“GREAT” video !!! For me, photography is to demonstrate all the aspect of life and each photos express a “VISION”. But you Peter, I love your perpective of the art of photography !!! THANKS !!!
I am born and live in Skagen, and I am a photografer to, and I think that I am living in the most beautiful place in the world. I know all the motivs shown in this film.
As a painter I so appreciate your vision and the beauty of the light you always manage to capture! Looking forward to the next episode and more discovery of my Danish heritage. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Mads, for the tour of your scenic country & your artwork. I’ll never get to your part of the planet, so your videos make up for it. We are fortunate to have a princess in your land.
you are now my favourite photographer of all time. I absolutely love your photos and how well you create them. big thank you all the way from the UK :)
I absolutely appreciate your honesty concerning the work you do. I am not saying it accurately, but it is that you state clearly what your position is when it comes to creating the photographs you present to the public. Disclosure maybe? Anyway, I for one, like it. Thank you.
Very much enjoyed the mix and combination of photography and art in this episode .... Time to revisit Denmark! Looking forward to the next episodes ...
I'm loving this series already! Last year I drove up into northern Norway from the UK, to spend four months there, but due to time constraints, I spent very little time in Denmark. I'm already planning another road trip and Denmark will be on the itinerary, with the intention of spending plenty of time there. Looking forward to the rest of this series with great anticipation. Many thanks for creating this.
This is really fantastic to me. Your attention to the meaningful presentation (what you are thinking in your head), augmented by technical information, is more the way I think about this stuff. One can go to 1 of a million photography->to->art websites and get a whole lot of technical ways to shoot with your camera. But I've been looking for someone that shows the way they think about the colors and angles as well. I just discovered your site so let me dig a little deeper. So far - thank you. Very good.
You are a truly ambassador not only of fine art landscape photography but also of your country. Looking forward to watch all the other epic episodes to know more about Denmark through your eyes! And making me to cross the bridge more often than I do. Thanks Mads!!! :)
You caught me doubting your ability to do much with those red roofs. Boy was I wrong! Loved the images especially in the context of the styles revealed in several of the paintings you featured. Look forward to this video series.
Coming from article in fstoppers. Referring to your comparison of painting and photography... I must ask you, what is your vision while making a photograph with lighthouse, surrounded by birds, glowing like moon in sky? When comparing it to the painting, where painter depicts relationship between those people. Its a great goal, wheather you are photographing or painting. And no, you don't need photoshop to achieve your goal. Just a candid shot at right moment will do a much better job. The moment you need photoshop to realise your vision, in most cases you no longer have a vision. Its good to use it for overcoming camera limitations. Ultimately, if you are a pro, do whatever your clients want. If you are a hobbiest, do whatever YOU want.
If I was to get the same glow from the lighthouse, the same amount of ambient light, and sharp flying birds I'd have to photograph at a much higher ISO and still lift the shadows, which could create other kinds of unwanted editing artifacts and noise. If you can't see why I made the choices I did, maybe you're the one limiting yourself? But please enlighten me. How would you take a photo during the late blue hour, at a long focal length, getting everything in focus and still have a fast shutter speed for the birds? I am very curious to know how. Photoshop is such a great tool, no matter if you want to create something "realistic" or more artsy. It doesn't really matter. Photoshop is just a tool, like Lightroom, or any other editing software. I wanted to photograph the lighthouse and make a version I found aesthetic. On location, I went around to find a composition that I found aesthetically pleasing. With or without birds I still like this composition. The birds added an element of interest, which the area is known for (migrating birds). The point for me is to make something aesthetically pleasing, yet also representative for that lighthouse and area. It can be done in many different ways, I did it in my way.
@@MadsPeterIversen as I said, overcoming camera limitations is best use of photoshop. I was not there with you, but if migratory birds are of interest, I would've walked closer, used a wide lens in good light. Totally different photograph, I know. Shot with no photoshop in mind. Doesn't makes it a worse photograph if you put time and effort. One thing I don't particularly like is tendency to jam in points of interest, as many as possible. But this is necessary if you are trying to sell photos. I do it as a hobby so have freedom of no manupilated, ok looking shots.
Wow!!!!! I’m going to watch that again and maybe again. Incredible images of a beautiful land!!! You are gifted with a great eye and you live in paradise!!!!!
Lovely video, Mads. Of course the photography is great, and since you have turned your focus to your home country of Denmark, it seems like there is so much more to photograph than you originally thought (right?). I especially liked the tour of the museum with the beautiful paintings by the sea - with the women strolling on the beach and the fishermen working hard to make a living. Very nice. Thanks again.
Hi Mads! I decided to watch these as a series so I am only just now catching up. I love the fact that you have included the art as a depiction of the vision of light in your country. This is very important and informs your vision when making your art as well. Denmark, Sweden and Norway are beautiful countries with so much to offer the creative mind. I think the birds added so much to the already wonderful lighthouse composition. I would love to see those roofs and homes set against the cold, snowy winter lighting as well (hint-hint).
