Cockatoo Rescued Tests Positive for Deadly Disease
Cockatoo Liberty and Victoria Huffman from Animal Alliance of San Diego have a journey ahead of them. Beak and Feather Disease in a parrot is a serious bird disease. Thankfully Victoria is committed to her Rescued Cockatoo Liberty and is ready to go to battle for him. Liberty spent most of his life in a tiny cage padlocked and not handled for 30 years. This is a story that happens way too often to these beautiful cockatoos in captivity. Victoria's dream is for Cockatoo Liberty to live many happy years stretching his wings and enjoy life being a silly cockatoo. Sadly he tested positive for PBFD. We are hoping for a miracle now when he goes in for the second test. Please keep Liberty, Victo...

Cockatoo Padlocked and Not Handled for 30 Years | RESCUED!!
Просмотров 147 тыс.3 года назад
Cockatoo padlocked and not handled for 30 years is something that happens often. Parrots are wild animals, and especially Moluccan Cockatoos can become dangerous if not in experienced hands. Only through the death of an owner is when many Parrots finally gain their freedom. Cockatoos are one of the most neglected and abused birds on the planet because it is almost impossible to keep a cockatoo ...
Sick African Grey Parrot Needs Our Help!
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.3 года назад
A sick African Grey Parrot still needs HELP from the Bird Community. African Grey Sibiya's mom reached out to me a few weeks ago asking for help to save her African Grey, who was dying of cancer, but we didn't know she was cancer until her first avian vet appointment. I reach out to the Bird Community on Facebook, and good things started to happen. So many incredible people in this world! Sibiy...
Bird Community Raised Money to Help Rescued Cockatoos in Need | The Chloe Sanctuary

💚The bird community raised money to help the Chloe Sanctuary for Parrots and Cockatoos. Parrot Sanctuaries and Parrot Rescue are being financially impacted due to the deadly virus that has affected the world. Donations are down 80% for many Parrot Rescues and Bird Sanctuaries. The Chloe Sanctuary has dramatically been impacted by little funding coming in. Many of the birds at the Sanctuary are ...
This is so so sad 😢. My parrots have there cage doors open all day long every day!!!!!!!
I love you guys and what you do. I am mostly joking, but that is a lot of bare skin when going into deal with a cockatoo that’s been denied socialization for so long. I commend that degree of bravery. In fact, I still have cockatoo scars. Zero regrets but still. 😅🤗❤️👍
This was saddest story I ever heard
Love all animals, I worked with and for Blair county wildlife center. I would live to be able to take some birds in. So much beauty with them. I have a little girl gcc now. Thank you all for giving love. All life forms matter,ALL!!! BLESSED BE...
Before you think of getting a pet make sure you do research and make the commitment long term they aren’t a object or a toy their a family member treat them accordingly 😮😢
I rescued a Timneh a couple of years ago when his owner could no longer look after him. He too had been confined for 30 years in a cage with just one toy and fed almost exclusively sunflower seeds. He'd never been touched or handled. He was terrified when I caught him to take him home. I put him on the top of his cage with perches, toys, some decent food and water, but left the door of the cage open so he could go in, but he didn't. Now he goes in and out of his cage as he wishes. He has the run of the house, but seems to prefer chilling on the top of his cage or chewing the cardboard I put around the bottom of his cage to catch the poop. He now comes over for a head scratch, takes treats nicely from my fingers without biting and talks, dances and whistles all the time. His new life has finally begun. Murderers don't get 30 years in solitary confinement, so why should a bird?
Why are there no updates on this channel?
Why are the both of you wearing Masks?? It's kind of hideous! Come on!
Less criticism of previous owners and more focus on the animal please! People do what they know . . .it's sad but at least they didn't sell him to someone who knows even less.
Run water filter in his room
Well the owner is finally gone. There's a lot of other cruel people who are keeping these birds in cages 24/7. That would drive anyone crazy. I wish that those people could experienced being locked up in a cage, indefinitely, not knowing when they will get out, if they ever get out. Maybe they will develop some sense of empathy.
Mein herz blutet 😢 danke das er jetzt in Sicherheit ist und er gerettet ist armer Schatz was für grausame Menschen es nur gibt Tierquälerei im höchsten Maße Danke das es euch gibt ❤
I hope the owner has gone to bird hell !!
It might be scary for the bird seeing everyone with masks, too.
A properly functioning government would treat such owners as the criminals they are -- and also the breeders. Birds as big as a cockatoo should not be house pets (rescues excepted).
