Ghost has a backstory, characters etc. It's all tounge-in-cheek and made for fun. They're supposed to be a Satanic group, the lead singer is supposed to be the anti-pope, and the band members are just known as "ghouls" who wear masks. The actual musician line-up changes, but the lead singer (who is also the writer and main dude) stays the same. His character changes over time, so for each new album he'd be a different "anti-pope" and the style of the music will change. All their songs are about Satan, a lot of them sound like Christian rock, their older stuff was more metal. It's all for fun, nothing to take too seriously :) They even have story videos on their main channel, they're pretty funny too.
I remember when this album came out, i listened to this song and said "holy shit, they just made an evangelical protestant song about satan". And some idiot on the internet tried to pick a fight with me online saying that my take was bullshit. When this video came out i felt so vindicated. It feels good to be right. This "he" person is Satan =D
After 20 years of the genre black, Satan worshipping metal from Scandinavia, this guy realised that "if you really did love Satan, it wouldn't be death-growls, it would be love ballads..." Well done them...
My wife grew up a devout Christian and this was the first ghost song I introduced her to. Now she's a bigger ghost fan than I am. Luckily got to see them live last year
Oh this is a different type of rabbit hole: Do From The Pinnacle to the Pit, Ritual, Cirice, Year Zero, Square Hammer, Faith, Life Eternal.... f%#& it! Do them all in order
I love Ghost. I feel like the band's "backstory" makes a ton of sense as a satanic cult type thing, because what's gonna get more followers? Creepy grotesqueries or some glitz 'n glamor? Clever shit right there. Good reaction as always y'all.
Following Ghost songs are killer Cirice Faith Square Hammer Dance Macabre Rats Year Zero Ritual Take your pick. They make some pretty catchy tunes. Their live shows are wild.
Eh, I don’t know about that... I think it might be “Come Crimson Death” by Jess and the Ancient Ones. There are a lot of beautiful Satanic songs out there.
Its not really about Satan. This song was written for the band friend who committed a suicide for Satan and about lead singers brother who passed away before Ghost became popular
I also see the Jim Jones aspect of the song. Seeing as he led people like that and he was worshipped and they all committed suicide because he said they needed to, and he is wearing the aviator sunglasses like Jim Jones used to always wear, plus the hairstyle is similar. To me it has a lot of different meanings not just an ode to Satan.
He says it early in the song perhaps you missed it but. The lyric is were guided by the morning star. And the "morning star" which is a reference to Lucifer the devil. A better song for you to listen to to help you to understand what we're really about, would be. Ritual, followed up by "Year Zero", I would also check out "Mummy Dust", and Ghuleh.
Welcome to my favorite band. 😁 The backstory is so epic. They are a tongue - in-cheek theatrical satanic masterpiece that will blow your mind 😛 Pleeeeease check out "Square Hammer."
Ghost has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them the lead singer Tobias Forge is a genius he writes the lyrics composes the music he does it all they are incredible live i hope to see them one day
Ghost are great. They have this whole shtic with the lead singer Tobias Forge performing and singing from the perspective of a satanic priest, pope or cardinal and play some really unique tunes. This is one of their most unusual songs, as it, as the two pointed out, parodies christian rock music, normally they go into a more heavy, but old school and synthesizer-infused direction. Quite interesting. I've been to one of their concerts and I must say, I don't think I have seen a light show greater than their's.
He didn’t paint the inside of his mouth, it’s a mask. Also, because I’m commenting halfway through the video: it’s a play in Christian worship music but about Satan.
Ghost is one of my favorite bands. I love the mythology they've built. I was raised in a religious home, but it didn't really stick. Seeing Ghost play this live, a few years ago was very close to a religious experience, though. Maybe I should be concerned. But then again, maybe not. Carry on, guys!
GHOST is hands down the one band that’s made me believe in metal being fun and creative again..🖤🖤 Check out literally anything by them! The songs about Satan, the band is a play on the Catholic Church and it’s absurdity. It’s fire man