I was in Denmark at this time last year. When I read about the light in Skagen I just had to make a side trip. This town is a photographers dream. As an added bonus you can easily ride a bike to all of the places to shoot.
I've been watching your videos and following your work for quite a while and I always see ART in everything you do. I'm often mesmerized by your videos and very especially your photos and feel like not blinking so I don't miss anything. Thanks to my wife who showed me one of your videos when we were planning our trip to Scotland. Your style is what is inspiring me to pursue my own style when I finally don't suck amymore, haha. Hopefully I will succeed and maybe will show you one of my own favourite photos and not be ashamed. Btw, your country is amazing. Thank you.
I will head to Denmark from 20/09 to 30/09 and plan to stay at different places all around the country in that period of time. I love photography and I can't wait to see by myself. I will enjoy watching your movies, starting from ep1 😉
This is an epic first episode Mads. I especially like the non-photography information you've given, which really adds to the content. Although Denmark is one of the nearest countries to me and there is a cultural association as a result of growing up in an English town founded by Danish Vikings, Denmark is one of the European countries I know the least about. Looking forward to more in this series!
Mads, this is a really great series! I grew up with many stories of Denmark as my Grandfather was born in Copenhagen. I visited when I was 16 (1968). Lately, with the way things are in the US, I’ve thought about moving there. Thank you!
Great video Mads. I look forward to the next episodes from our home country. One small hair in the soup though. You places Skagensmalerne 100 years to early. They were active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries (about 1870-1910).
I am no landscape photographer but your clear enthusiasm and love for the subject is infectious and a joy to watch. That and a beautiful country as subject matter. Once this Covid mess is over I may just come and visit. Great vlog. I look forwards to the next.
Mads, you are indeed an artist! You create amazing images of all the things I love ... Iceland, The Faroe Islands, Denmark and even lighthouses and windmills. Though I cannot create like you, I very much appreciate what you create. I bet you could create amazing photos of St. Petersburg and Russia. Well, thank you for following your passion and bringing joy to my life. ... oh, and I too love the Skagen artists!!!!
Your insight into art was brilliant. As photographers we can only produce what is a little bit too real rather than an expression of the soul. That might be one of my frustrations as a photographer. How to `interpret' using photography. Beautiful video, Mads. Thank you for showing off your glorious country to us Antipodeans down under in Australia.
Nice pictures. Wish this series came out somewhat earlier :p I liked Skagen as well, but only been there for half a day. My mavic mini surely struggled with the wind around the north coast. At that day it wasnt even possible. Looking forward to the rest of the series :)
Inspiring and informative video. My experience of Denmark is several trips to Copenhagen and train travel to Malmo Sweden. You have given me the bug to see more. Thanks for all!
Nice, have been to Danmark only once and brief (Kopenhagen), but we will surely come by once we are allowed again. What I really like about your recent vlogs is that I can find similar landscapes here in the Netherlands (a bit more flat probably). Way more useful than tips from some mountainous scene on the other side of the world. Good and applicable inspiration therefore. Thanx!
I visit Denmark each year (mainly for kitesurfing), but I also try to photograph there. Each year I struggle to find compositions and am thinking that there is no great picture to take. You showing what great opportunities there are is really inspiring. This will hopefully make me look deeper for compositions in the future instead of quickly deciding that there are none and that Denmark is just not that great for pictures. By the way I do that in a lot of your videos. Its like a game for me. When you are showing the video footage I try to think about what I would photograph and what my composition would be and sometimes I think that there is noting great to take a picture of. It is again really inspiriring then if you found one that I have missed :)
So excited for this series. My mum's family is from Denmark so I'm very much looking forward to this.... Plus I really won't to come there myself.... Thank you
Beautiful start to this set of videos. I hope on your travels to see on of the most famous hockey player’s and son of Denmark, Frederik Anderson of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
So THAT'S how Skagen is pronounced (I have a watch made by the company with the same name as the town and I've been mispronouncing it for years). I enjoyed your video. Those beaches remind me of the beaches along the East coast of Scotland, close to where I live.
Mads that was just Awesome mate, love the look around the museum, and have to agree that painting with the two ladies is fab. So all in all a Smashing vid, looking forward to the next. I just can't wait.
Denmark is beautiful! I visited Skagen as a kid and came back two years ago and this year again. Visiting the "Tilsandede Kirke", riding "Sandormen" and visiting Skagen itself as in my childhood. And as I think so far we'll be back next year in Denmark. Hadn't enough pulser and softie this year :-)
Great Video, Mads. I have enjoyed your Iceland series, as it enabled me to plan my trip there in 2019. Now the same music to introduce Denmark is fitting. Since travel is restricted for all of us, it is refreshing to see how you approach finding interesting places to photograph close to home. I also enjoyed the little bit of Danish history you included. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Ps, the Lighthouse photo was superb as others have noted
Awesome episode Mads. Wonderful compositions throughout too. Quality work and love how your vlogs are always so different from the standard fayre of photographic RUclipsrs. This ahould be a TV series! 👌💪👍

Like the words of the famous Japanese photographer Miyako Ishiuchi: “photographs are not a record but a created reality”. Love your video
Summer Evening is one of my favorite paintings, magical.
