  • Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! This one caught me off guard with the visuals and the opening. Once it got further in it made more sense but was not expecting this. I loved the flow and the sound!

This song is so well written that even a christian radio station in America played it and people called in and asked about the beautiful song they just played. This is also the song that started it all for me. I just couldn't get it out of my head and it sparkled a interest to listen to more songs. I still can cry some times when i listen to it. It is just so beautiful i get carried away. I think you should enjoy Rats next.
PS. So cool you mentioned Poison something to believe in. Love that song. DS.

I'm very anti-church and this band really speaks to that part of me. My father is a Pentecostal pastor, so this music is a kind of therapy, a medicine for me. Ghost is a very refreshing and needed kind of music today. Truly a fan!

My parents started a church in the 70's and it turned into a business and not what they intended. Too many have gone that route so I just stay away from it and keep my beliefs with myself. I know what you mean with the therapy.

@@JTMMTV That's good. Even in the Bible, Jesus was shown to be critical of organized religions. Then people created an organized religion following him.

There is this interesting thing I've noticed within the Ghost fandom where some people read the lyrics as ALWAYS being about humor and sex and that Tobias is ALWAYS joking or poking fun etc. But the guy has been interviewed MANY times about his lyrics and he's been evasive on some and specific on some. And from those interviews I gather that there is a Ghost lore message, a sort of anti-empire anti-organize mass religion thing that is definitely on the level of something like Monty Python, but then there is the human message coming out of Tobias. Now, I'm an atheist so I will not analyze this based on how I WANT him to feel, because Tobias has made it clear he is not an atheist. So, in his soul there is the life lived and it bleeds into the Ghost narrative because it just does.
And in his life there is his big brother, the person who exposed him to the music and the thinking that he would use to make this band and others. And the unfortunate side of that powerful force in his life is that just as his band was blowing up, just as Ghost, now a juggernaut, was being noticed, this massive influence and love was taken from him. And so many have found meaning in this song revolving around that.
Mary On A Cross is another song where you can find real life bleeding into the narrative, and this comes directly from Tobias without any need to interpret it. He said that song is not about what people think. It is not about the Virgin Mary. It is not about sex. It is about coming up and trying to make it in the big lights of whatever it is you're doing and either going down in history in a good way or bad way... and it's also a play on words about marijuana.
So, I think many of Ghost's songs can be interpreted as purely about the lore, the fictional narrative Tobias has built within the band. But some songs bleed from the artist instead of the character of Papa. And this is one of those songs.

Dude, no lie here and honestly and I will admit ignorance to the talent out there in this genre, but, damn if I can't tell any of them are from outside the US. I don't mean that in an arrogant way of all of them have to be, it is more of a WOW to how they have mastered the pronunciation. I dig these guys a lot. As I mention and maybe it is just the nostalgia thing for me but the way they play reminds me so much of Asia and so for me it just makes me happy listening to their music and reacting to them. I wasn't a fan of Hunter's Moon but then someone mentioned that was for the movie and once I checked out more of their stuff I loved it!

This song is so beautifully written. While the music is heart-warming, the lyrics are full of references of the Devil. Dis Pater was an underworld roman entity, and when the lyrics say "The guidence of the Morning Star" it's talking about Lucifer itself. "Morning star" is the biblical reference of the fallen angel. Good reaction video btw!!

Thanks, their songs are not always easy to pick up on, but I have also only reacted to a few of their songs so I haven't quite picked up on their writing style yet. Musically I freaking love it.

This song is about Jim Jones and the biblethumpers like him in the States!
      Dīs Pater[1]
refers to a Roman/pagan God of the underworld (hell).
Hence, Nostro Dīs Pater, means Our god of the underworld. Or “Our God of Hell” if you want.
      Nostr' alma mater [2]
means our nourishing mother. And before its current usage, referring to schools, alma mater was an honorific title for various pagan mother goddesses.
In this case I would lean more to the older use of the term, our nourishing mother hence referring to a feminine form of Satan.

      Ah. Ok.
I didn't know that. I'm from Sweden and we don't have that style of churches here.
And the most famous and probably the one who everyone here knows of from USA is sadly Jim Jones.
I know of Ted Haggard too but I'm sure most of the preachers aren't like them. We have good and bad priests and preachers here too but the bad ones are very few, as I suppose is the case in USA too.

I’m curious as to what Tobias meant by “ two star cross lovers reaching out to the beast with many names” like I know who they’re referring to at least beastwise but who are the two star cross lovers? My guess is Adam and Eve. If ghost ever does a Q&A I would like that to be answered on who those 2 are 🤔 if it ain’t Adam and Eve
Edit: with that said, this was the song that got me into ghost(as well as year zero)

Ghost has disrupted some conventions about heavy/hard rock and some people don't like having their turf uprooted(Grunge is a good example), not me I've enjoyed Ghost. Every album is different Tobias doesn't try to repeat himself to often.
