I was in nursing school and have reached a breaking point several times due to how difficult it was. Everytime I got to that point I would come to this video as a way of mentoring myself to do better. I was always afraid of failing a class, about what other would think of me for failing a class, about losing some time or opportunities in my life. But what this video displays is that it's normal to be afraid of those things. But ultimately what matters more than anything else is that regardless of the outcome whether you fail or pass, you put your heart into the effort. That you tried your absolute best and if it doesnt go your way, you were able to face your fear of failure. That is COURAGE. I have now graduated nursing school in 5 semesters and passed the NCLEX on the very first try. I am awaiting a commission into the U.S. Air Force as an RN. You do not need to be a boxer or an athlete to be motivated by something like this because this can apply to anything in life.

You are exactly right.. The boxing in Rocky is just a metaphor. The true message of it is the underdog overcoming the odds stacked against him. The "man in the arena," if you will. And Rocky has gotten countless people through difficult and challenging times too. It really is a beautiful thing. Best of luck with your classes and on your career! And remember, just keep punching!

I love Adrian. She cuts right to the heart. When a man has the right woman by his side, who believes in him, he’s unstoppable.
What a talent Talia was. Same as Weathers. Their scenes were so authentic and so passionate it was as if they were talking directly to Stallone the person and audience. Not to just some character.

Nope never gets old. I’ve had it memorized for as long as I can remember. This scene and the scene with Mick, “You got civilized”, are what made Rocky 3 so special. A real character study.
This is my all-time favorite Rocky and Adrian moment.
Shows that even champions can wake up feeling like losers , a lesson to learn in life that even at the the highest levels this happens
I always imagined that Paulie, Apollo, and Duke were standing far away watching this and Paulie saying "If anybody can get through to Rocky, it's Adrian. She'll get him back." And she did.
Talia Shire is a good Actress she should’ve had more roles like this after Rocky V - Great Actress.

Awesome.....when an interviewer asked Holyfield why he wasn't afraid of Tyson after beating him he replied that if you let fear consume you then you can't implement your strategy onto the opponent....and this is exactly how Rocky fought Clubber in the second fight...without fear.

Isn’t it ironic that in the beginning, Adrian was the one lacking self-confidence while Rocky was the more confident one, and then by the third movie their situations get reversed?
It’s amazing how circumstances can change people compared to how they’re perceived at first impressions.
Rocky had ZERO self confidence in the first film. That's why he never tried hard at being a boxer which is why Mickey treated him like dirt. Dating Adirian helped Rocky gain his confidence and he helped her gain her confidence which is how she was able to stand up to Paulie in the first film. Honestly this scene is more autobiographical meaning that it refers to Stallone's personal life at the time and kind of a meta commentary on his involvement with Rocky 3 rather than a commentary on the Rocky character himself.
This is why most critics criticize the post Rocky 1 films. The original Rocky Balboa wasn't looking to be an actual boxer and he knew that realistically he had no shot at his age. He was looking for respect and validation ("I'll know for the first time in my life...that I wasn't just another bum from the neighborhood"). The Rocky Balboa at the end of the first film never reaches this moment because he doesn't accept the rematch if offered in a second film. Instead he takes his new self confidence to learn how to be a legit worker in society rather than a debt collector for a loan shark.

And while it’s true that all what Rocky wanted originally was just to prove he wasn’t just “another bum in the neighborhood”, I like to think that him accepting the rematch was a way of him realizing (and teaching a real life lesson) that just you succeed in something, it doesn’t mean it’s ever over.
If you want to feel more secure in life, take an opportunity when it’s presented to you so you can achieve some better.
In other words, don’t let yourself get too comfortable just with what you have, if you want to remain stable.
When he says I'm afraid the wave crashes in the background, so naturally they had to put it in 💯

To anyone achieving their goals..she is such a a good actress and underrated cause the speech she gives hits your heart so hard it akmoymakes you tear up cause everything she said is true..I was younger when I saw this movie soni really didn't think anything of it till now..she is such a great actress..I hate to say this Stallone was origiod too he's actually better than most action hero stars even if I think he's got cocky after all these years..

"You wake up after a few years thinking you're a winner, but you're not. You're really a loser." My favorite line!
His reasoning was actually well delivered and severely underrated IMO. Losing that fight was more than just losing Mickey. Losing that fight meant that Clubber was right, that Rocky was fighting bums and that Mickey was ducking the serious contenders to protect Rocky's health. Rocky loses his confidence because being from the streets he should've realized what was going on and that everybody else was in on it, but him(Adrian kind of admits here that she knew Mickey was ducking the legit contenders). He feels like a liar because of everything he did as if he was a legit champion. Boxing always has things like this so it's hard to say if his feelings are warranted, but the point here is that ROCKY feels this way.
Stallone should get more credit for writing such a multi layered outburst by Rocky.
Adrian is the real backbone to the Franchise. She got tough by being married and living with a fighter!!!

As an almost 40 year old man and a new father this scene hits hard. I wasn’t ready to become a Dad and I was on a foggy cloud for the first few years, it took my beautiful wife to remind who I was and sometimes you need to cater to yourself during the hardest times even though your heart wants to help the ones you love the most. It’s not wrong to have an ego, just point it in the right direction. 👊

One of the best I can say . I like the scene where Rocky tells Micky he doesn't need him as trainer and Micky walks out the door and Rocky goes back to him.
The best scene in the series is when Rocky tells Adrian that his goal is to go to the distance with Creed and why he wants to do it.

I don’t know how this movie didn’t get an Oscar
You gotta love how Adrian grew a spine thanks to Rocky. In the first movie, she was starting to show off her stuff by standing up to Paulie. In the second movie, she realized that she stands by her man because she knows that this life is fighting and she needed to fight as well. Here, she became the anchor that he needed to get his head back on straight.
As the saying goes: behind every strong man, there’s a stronger woman. God bless the ladies like Adrian for making that phrase a reality

I honestly get the same feeling he feels each time i see this scene to the point that it kinda makes me wanna cry cause im able to relate really well to the character. It's always these 3 lines that always get me and what makes me understand his feelings 'why does everything so good have to get so bad' 'you wake up after few years thinking you're a winner but your not' 'he shouldn't have carried me and lied to me.'

"NOTHING is real if you don't believe in who you are!" Still an immensly powerful statement that cuts to our deepest fear: All the oppertuinity and encouragement in the world won't mean a thing if our low self-worth and lack of self-esteem continues to haunt us to the point of self-sabotage.

That line brought me back. Because there's this course I'm on, I genuinely, so dearly, wanted to quite, just so all the stress and the nitpicking would just STOP.
But my mom talked me out of it. And I asked, "What if I fail anyway?" and she said something along the lines of what Adrian did. I'll fail with no excuses, no regrets. I'll have made it to the finish line. And that's enough for me.
