Please post an official update and video about Liberty. I do have a related question. Would changing the name of a bird estimated to be around 40 years old be confusing to the bird? I just wondered about that because Oscar had already been through a lot of trauma with being locked in his cage for 30 years. Being moved to another environment would be stressful in itself, I would think. Then, to not be called by the name he has always been called - would that add to his confusion and stress or not?
You really should post an update. The ending is probably sad. But it is the only right thing to do especially when you ask people for donations and people do donate.
I'm not sure why there was never an update here. No other videos at all of any birds after this one. I did some digging on Facebook (Animal Alliance of San Diego, Oct 2020) and Liberty had three more tests, all of which came out NEGATIVE. So that's amazing news. He does NOT have the disease.
Thank you for this comment, was so sad to see this video straight after the rescue one:( for sure thought he had passed. Odd they didn't post a video about the negative test results. A lot of people are wondering
I just watched 2 videos on Liberty and wondered why no updates on him? I see from comments that he is negative and doing well. Any updates, it's been 2 years, on his progress?
Thank you for giving this poor baby as best a life as possible. I cried about this so hard, I can’t imagine someone keeping such a beautiful creature with such complex emotions confined in such a tiny cage

Could you please give us an update on Liberty? What were the results of the second test? I am hoping for a miracle. My thoughts are with you all. Thank you for rescuing Liberty and giving him love and care.

My heart is breaking 💔 My African Grey passed from the Avian Bornavirus recently 💔💔💔💔 All my birds are now exposed 💔 Sending tons of prayers 💕🙏💕 Please get another test done.
I lost my first budgie of two years to avian bornavirus disease. He was such a beautiful, incredible baby who wowed everyone with his behaviour and colors but sadly like all things he had to go. That was 1 month and 7 days ago. I understand having not knowing his pain till after his last breath, just know they love you and loved you till the very end ❤.
@@victoriahuffman3997 I know you'll do everything you can to give him the best life possible. I understand that it's absolutely heartbreaking, but being in that tiny cage was worse for him mentally, and he doesn't know his diagnosis, so he's much happier now, despite how much the situation is hurting you, so hold on to that.
Crying to find out about this deadly disease. Then I read the comment below from you. So happy to know about Freedom testing negative. I had a Cockatiel (she passed on) and I always wondered if my sweet KiKi could catch a deadly disease. She never did. Thank goodness. Love to you and Freedom. Thank you for the update on Freedom
I'm so sorry. It's so heartbreaking. So glad he gets the best care possible now. I hope his test was false positive or mixed up because he looks so good. Sending prayers for him and Victoria!🙏🙏🙏
My self funded parrot rescue has been exposed to PBFD as well I am in process of separating out positives from negative .I ordered a 36 ft outside aviary and found a avian vet who will help me through this. I had the sick bird in a separate part of my home and it does move once in your home. I started all 32 birds on a high hemp diet with their pellets and seed . I will not give up on any of these birds.
He is beautiful, I’m sorry to hear about his results! I’m shocked, I rescued a corella cross galah hybrid and I took him to the vet. The vet got us to test for beak and feathers especially since he has damaged feathers on his wings and waiting for the results was stressful as we worried about him and our other bird. Luckily my boy was negative but I feel like this disease needs to be talk about more and awareness needs to shared outside the Avian community. My boy has trauma and reminds me of liberty but is only 3 yrs old, I pray for liberty and you. I know it is hard, they capture your heart even knowing they are more work... this is a sign of true love. I wish you all the best and either way he is in a better and place than where he was.
My heart is breaking for Liberry. And also for Victoria as I know how badly she wanted to show this sweet and gorgeous baby what his life is supposed to be like: a life full of joy, happiness, love, companionship and a healthy environment with people who are truly committed to him. Such a huge disappointment as I know how wonderful it is to see Liberty outside of a cage and exploring his world. It pains me to think of all the years he was so terribly neglected and I want the world for this gorgeous baby. I will pray that perhaps the next test comes back different and that Victoria is able to give Liberals all that she had hoped for. This is all just so unfair. 🙏🏻😰😰
probably born with it or got it from it's parents in it's nest. Apparently the test is coming back negative now, but all wild parrots in Australia have this disease from the above method & in reality, the VAST majority of pet parrots in Australia likewise have it, due to interactions with wild birds, no-one even tests for it here, it's just assumed all parrots have it
Having exotic birds in captivity must be stopped. It is a terrible thing to take a beautiful wild bird put it in a cage as an exhibit just to satisfy the wants of a selfish, irresponsible human. The welfare of these poor souls always comes last with much misery and suffering as a result. This has to stop. Thank you for saving these beautiful birds from a cruel and terrible life. So sorry that the news was so sad about Liberty.
I think he has been quarantined because the timing of them just trying to coax him out of the cage. I don't think they had placed him with other birds because of the videos of him in his new room. Love you Pebble!
Awful news that he has this terrible disease :( the main thing is that he has a good quality of life rather than a long life, but it's so hard to manage particularly when you have other birds to keep safe.