Cirice, you deeeeeeefinitely have to give that a listen, and ABSOLUTELY give "Call me little sunshine a listen (especially the Jimmy Kimmel show performance) absolutely stunning. I listen to every genre, this stuff is amazing.
Love Ghost! They also put on a hell of a live show too! This is totally another rabbit hole to go down if you read up on the back story and lore. You mentioned Jim Jones, you should check out the song about him by SKYND.
I've heard Scooby Doo chase music, I've heard Satanic ABBA. But a mix of "Violent Jay, Shaggy 2 Dope, and Sting?" That's a new one. Not that I'm complaining, that juxtaposition is hilarious.
The lyrics to this song were written after Selim Lemouchi of the band The Devil's Blood committed suicide. That band is also definitely worth checking out, with songs like 'She', 'I'll be your ghost' and 'Christ or cocaine'.
ghost do wear mask they got alot of good song, square hammer(official video)or year zero(official video),cirice (official video) i just found this group about 2 years ago i just love them
Welcome to Ghost brothers! They are awesome and have a ton of great videos and songs (Cirice, Square Hammer, Rats, Dance Macabre). Also, check out the band Church of the Cosmic Skull - the song i recommend is Evil in Your Eye.
Great video as always. Your intro always makes me happy, keep your positive energy! Also do some Orden Ogan - In The Dawn Of The AI. You're in for a treat, trust me.
Damn I was really hoping the first Ghost song you heard was Cirice (the song that win them a Grammy) - this song always makes people think Ghost is “pretty” while Cirice is “ominous”. Oh well, this song is good too. Welcome to Ghost, dudesz
First time I ever heard these guys was live! Waiting for Deftones at a festival.. haha! I was so very confused, some substances I imbibed may have made it a little more intense than usual but.. they were epic!!!
Every Ghost song has multiple meanings, which is why it's hard to pinpoint exactly what they're talking about. Take "He Is" for example. 1. On the surface, it's about Satan, but usually there is a deeper meaning to a Ghost song. 2. It's also about one of Tobias' (the singer) friends from another band who died. 3. It also used to be called "She Is," indicating some past meaning possibly not referenced in the current lyrics. 4. It's also about Tobias' brother who died. His brother got him into "rebellious" music. 5. It's also about Christian cult leaders like Jim Jones and Tony Alamo (there is a split second photo of Alamo in the video). 6. In conjunction with point #5, it could also be about God (or rather Ghost's perception of God), especially in the Catholic church. When you sing the words, "he's the shining in the light without whom I cannot see," there's nothing wrong with that. Then when you sing, "he is insurrection, he is spite, he's the force that made me be," suddenly there's a problem. You're singing those words blindly to a cult leader or a god. While it sounds great musically, you're praising someone who is actually evil and is screwing you.
Oh, you picked a good one. Every person in your comment section familiar with this band are now clamoring for the other songs in their discography. I want to see it too, but I know you'll get there on your own. It will definitely be a fun ride.
Why do I think if I brought a rig to do some dabs with The Trash Talkers we'd have a hella time? Always love your great vibes bros. Keep on keeping on with what you're doing!
GHOST! more GHOST please. The small glitch in the video is the clue as to who Papa Emeritus 3 is referring to but you must freeze frame the still frame that was added to the video for your answer.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I'd like to suggest 'Moongate' by Samael. I doubt you'll find a fancy video for it, but the vibes might just cover for the lack visuals.
Muppet Treasure Island - Shiver My Timber, Santana - Soul Sacrifice (live at Woodstock), Jolly Rogers - Haul Away Joe, The High Kings - Rocky Road to Dublin, The High Kings - The Little Beggar Man, Siamã_s The Wolf, Twenty One Pilots - Heathens, Skycycle - It Terror Time Again, Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok, Men At Work - Down Under, Bloodbound - Plauge Doctor, Team America - America F$%k Yeah! (TF2 version), Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide, Susan Aglukark - Hina Na Ho, Bracken Wood - The Yuyu. Have fun 😁
You guys have eclectic tastes. Great to see you enjoying a variety of music. You should react to Steam Powered Giraffe, the song/video for Honeybee. I think you'd totally enjoy it.

