Seems to me the SKIL's truth in advertising makes them the better choice.
I love the 12v Dewalt for under the hood work, very compact, and with the 5ah battery, it will take off pretty much anything under there.great video

Just did 80 ft/lbs with this DeWalt off a lug nut... Which is the same for all my cars but really, got it for hard to reach areas like under the car or in the wheel well. Weighs less then a drill! Excited to see the new line of DeWalt Xtreme impact wrenches
Thank you, you talked me into ordering the Skil, not the break the nut but take off after loosened. I ordered the 4ah battery also to use the kit battery with the Skil 12v flood light. Also own their work light and right angle impact driver. Love it all. Breaker bar gets the first turn.

I have Dewalt 20v and Milwaukee 18v and they are both pretty good. But I also bought the Dewalt 12v 3/8 impact and its a very nice light tool to use.

the skill 2ah batteries are 30.00 at lowes the dewalt 12v batteries and all other dewalt single batteries are way overpriced 59.00 for 2ah 12v, something to consider if your going to buy bare tool.

lowes had the dewalt kit with 2 batteries, charger, bag,, 12vimpact $99.99, amazed at the power and small size to get in tight spaces. put roters on my car, pulls the lugnuts and wheel calipar bolts and calipar brackets, has enough power for most jobs, charge last long time

Loved the DeWalt so much, I bought a second one. Great for tight spots and smaller head than the M12 stubby. Not as powerful, but I needed space savings vs power.
@@granadojl yes... I agree less powerful bit personally I like it more because the way it fits in my hand and price. Lol. I bought the kid with 2 batteries for about 100 USD at Lowe's.
Instead of paying about 200 dollars for bare tool.
Now that I know the Dewalt 12 Volt is coming out with a 450 pound of torque wrench... I am more than happy to be in this platform.
@@Jarco101 heck yeah... I bought both for roughly 180 at Lowes after taxes with both batteries as well. I had no idea DeWalt is coming up with a 450 12v. Going to get more info and start buying into the line and possibly get rid of my Red cordless tools.

I was waiting too. Then I read the new Dewalt doesnt have the 3 function switch that the 902 has. So it's a basic impact. A bigger hammer.

I was sold on the M12 power but find the grip to be very uncomfortable. I tried to the DeWalt 12 volt extreme and never looked back. I will give up a little power for comfortable handling. Love the DeWalt extreme 12v.
Thing is awesome. Great for brakes and small stuff. Handled great. Not for suspension though.
Same reason I went to the DeWalt 12v in the first place. I've used other people's Milwaukees glad I tried before I bought.
Pro tip, get a 3 or 5ah battery for your 12v dewalts. They will come alive. You will be able to get more done.
That's exactly the opposite of my feeling. M12 is the most ergonomic system outside of the makita 10.8V
@@alharrison1038 Not at all. The old 10.8 and 12 volt line in Makita is pointless. Their sub compact 18 volts are smaller than the 12 volt Makita.....
@Jason Hull I was talking about ergonomics. And the only battery as small as the Makita 10.8v is the Milwaukee 12v. No one is talking about using the 10.8v as an everyday item.
The 4ah battery on the skil makes a huge difference. Ive had many bolts that wont break with the 2ah but do break lose when i put on the 4ah. I almost only use it with the 4ah now.

Same can be said for the DeWalt Xtreme 12v. 2ah is a great starter battery to get you up and running out of the box. But to unlock the full potential you will need a 3ah or 5ah. I bought two 5ah 2 packs for my DeWalt 12v Xtreme ½ in impact wrench the ⅜ like this video and the impact driver. And the 5ah makes a world of difference. I would have returned them otherwise if DeWalt hadn't made a bigger than 2ah battery.
The DeWalt will reach its fastening torque and break lose, on the 2ah battery. But there’s a caveat.
19mm or 3/4 socket Max size.
Remember how with the 33mm socket it couldn’t break 100 ft lbs? But with the 24 mm it can now do 150?
I keep yelling the same thing when I watch all these videos LOL... At first I thought I must have the only DCF902 that’s putting out it’s advertised max torque, and then I realized that most of these comparison videos are using 24mm or greater sockets... This little guy takes off passenger vehicle (and most SUV and light truck) lug nuts all day long.