I hope someone will be able to take him , is it possible he may never show signs of this disease and will just be a carrier , i ask because he was on his own so long and looks healthy. I have a feeling someone will be found that can have him . I just read from something called survivor of beak and feather disease who was surprised when their lovebird survived because he had never heard of a survivor before . I have so much racing around in my head that I am jumping from one thing to another but , I really hope something works out , he looks adorable .
It's believed that all wild parrots in Australia are either immune or carriers, it's just so widespread! The vast majority of birds with this disease aren't impacted by it, what does happen is a significant number of the babies are too sick with it to be able to survive, after being infected by their parents, so they die as babies & those that are immune or can overcome it survive. Tough one is the lorikeets, cause they end up as "runners", cause the way it impacts them is that their flight feathers don't grow all other feathers are completely fine with that species), so when it's time to leave the nest, they just fall to the ground & either die or get rescued & either put into care or euthinased. Some of those runners will become pets (although it's technically illegal) & some of them actually do eventually manage to overcome the disease & grow their feathers & can be released, but it's controversial as to if they should be, due to being carriers & infectious, but again, it's believe that all parrots in Australia carry it anyway. There's lots of runners as pets in Australia in reality, they make awesome pets most of the time, they tend to have great personalities, naturally wing clipped, but don't seem to suffer any of the negatives of that, they've never known any different, so they just hop & climb around and think that's normal. Owners need to be conscious of nutrition with them, due to the PBFD, but as long as that's managed appropriately, they live long & healthy lives without any problems. Given as you say, this bird is healthy & has had it for 30 years, there's absolutely nothing to suggest that when moved into a better cage/aviary & given proper nutrition it will ever have any problems with PBFD. Long term liver disease & other damage from 30 years of such a poor diet are much more of a threat than PBFD is!

Sending positive thoughts to Liberty and Victoria. 💗 This video was so incredibly hard to watch. I shared the video of happy Liberty that Victoria posted and this one in my personal story and in several Facebook groups. People are praying for both of you. Also, I got several responses like "what's PBFD" from the bird people in these groups. Education about parrots is so poor. Hoping this story will shed light on 1 of the diseases. @Victoria, please stay strong! So many people are rooting for you and Liberty! 💓💓💓
M watching video and I am crying continuously becz this pain now I am going to today my vet make sure from test he had this pbfd virus and he cannot survive ..m totally broken ..
I'm baffled why people are so cruel....u can make his last days full of liberty....peace and happiness...these will be his happiest....God I wish I could take him! This is his only chance...
I know this video is seven months old but I wonder if it was a false positive? I had my Macaw tested for Avian Bornavirus after I purchased her (my first bird died from PDD that was brought on by ABV of which she must have had before I received her). The first PCR test came back positive, which was shocking. I was then told by a few people to find out if the test was sent to a lab in Ohio (VMD labs), because this lab was allegedly overworked and notorious for inconsistent results. The original person that told me this was the breeder herself so I had a feeling that she was just trying to discredit the lab to save her own reputation. However, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and had a second PCR test done at the University of Georgia's veterinary lab and it came back negative. I would definitely have it tested at multiple labs, especially if VMD is the lab were the specimen was sent (a lot of veterinarians seem to send there).
Sorry to hear that! He probably was a baby from breeder back then, never experienced his wild instincts, interactions with humans. So, he’s probably in shock, not knowing or how to respond to being out of cage. What’s interesting to me is that he/she didn’t pluck themselves due to stress of not feeling wanted or loved on by the adults that had him. I would love to have a Moluccan, but, I was told I would have to get rid of my 2 B&G’s in order to have one. If I didn’t live in an apartment, I would take him/her. Can’t due to max of allowed pets........I will follow page to keep up in his recovery of rehabilitating mind, body, trust and the freedom he’s going to experience.
@@kaitie4831 Which more recent video? It isn't right that they leave this video up and not update. I really don't look kindly on rescuers who play with our emotions. Makes me angry to be honest.
@@njtexit8 it's on her other channel parrot playhouse. She actually just did a live today there was an update and video of him along with many others. Think it's titled "I'm visiting a parrot rescue today".
🥺🥺🥺😭I’m so sorry to hear the bad news, so sad 😞 but at least he’s in good hands now with you and will have good rest of his life, praying for negative result 🙏🏻
pretty sad that once she found out the test was false positive like most PBFD tests do ALWAYS TEST AT LEAST 3 TIMES and with a different lab! These tests are NOT highly accurate false positive rate is extremely high!!! Im so thankful to GOD that this birds tests were false and he is a happy healthy rescue again.
Wow, that is deviating. You wouldn't know it to look at him. I was thinking , if anything, he would have liver disease because of his poor diet. PBFD wasn't even on my radar. I am so sorry for him and you too. This is so sad.
People can be so cruel, then people with a heart steps in to give these poor birds a good life. Please give us an update,PLEASE! I wish it was against the law to have any birds as so called pets! Birds are given wings to fly,not live 30+ years in a cage, not even one day in a cage,it's jail!
