Wow. Thanks so much for posting this. I had gotten an X-wing light to work by just shining up all the battery contacts with sandpaper, but sound/motor wasn't working. Using your suggestion of sewing machine oil, I got it working in just minutes. Too cool!
Yeah, what a smart way to get rid of ones garbage 😆! Otherwise excellent restoration, and these kenner motors are pretty durable and usually only need some twists to start again (same with the Kenner AT ATs chin gun motor). Impressed by the decals 👍
@@jennercustomtoys Quick question: I got a box of three X-Wings the other day. Two had broken wings that I fixed using this method. With the third, the wings are still intact but bent into an "S" shape. Do you have any advice on how to get them straight? I was thinking of making a jig where I could secure them, then low-heat them with a hairdryer to get them to reform. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the video. Lots of great tips. My motor works now! Any tips on keeping the wings locked open? Nothing is broken they just won't stay locked.
Thanks for this. I'm having the opposite problem as you did. My motor works (oiled it and it works even better) but the LED doesn't light. Looks like the leads are corroded. Any advice for replacing those connections/LED and, potentially, the resistor on the green side? Also, though identical in parts, my x-wing is much more gray. Later model? Doesn't look merely like age, but who knows.
Thank you for the video. I repaired the wing as you described. The Artoo piece seems to actuate well, but it doesn't seem to lock in, though I can actuate the switch to close them. It seems that the switch isn't moving far enough forward to keep the Artoo switch down when in place. Any tips for troubleshooting that?

Glad it helped
thanx for the motor tip. I kept turning it for about 2 minutes. Easily turned it a couple hundred times. Out of nowhere, it started up!!!!
Yep, it just takes patience. I'm glad I could help.
Good video and nice dog 👍😎
Thats packaging was the craziest thing ive ever seen 😂😂😂
Believe it or not, I've seen worse. Lol

Most likely the blue clip under the r2d2 head aren't fitting right. I hope that helps.
🍻
Great video! Who sells extra canopies? My X-Wing is missing its canopy.
I sell custom canopies on my eBay page. They aren't exactly the same but they look good.

Try reversing the batteries. That was a common problem with those. You can find replacement bulbs on eBay or Amazon. I hope that helps.
Also, if you're is grey, it may be the battle damaged version. Same mechanism though.

Try to put a rubber band around the switch and around the base of r2.
@@jennercustomtoys Thank you. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I’ve gotten a few empty war bottles in packages I’ve gotten. Is it some kind of fad ?
I've got a ROTJ damaged x wing and tie fighter NIB. Value????
okay, the motor popped right off, but there is no light.
Try reversing the batteries. If that doesn't work you have a bad bulb.
@@jennercustomtoys Thanks for the reply, yup, after a lot of playing I got it to work.. oh, and thanks for the great info videos...
