pubs like that 60mins from adelaide
The Aussie definition of "remote" can be a bit... flexible, can't it!? 😄 Just goes to show, you don't have to venture too far to find a fair dinkum pub with good vibes and cold brews!
How much is a pint now a days i love local pubs never been to Australia but one day I hope to
Ah, mate, local Aussie pubs are the heart and soul of our culture! 🍻 As for the price of a beer, it can vary depending on where you are in Oz, but you're looking at around $8 to $10 on average. But hey, it's not just about the drink, it's the vibe, the banter, and the community that make it all worth it.
Won't be a pt schooner is largest about three quarters ov pt
Great to see the shackle draggers having a great time in a good old country pub, reminds me of the village pub that I grew up in here in the UK 7 nights a week and sat and sun dinner times, piss taking was an art form, these woke wankers are trying to change this so it's great to see Wombat like I remember pubs used to be 👍

Great people, great community, it's good to enjoy a drink but man that drinking and smoking is clearly taking its toll on people's health and that community, never seen so many unwell and unhealthy looking people in one place, if you want an advert for the harm that long term drinking and smoking does to you this is it.