Absolutely do a retest! Maybe this is a false positive. He does look so healthy. It is hard to imagine how he has not mutilated himself with the treatment he endured. How would a bird padlocked a cafe for 30 years be exposed to this disease? Or is there more to the story than is known? I have a Goffin’s Cockatoo, Momo, that I got in 1998. I was her third owner and she was supposed to be around 5 years old. She has an open ring, so she is wild caught. She is extremely territorial and has killed a couple smaller birds. I had a Cockatiel she really seemed to have it in for. I also had a Nanday Conure, Charlie, and they were best buddies. Charlie would sit under Momo’s wing for hours. I tried to keep them in separate cages, and did most of the time, but Momo could get out of her cage and into Charlie’s is a minute. I timed it. Charlie died of cancer in around 2012. Oh how I miss him. I am really pulling for Liberty and hope a retest gets better results. Even though the test that was given is very accurate, the sample may have gotten contaminated somehow. Which means finding out where that happened to find a sick bird. These birds are supposed to outlive us, but I had an Congo African Grey who died of congestive heart failure when he around 11. BTW, I am now 74. I think my daughter will make sure my “new” CAG and Momo are taken care of. I know she likes my CAG. Before birds, I was involved in breeding (on a VERY limited basis) and exhibiting Standard Poodles. The way companion animals can get so deep inside our hearts is hard to explain to people who have never experienced it. My 8 year old champion Standard Poodle died in 1984 and I still miss her.
Thank you for all of your support. Liberty's test came back negative. He is doing well. 💚

How i despise scammers
Oh NO! 😢😢😢 I’m a goffin mom I’m crying my eyes & I pray the test comes back good please lord give Him a good test
Have you ever heard anymore updates on this guy? Did she ever get him retested?
I'm sure she did, but I'd love an update on him as well 😌
@@jenniferallen7259 I asked her in a more recent video. She said he was negative and very healthy!
@@kaitie4831 Thank you so much! Thank goodness, what wonderful news!!
I would get him retested.
I 100% agree!
I would have to agree. This does not make sense. I think this is a false positive or a mix up.
They doing just that
You are a truly talented person and I wish you well throughout your life
please do an update when you can. bless both your kind hearts
My prayer to liberty hoping for the best. She is in good hands.
Hes adorable! I love seeing him playing in the mirror. I will take him in. I have a cat and dog. If thats ok for him to be around them.
So how did it turn out with Liberty/Oscar?
ANGEL FRANK sent me here after i rescued some Cockatiels :)
Sorry for the sad update on your birdy! :(
So sorry about the poor bird. Maybe things will get better he came up negative.
pretty sad that once she found out the test was false positive like most PBFD tests do ALWAYS TEST AT LEAST 3 TIMES and with a different lab! These tests are NOT highly accurate false positive rate is extremely high!!! Im so thankful to GOD that this birds tests were false and he is a happy healthy rescue again.
Share some updates of him please.
I didn’t realize it was contagious, that’s so scary. Poor baby bird.
Oh poor baby. Would keeping him in a large aviary outside lessen infection & transmission risks?
PFBD rarely affects birds over 3 years old. I think Liberty will be fine.
Guess no one is monitoring this site. I am also wondering how he is doing?
I know I speak for everyone when I say I really would love to know how he is doing! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
If I may ask...how is liberty now? What happened? 😭
All 3 subsequent tests came back negative
Love the name. I'm so sad hearing that
I'm so sorry to hear this news.
If I didn’t have 2 cockatoo’s I would love to have him is there any news about Liberty we would all like an update
Have you had yours tested for PBFD? If not, there's every chance yours have it too, a LOT do!
@@mehere8038 yes my vet checked my bird for it and it was negative
Like of Brasil 🐦
This is so hard- someone who loves birds but doesn't have any needs to keep this bird.
Victoria
PLEASE we need an update I beg
Is there an update for this bird?
I want another one to help
Any update on liberty?
Wow, that is deviating. You wouldn't know it to look at him. I was thinking , if anything, he would have liver disease because of his poor diet. PBFD wasn't even on my radar. I am so sorry for him and you too. This is so sad.
It’s been 6 months.... is he okay?
Well, it's 6 months. Has he been tested yet?
i’m so very sorry
Why are there no updates on this channel?
I'm so SAd for that bird 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I am so sorry. This is so sad!
People can be so cruel, then people with a heart steps in to give these poor birds a good life.
Please give us an update,PLEASE!
I wish it was against the law to have any birds as so called pets!
Birds are given wings to fly,not live 30+ years in a cage, not even one day in a cage,it's jail!
no update on him since then? what happened?
😢😢😢😢😢❤️❤️🙏
This is heartbreaking
Heartbreaking 😭😭😭 does anyone know if he passed? :(
What has happened to Oscar/Liberty?
Can we adopt him?
What happened to him?
Channel died unfortunately :(
@@TheseBygones I am so sorry, but who is Channel? I this was about a bird who was renamed Liberty after being rescued from 30 years behind bars.
I wish I could but the wife says noooooo