“GREAT” video !!! For me, photography is to demonstrate all the aspect of life and each photos express a “VISION”. But you Peter, I love your perpective of the art of photography !!! THANKS !!!
I appreciate the discussion of incorporating the auto mode shots of the birds flying by the lighthouse.
Thank you!
I'm looking forward to this new series!
Your enthusiasm always brings a smile on my face. Thank you for making my day!
I love Skagen and Grenen Spit - my favourite dynamic landscape. Thanks for reminding me of a memorable trip
I feel quite ignorant, what an interesting, beautiful country. I'm looking forward to watching the rest.
Love your enthusiasm for your homeland
That beach painting is wonderful... Thank you for this video
Very beautiful, thank you. Looking forward to your next episode.
How wonderful to see your country Mads! Looking forward to more videos. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Mads, for the tour of your scenic country & your artwork. I’ll never get to your part of the planet, so your videos make up for it. We are fortunate to have a princess in your land.
Epic landscapes, a lot of information, phantastic photos! Thanks, Mads!
Wonderful start the series and I really enjoyed learning a bit about Danish artists. Looking forward to the rest of this series!
you are now my favourite photographer of all time. I absolutely love your photos and how well you create them. big thank you all the way from the UK :)
Wow, thank you so much, Charlie! Those are big words and I really appreciate them 🙏
Beautiful and serene ! Your take on landscape photography is amazing !
Ooooo my God!!! Is amazing! I'm sooo happy I'm moving soon from Swiss to Denmark!❤
As a Danish American I’m looking forward to the series. Very inspirational!
I absolutely appreciate your honesty concerning the work you do. I am not saying it accurately, but it is that you state clearly what your position is when it comes to creating the photographs you present to the public. Disclosure maybe? Anyway, I for one, like it. Thank you.
Showing us your beautiful country is an awesome idea, Mads. And I appreciate you also talk about culture, not only landscape photo. Tak!
What a beautiful country. Denmark should use your pictures for travel photos to show what Denmark has to offer for travelers
Very much enjoyed the mix and combination of photography and art in this episode .... Time to revisit Denmark! Looking forward to the next episodes ...
Beautiful video. Love theses yellow houses. Thank you for the tips .
I LOVE popcorn as well as your passion for your country and photography!!💜 🇩🇰
I have a small collection of Skagen watches...beautiful slim designs
I don't know how I missed this video, but it is just great! Thank you.
What an excellent presentation of rich history. Bravo.
I'm loving this series already! Last year I drove up into northern Norway from the UK, to spend four months there, but due to time constraints, I spent very little time in Denmark. You are a truly ambassador not only of fine art landscape photography but also of your country. Looking forward to watch all the other epic episodes to know more about Denmark through your eyes! And making me to cross the bridge more often than I do. Thanks Mads!!! :)
What a lovely place. Love the paintings, so well done.
Beautiful, you make me want to visit, you are a great ambassador for Denmark.
What a treat to see the beauty of your country! Looking forward to the rest of this series.
You caught me doubting your ability to do much with those red roofs. Boy was I wrong! Loved the images especially in the context of the styles revealed in several of the paintings you featured. Look forward to this video series.
So beautiful, Mads. But 'Gammel Skagen' doesn't look very old. The houses and roofs look so pretty and clean.

Loved the video Mads! Love the format sort of a travelogue for photographers. Really enjoyed it.

Wonderful introduction to Denmark!
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing
that was brilliant Mads, loved the presentation and the history was very interesting, loved the images and look forward to the rest of the episodes
I was in Denmark at this time last year. When I read about the light in Skagen I just had to make a side trip. This town is a photographers dream. As an added bonus you can easily ride a bike to all of the places to shoot.
Hehe that is very true. Plenty of locations close by :)
Can't say that I know much about Denmark, so I look forward to future episodes. Rock on!
I will for sure ;)

Hello Mads from the U.S. Loved the image of the lighthouse with the c-curve. I look forward to the next video of your beautiful country of Denmark.
Absolutely brilliant video. Looking forward to the whole series. We now want to live in Skagen!
Great work, Mads. Really looking forward to the rest of the series. COVID has kept me at home, but I'm excited to "visit" Denmark.
Great Video, Mads. I have enjoyed your Iceland series, as it enabled me to plan my trip there in 2019. Now the same music to introduce Denmark is fitting. Love the first shot with the lighthouse and seagulls. try to convert it to B&W?
Awesome episode Mads. Wonderful compositions throughout too. Quality work and love how your vlogs are always so different from the standard fayre of photographic RUclipsrs. This ahould be a TV series! 👌💪👍
