- ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba is on the Burning Platform today to lay down his manifesto for a “better South Africa” under his party. Things get heated when Kanthan and Phumi question him about coalition politics, and involvement from the DA. And Gareth asks how Herman plans to deal with foreigners and immigrants coming into South Africa.

Perspective is important. Does this approach work in the upcoming era of coalition agreements? "Your problem" is going to become and is already "My problem". You don´t have to make friends, but you must be able to build and maintain working relationships.
I voted for him before and I’ll vote for him again. I may be wrong but in my eyes the best thing for Gauteng wouldn’t be a DA run municipality or a ANC & EFF coalition. I would see the best case scenario as a ActionSA run Gauteng. Herman is a big believer in the rule of law and the Gauteng province is lawless at this moment.
I think Herman Mashaba is a great man. I was put off from Action SA when they back tracked in Tshwane when the kitchen got a little hot with the strikes on the increases. They went against the DA even though they had signed off on the budget. Everything seems to have died down and now that they have the deputy mayor position it might be a solid coalition. But I am impressed by Cilliers and his leadership. Exactly what Tshwane needs and I think he will sort things out

I was on the fence about action SA , so far Mr Mashaba has made the most sense that I've heard come out of a Politicians mouth. A man that has a plan and speaks with confidence.

Big respect for Mr Mashaba here. I'm a UIM supporter. Really excited about MPC. HOWEVER.. IEC is trying to close down the smaller parties and have demanded 14k original signatures from UIM by 6th March. Borderline unconstitutional! Please speak to Neil and maybe send a shout out?

Mr. Mashaba needs to learn to listen and give other people a chance to respond please, and also not dismiss or insult people when they are asking questions he's not comfortable with it. We love Action SA and we will vote for it but he must learn to listen and be able to hear other people's views.

The fires lit up as Mashaba was Mayor by ANC and DA- Phumi’s question of whether Mashaba will be able to take the heat when things light up if he was president is valid. How are the people to know that he would not give up the fight and resign.

The problem with the DA is that for 20 years, they were trying to play westminster two party politics in a system that promotes multiparty coalitions. We were _always_ going to get to this point, the DA was _never_ going to win the ANC outright, and the fact that they didnt see this coming was due to short sighted arrogance. Only after 2021 gas the DA started learning to be a team player in coalitions, and I hope they have learned what they should've learned decades ago to ensure a stable coalition after the elections.
I also like this thing of Mr Mashaba opposing using of unions because unions are weak.

Ja jong, Herman, I know of no one who dislikes the man, but I also do not know a whole lot of people. A man with principles and standards. Men like this have no equal. What I do see and it humbles me, is seeing how Mr. Mashaba have endured and yet still towers above the rest. Herman mentions the 3 of the primary things he would tackle first, what is interesting is not that he mentions draconian laws that is still in place that should be removed, I think such is the case for many like-minded parties, rather, the order of it. I completely agree, we must strengthen law enforcement. Look he clearly cares about people, not race, gender, ethnicity just people. I agree that the ANC failed, sadly, these are facts, see, in terms of how I conclude this is not solely by stats, since stats can be manipulated but the preponderance of evidence would solidify this to be the case.
Thank you, Herman Mashaba has the right point of view, it holds a promise for a future, including the youth who need to have a positive outlook on life, employment and developement!

This determination of Mr Mashaba to remove ANC is a good point because ANC is obsessed with fame at the expense of tax payers. So really there is nothing you can solve with ANC because they are selfish, corrupt, evil , etc. The thing that they may do even now is to do this coalition in local municipalities now and remove ANC now because we are tired of ANC. If they do that they will have a chance to start to remedy all the damage ANC made and still continuing to do.
So many people have clearly lost the plot completely. 😢 Whilst coalition agreements can work, they can only work when everybody puts their egos aside for the good of the country. Time and time again, many of these coalitions have been fragile and fraught with challenges. Helen Zille is probably the only politician we know of who was truly successful with handling coalitions in the City of Cape Town. She won international awards for being an exceptional mayor. Unfortunately, so many politicians have resented Helen Zille's accolades. I don't think it is a good idea to dilute a vote, even among the Multi-Party. True South African success is to rather look at this as a battle between the ANC and DA. Of course other parties will play a role, but this is really about the two biggest parties. I know many other parties and some voters will disagree with me, but it will still be the DA and ANC, who will get the larger percentages. Making the DA smaller within the Multi-Party arrangement is going to create enormous problems. If you don't believe me, then time will prove I am correct. Don't lose the plot please!
