Thanks for the video. I'm just now getting into restoring vintage Kenner SW toys and I appreciate learning new stuff and techniques.

Thanks for showing this. It’s very exciting to know methods for repair. I remember the very long stretch of years where there was just no way to buy another one if it broke. Just hoping Mom didn’t make us throw it away, and try to keep the parts together for such a time, it was possible to fix.

    Suggestion from a fellow Kenner X-Wing lover/restorer:
Instead of (possibly) cutting up an old X-wing wing for its plastic, consider getting a 3D printer and some white filament. I've done the exact same method you are doing to fix several X-Wings, but I can print an exact (within 0.02mm) shape to reinforce any section of the hinge that is damaged/missing.
In fact, if you're more interested in getting the toy into the hands of a kid (and not some collector who will balk at 3D-printed parts) you can print entire wing sections to replace the whole assembly.

You're not wrong. However, my videos are designed to show people the most affordable methods to fix or restore things that are broken in the first place. While your idea for a 3d printer is sound, most people don't want to spend the money for one. Also the filament is very expensive. In this video I actually used a puddle of resin to make the support piece I needed. But again, most people don't have that stuff lying around. One thing I forgot to mention in this video is that I have also used old CD/DVD cases for the pieces I've needed. Thanks for your input though.

@@jennercustomtoys I hear you. It feels like there is a budget-friendly solution that might be a middle-ground between your method and mine. I'll have to do some research. There are a lot of X-Wings out there that need to be saved. HAHA.

Thank u so much for the hope and ease of anxiety this video gave me brah! I have a 2002 saga big x wing I bought on ebay for cheap like 50 or 60 bucks it came with a snapped wing which i wasnt aware of. I could raise hell with the seller or just fix it with glue and styrene strips lol

I've got two xwings that I'm restoring. One the foils are slightly bent. Could I heat them to straiten them?

I would soak it in boiling water, reshape it in my hands, then blast it with ice cold water until it goes back into shape. It may take a few trys but they should straighten out.

@@jennercustomtoys i bought a heat gun and gradually put it back into shape. Cooled it with cold water and now its fine. I was wondering if you knew where I could get the canopy and the lazer cannons. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the idea.

Have you tried the backing soda and super glue trick to repair the wings? Tape the wings together on one side, use thin superglue and baking soda on the other. Also vitamin C removes rust instantly. Just crush up some vitamin C tablets, dissolve them in hot water and pour it on the rust spots from the spring.

I think it's sad that so many people feel obliged to give justification for their actions in fixing these old toys. In my mind it should be the people who obsess over toys like they are valuable antiques who should be justifying their actions, not normal people who enjoy their toys.
