I'm not a contractor just a diy guy and watching VCG videos and seeing what you thought of the 12v line I bought the Skil PWRcore 20 drill driver/impact driver kit. Got it at the end of 2019 for about $90.00 and couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the great videos / info you guys put out not just for contractors but for everyone.
Love what the new company is doing with Skil! Ever since Chervon (the company that makes ego) bought it off of Bosch, it started getting really good again.
Looks like Skil is starting to be more proactive with cordless tools which is great in my opinion, I think Skil has produced some great cordless tools and for example, the 12V brushless oscillating multitool is a great tool, I'm using it more than my M18 oscillating multitool.
Can we talk about how dope the little covers are? I think a lot of people don't realize how important it is to protect the battery connectors. Bought their 12v drill. Couldn't be happier. Hope they look into really expanding. Even into nailers and such as well
I got a kit with the 12v drill and impact a couple years ago. The chuck on the drill is trash, won’t hold a bit under even moderate torque but that impact driver has taken a hell of a beating and keeps on going. I really love the ring light on the 12v, wish they did the same on their 20V
Just got this one today about to put the clip on cant wait to see what she'll do on a metal roof love the weight of this drill! Skil your starting to win me back with these improvisions also the USB charging port is a nice lil bonus hahaahhh me and new tools like a kid in a toy store lol
I have the new cordless worm and i think it is a sign of things to come. I was waiting for you to do a review of this tool because i saw the deal on ACME and wanted to take advantage but went with Gen 3 Red instead. SKIL is high end tool no matter where its made. BTW love your channel.
I got the Skill job-site table saw with rack and pinion fence. Exceeds expectations, been a fantastic table-saw after shopping for years. The built in legs are rock solid and absolutely no wiggle. Fence is dead on. A bit tricky to get the 90 and 45 stops dialed in, but absolutely fantastic for the price point, worth much more. Because if this table-saw, i am considering buying into the pwecore 20v system.

I'll be picking one of these up to keep in the same ecosystem.

What do ya think vince? Skil seems lile a good investment for me since im starting out with light wood working, art and such. The 20v 12v and wired stuff is a pretty large lineup...and I can always add the 40 v and move up to actual skilsaw as I upgrade.
Reminds me a bit of Kobalt's assist mode. It sure sank those drywall screws pretty fast. We never got those stats though Vin. What's the max stats for high and low?
I got my Skilsaw cordless 7’ 1/4” saw ,watching your review. And got the extra battery promo from acme. I hope the skil saw brand comes with more tools for that battery. The Sawsquatch I see will be coming in November that’s great I will be getting that also. But back to the drill would be nice to see it go against Makita.
Just ordered the heavy duty 1/2 inch hammer drill with the 5 ah and impact... $107 for both! After a promo code of course but shit was real I'll have to let you know how it goes ☺️
Awesome tool I’m looking to get one soon. I have a Hercules and I absolutely love that thing but this SKIL looks legit!! Kind of want to see a torture test tho.
I have the skil pwrcore 20 v jigsaw. In the kit they put only one 2ah battery. I think that they should put 2 batteries of 2ah or one battery of 4 ah. The usb charger on the battery is a gimmick. Other than that the the jigsaw is great: accurate cuts, power, comfortable to hold, blowing saw dust very good, very good Bevel lever mechanism. Using bosch blades.
Skil is crushing it, I have both there 12v brushless line and starting buying there 20v brushless line. I currently use them just as much as my dewalt xr sets.. kobalt has also recently stepped there game up as well and have recently purchased some of there 24v brushless line as well...all in all..I use dewalt, skil and kobalt right now for my main everyday tools. As for my circular saw that I use everyday well thats gonna be a 7 and 1/4" milwaukee brushless circular saw...and I also absolutely love the dewalt atomic series 4 and 1/2 mini brushless circular saw it is an absolute monster!!
I’m looking at buying the new rigid octane half inch impact and I’m wondering if I should buy it or the Milwaukee half inch impact. I don’t have any Milwaukee tools so it would make sense to go with the rigid but I will buy whichever one is better regardless

I’m feeling like Skil has a lot more to come and is a better buy than Ridgid. Ridgid just doesn’t have a big selection and the prices of individual tools are usually too high.

I just got the brushless drill. Haven't even had a chance to try it out yet. I already have the cordless screwdriver. I realize that it's not that exciting of a tool. However, Skil might be the only one to actually have the intelligence to put an actual USB charge port on it instead of some proprietary charger that I have to keep up with. Granted, it's Micro USB, not Type-C, but at least I've already got plenty of cords and power bricks for it.
@VCG construction. Fine sir, love the videos. You touched on an idea that must be on people's minds; and that is: while Skil seems to have really taken it to another level of convenience,- (usb addition)___ the other factor... the twenty- five % function, begs the question: (for those of us that always take care of our batteries), why would one risk the forced current function to degrade a battery over its life cycles? Is this a switch choice on the charger? And caring for batteries to me has always been the battery cools for a good 45 mins at the,"taken off charger / taken off tool before a charge commences" directive. In this way, yes, I always buy about three batteries for rotation. Thanks for thoughts and input into Skil's drill as you have perhaps been putting it through the paces over the weeks?- I'm feeling very attracted to getting this drill but am uncertain if the 25% charge function can be nixed via a switch.
The software in the charger and battery allow the rapid charge to happen to 25% without harm to the battery. Once it achieves that state of charge the pace is slowed until it reaches its full capacity. Hope that helps!