@Hell's favorite Salty Masshole Yeah it’s become my first-grab impact wrench. I didn’t buy it for lug nuts, but I tried it (with a 3/8 impact socket, NOT a 1/2” adapter) and it zips them right off! That’s when I decided to sell my stubby...

I really like the USB ports on the battery and charger of the Skill. By this day in age, all manufacturers of battery powered tools should have this feature, and it's inexcusable that most don't (looking at you Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Makita).
As for these tools in particular, I feel like they occupy an odd space in the market. If you want small and compact, there are 1/4" hex drivers available that are smaller and offer more power.

1968 GM A body torque specs out of the assembly manual .
Body mount bolts 25 ft-lb
Steel wheel lug nuts 45 ft-lb
Chrome wheel lug nuts 55 ft-lb
Gas tank strap bolts 60 ft-lb
So the deWalt is plenty sufficiant
Correct, those are the torque specs from 1968. But, after 50 years on the car, those body mounts aren't budging without 500 ft-lbs of torque. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, I used the Dewalt to rebuilt my 1986 S10 4x4 5 speed, clutch, exhaust. The exhaust bolts hadn't been off in 34 years, so I had to cut them off. There were a few other bolts that I needed to drag out my big air impact. But, what the Dewalt did not do is strip or break anything. Thats a bonus, especially with the aluminum parts. The 5ah battery gives it more kick.
Edit: Not exhaust manifold bolts, just the cat back.
@@Shoptoolreviews 500?? lol Are you buying cars from the bottom of Lake Michigan? We’ve done 50 frame off so that’s 50×12 body mounts= 600 bolts and never used anything Close to that . That’s a good way to break a fastener .
@@Joe_Blo we don’t recommend putting an impact on manifold bolts . There are other techniques to not break them. Not sure on your vehicle, but a GM A body is only 12Ft Lbs torque ..
@@nixaeagle141 I agree. A GM dealer mechanic broke 2 exhaust manifold bolts while performing warranty work on my S10 in 1986. And left them broke. I didn't notice until I changed the plugs a year later. By then, the dealership had been sold. Those bolts are still broken off to this day because the motors and exhaust manifolds have never been removed.
BTW, I like the Dewalt DCF902 because of the Wrench mode and variable trigger. You can spin bolts in and out lightly, especially in aluminum, then use a torque wrench to finish.
BTW, too many, even pros, are just hammering down hardware with impacts and not using a torque wrench. Very bad.

Indeed Juan! When I put the 5.0 on my DCF 902, I could hear a slight speed increase. The 5.0 works great on the drill. The little 2.0 batteries are small and lightweight, but run down too quick! Peace

..” comparable in size,? “. That Skil is a club compared with the DeWalt!? .80 inches extra in length is a big deal, regarding the Skil!? Big difference in weight. IMO I like your multiple fastener set up, which eliminates variables, and though it would add to length of video, I would suggest doing this in 25 pound intervals? Just curious Thanks! 👍😁✌🏻

I had the stubby and the DeWalt in this video, and got rid of the stubby - if you’re actually using them and not just testing for max torque on RUclips, the DeWalt is much easier to use and handle, and feels much lighter. The extra power that the stubby has over the DeWalt isn’t really useful in most of the cases that I find myself wanting a small impact wrench. I have a bigger impact wrench to handle the stuff that the red stubby can’t loosen either.
@@javyLSU1 I feel that. The m12 stubby feels aggressive/violent when using it, It's very easy to damage an m6 size bolt or smaller if not being careful.
@@juanc5149 I don't know that I'd call the Milwaukee M12 Stubby a completely different kind of tool. It's a small 3/8" anvil impact wrench, just like the Skill & DeWalt demonstrated here. The biggest difference is pricepoint. As far as DeWalt's upcoming Stubby competitor goes, I expect it will be quite nice, but as with any arms race, Milwaukee will respond by updating their current offering and besting DeWalt once again. It's a scenario where we all win, regardless of whether you're on Team Yellow or Team Red.
Of course Dewalt is better no contest.