🤣 pretty much sums it up, man. Love this band and love the way they mess with everyone. We all take ourselves too seriously.
I love it already
@@smokeyrameriz478 Oh yeah...each album has it's own feel, you'll fucking love it I'm sure.
Papa Emeritus I/II/III and most recently Cardinal Copia. All the same guy: Tobias Forge.
@@smward87 Its not Cardinal anymore. A couple of months ago he got promoted to Papa
Ghost is so dope. Y'all would definitely enjoy Square Hammer or Dance Macabre.
I was thinking the same damn thing
Best two Ghost songs. Plus Cirice
But there is their instrumental song called Miasma, and I have a suspicion those guys would really like it.
Square Hammer is a fucking banger. Every Ghost song is great though.
Should also do Rats or From the Pinnacle to the Pit
I remember when this album came out, i listened to this song and said "holy shit, they just made an evangelical protestant song about satan".
And some idiot on the internet tried to pick a fight with me online saying that my take was bullshit.

This "he" person is Satan =D
Ich Bin Ein Warher Satan
GHOST: YEAR ZERO, IS AMAZING SONG !!
Oh yes.
I want to see them hear it.
Make it happen!
yeees yeees plz
After 20 years of the genre black, Satan worshipping metal from Scandinavia, this guy realised that "if you really did love Satan, it wouldn't be death-growls, it would be love ballads..."
Well done them...
And I'm not sure if the band would agree but the best way to infuse Satan into the minds of youth? Make it big and poppy and unavoidable. Noice...
Cough...Who has the Best Entertainment? age 37 is a MFr...
My wife grew up a devout Christian and this was the first ghost song I introduced her to. Now she's a bigger ghost fan than I am. Luckily got to see them live last year
Oh this is a different type of rabbit hole:
Do From The Pinnacle to the Pit, Ritual, Cirice, Year Zero, Square Hammer, Faith, Life Eternal.... f%#& it! Do them all in order
Year Zero.. definitely something for them haha. Maybe Ghost could become a regular buzz??
Will do
Year zero LIVE with papa III 2016 Hell fest is amazing!
And Elizabeth....
I love Ghost. I feel like the band's "backstory" makes a ton of sense as a satanic cult type thing, because what's gonna get more followers? Creepy grotesqueries or some glitz 'n glamor? Clever shit right there. Good reaction as always y'all.
Following Ghost songs are killer

Nice to be recognized

Ghost takes a twisted theme, and puts a positive sound to it. My favorite thing about them! So chilling
You guys have to do Cirice and Year Zero by Ghost!
Welcome to my favorite band. 😁 The backstory is so epic. They are a tongue - in-cheek theatrical satanic masterpiece that will blow your mind 😛 Pleeeeease check out "Square Hammer."
Btw- yes the song is supposed to be a hymn to Satan. But it's not meant to be taken seriously 😜
Ghost has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them the lead singer Tobias Forge is a genius he writes the lyrics composes the music he does it all they are incredible live i hope to see them one day
Ghost is bad ass. You HAVE to watch Cirice, Faith, & Square Hammer
Ghost are great. They have this whole shtic with the lead singer Tobias Forge performing and singing from the perspective of a satanic priest, pope or cardinal and play some really unique tunes. He didn’t paint the inside of his mouth, it’s a mask. Also, because I’m commenting halfway through the video: it’s a play in Christian worship music but about Satan.
Yah they seemed to pay no attention to the Beast with many names line right in the first verse of the song.

This is one of my new favorite RUclips shows, y’all are so entertaining, I love the commentary
I love Ghost! Y’all definitely should listen to them more.
Ghost is one of my favorite bands. I love the mythology they've built. I was raised in a religious home, but it didn't really stick. Seeing Ghost play this live, a few years ago was very close to a religious experience, though. Maybe I should be concerned. But then again, maybe not.

The songs about Satan, the band is a play on the Catholic Church and it’s absurdity.

I saw Ghost play 2 years ago with Bad Wolves, STP, Sevendust and Five Finger Death Punch headlining. It was a great show.
Cirice, you deeeeeeefinitely have to give that a listen, and ABSOLUTELY give "Call me little sunshine a listen (especially the Jimmy Kimmel show performance) absolutely stunning. I listen to every genre, this stuff is amazing.
Not a Ghost fan but still supporting the channel
Fuck yea! again the picks are on point. Watch you guys everyday you're killing it!
No joke, I love the intro. How you guys admitted to bringing this to one another’s attention with a simple guessing game and then BAM video starts..
Love Ghost! They also put on a hell of a live show too! This is totally another rabbit hole to go down if you read up on the back story and lore.
You mentioned Jim Jones, you should check out the song about him by SKYND.
Their live shows are fantastic!!! More of a theatrical performance than concert. From pinnacle to the pit is a good one!
this is amaazing! but also from Ghost, try giving a listen to 'Deus in Absentia'. It's from Meliora, same album.
Welcome year zero, they won a Grammy for the song Cirice!!
Fun fact; All the church members are Ghost fans who lived in the area they filmed the video.
Ghost is awesome

From the Pinnacle to the Pit is another great Ghost song. Something about the bassline reminds me of Hip Hop but I can't put my finger on what it is.
That bassline is sick!!!
I think it's my favorite baseline from all their songs. It's just so catchy and groovy.
Great reaction as always
Welcome to Ghost brothers! They are awesome and have a ton of great videos and songs (Cirice, Square Hammer, Rats, Dance Macabre). Also, check out the band Church of the Cosmic Skull - the song i recommend is Evil in Your Eye.
