    Great video - I'm about to start mine and i've purchased from ebay some missing parts. One question though....my dad and I painted the falcoln (exterior) back when I was a kid. Whats your advise for getting the paint off, so I can take it back to its original form? Any tips?

    • @geeklunchmeet
      @geeklunchmeet  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching😃 I would say don't buy the sort of paint remover you get in DIY stores. I did that and while it gets the paint off it also ruins the plastic. I recently bought some paint remover from AK which is designed to strip model kits. You brush it on, leave it a few minutes and then use an old toothbrush to scrub it off. It worked really well and was pretty cheap on ebay. Good luck with your project👍

    Awesome Video! Just curious do you think if the bag has written on it like the word Zip lock will affect the process with the peroxide cream? How long did you leave the Falcon out in the garden/sun and how long in the bag? Thank you,
    this is my first refurbish so a little nervous

    • @geeklunchmeet
      @geeklunchmeet  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. Some writing on the bag shouldn't make any difference as long as the majority of the bag is see through. I left that Falcon in the sun for about 8 hours but that was a particularly sunny day. It will depend on the weather and also how yellowed the plastic is. But leaving it out for days won't hurt it, you'll just need to be patient and wait until you're happy with the results. Good luck 😃

    Hey, great video and I'm about to begin with mine. Do you also treat the interior of the Falcon, or just the exterior?

    • @geeklunchmeet
      @geeklunchmeet  Год назад

      Thank you for watching. I did treat a little bit of the interior, mostly around where the smuggling compartment is. Most of the yellowing was on the outside. Good luck with yours😀

      Hi there again. I am restoring the smaller snowspeeder. How long do you leave the bags in direct sunlight? Did you both sides, where you had to flip the bag over and expose the other side as well? I know you sat in the video ‘the longer the better’ but what do you feel is the minimum amount of time? Thank you! Loving these super helpful videos!!

    • @geeklunchmeet
      @geeklunchmeet  Год назад

      @@matthewcollinsmc thank you for your kind words. I did do both sides and did flip the bags over. I find it best to keep checking. On a really sunny day it only takes an hour or two. It also depends how yellowed the plastic is. I'd leave it a few hours and then check. I've never left anything out for more than a day. Good luck.😀

      @@geeklunchmeet hi there, me again with just one more question. I completed the restore process on my old Hoth Snowspeeder and it looks totally amazing. Thank you so much for all your help and great videos. Have you ever had a pesky clear canopy that you just couldn’t get all the yellow out of? I’ve processed the clear pieces twice for a total of 6 hours in the sun. They are much much better, but still quite yellow. Am I just stuck with it or is there some additional or different process I can use that you are aware of that would get a better result? Again, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help. Thank you.

      @@matthewcollinsmc fantastic, glad to hear the videos have been of use. Unfortunately I've found with clear plastics that they never really get completely clear again. I know some people polish them out with floor polish to clear scratches. I'm not sure if that would help with the discolouration. Maybe worth a shot🙂

    Hey, great video! I wanted to ask...I've seen some people get blotchy results using the peroxide cream, but your application turned out perfectly. Any tips or suggestions on making sure that I can replicate your outcome?

    • @geeklunchmeet
      @geeklunchmeet  2 года назад +3

      Thanks for watching. I think it's more about having an airtight seal on whatever you are putting it in. I didn't really pay much attention to making sure everything was covered. It was only a light coat at best. I think it's more to do with the gas that is given off and builds up. I've done figures using the peroxide solution that weren't even fully submerged in the liquid and it still worked. Hope that helps. Don't forget to subscribe 😉