Thank you so much for helping him ❤❤
I would love to have him. How do I adopt him. MARYANN FROM CALIFORNIA.
So sad, these birds live a long time and can even out live a human so to see him rescued after 30 years is awesome to watch.I hope he gets back the years he's lost.❤
M watching video and I am crying continuously becz this pain now I am going to today my vet make sure from test he had this pbfd virus and he cannot survive ..m totally broken ..
Said so we’ll! Humans don’t deserve the animal world
you have masks on your face... he will act accordingly.
Why do you wear the damn masks?
Its interesting how some birds dont pluck despite their poor housing and low stimulation.
جانم خوشحال شد ازقفس اومده بیرون جوووونم چراناراحتی 😢😢😢😢😊
pretty sad that once she found out the test was false positive like most PBFD tests do ALWAYS TEST AT LEAST 3 TIMES and with a different lab! These tests are NOT highly accurate false positive rate is extremely high!!! Im so thankful to GOD that this birds tests were false and he is a happy healthy rescue again.
God bless him and you for giving him a fair chance
This poor baby boy. 30 years in a small cage 💔
I watch many cockatoo videos, I would desperately love to have one, But i know i cant , So i wont , its that simple
Set free at last ❤️ smellycat23
He committed no crime ❤️ smellycat23
Poor thing in prison for all that time ❤️ smellycat23
Wow, that the bird did not self mutilate...it had to have some form of stability.
Poor Liberty! Sending healing energies. Give him the love you can as long as you can. 🙏❤️
My heart breaks for the birds and animals. How sad. ❤️🔷❤️
You guys are angels ! Thank you for doing what you do! It gives animal lovers hope
Hi is liberated now from his jail life, not attention at all, surely rarely contact with people, not love and cares... A new life started for you, sweetheart 😍❤
I want another one to help
I have one rescue bird he’s name was Gabriel. That was 2009. And I thought he’s going to died because he hasn’t behavior he’s biting him self but he was with me until 2023 this year he died I’m so sad 😭 I have no consolation I miss him so much he was May baby
Cockatoos need constant attention because they are highly intelligent. They are not like other birds These birds need yo be cuddled
The PCR test has a high possibility of false positives Re test 2 more times
My self funded parrot rescue has been exposed to PBFD as well I am in process of separating out positives from negative .I ordered a 36 ft outside aviary and found a avian vet who will help me through this. I had the sick bird in a separate part of my home and it does move once in your home. I started all 32 birds on a high hemp diet with their pellets and seed . I will not give up on any of these birds.
He wants to fly
Wans fly
good that the second test is negative. But though the PBFD can lead to premature death that is not always the case. A bird with that condition can live many years. So the drama here is totally out of order. Aside from this: it is still only a bird, an animal and considering that each year in the US 10.000+ humans are being killed "thanks" to rifle mania please see things in perspective.
It sickens me to see this. My sister has an over 20 year old African grey and he’s been in his cage his entire life. I’ve approached her many times to surrender him so he can have some kind of a normal bird life, but all she does is get angry at me and we end up in a huge fight. The bird is hers, but she claims her husband won’t let her surrender him. It’s pathetic and angers me so much and makes me so sad. What makes this even worse is that they have always had dogs and they treat their dogs like humans, only the best of everything. I just don’t get it.
My heart is with you
And sunflower seeds are the worst
I rescued a moulaccan from a pet store. He also had been cage bound. We opened his door and after a few hours, we went to bed. (There was nothing he could get into). He had been on a diet of white bread and peanuts in the shell. Next morning I came down to check on how he’d managed during the night, only to find him sitting on the arm of a captain oak chair, eating breakfast with my 7 yr old! She’s quite the bird person from day one. All birds love her!……he was so happy to be out of his cage, we never shut his door again! I had a parrot book, so I called the author…he gave me a diet for him. Mostly beans….green beans, kidney beans etc, which after starving himself for 4 days, he finally decided it wasn’t that horrible. I froze food in ice cube tray. The bird Dr told me he would die on bread and peanuts. He urned out to be a beautiful bird. Very quiet and so gentle.
This is so much abuse hard to watch. This is why is it so much abuse. Unbelievable. There is so many animals live in this kind of cruelty. I saw today that actually that Biden signed a law that it is illegal to have chettahs pumas bobcats etc held in cavity in USA.
Frankly, I'm surprised he's not plucked himself naked. You do wonderful work, parrots are sadly the pets that get so easily into these situations.
