will you do a follow up video using the tenghui 7ah battery off Amazon they are about 20$? I ordered a couple and the run time is way better then the DeWalt 3ah but all I have is a cheap torque wrench and chrome sockets. I'd like to see how it does with more power before I go invest in a 3/8 set of deep well impacts.
So far they hold charge and work on both dcb115 and dcb112 chargers. I'd like to see if it's worth buying a bunch while they are still cheap (no reviews or ratings on Amazon)

@@singlecams yeah I hoped it would replace my 20v for most jobs but I don't think I'd use it for anything over 100ftlbs. I'm happy with it for the price but pretty much for small jobs.

I put a drop of WD40 silicone lubricant on the hog ring (wipe off excess) . Helps a lot. Also, sometimes rotating socket and trying a different position also often helps.
It's a great impact wrench. Its very good for removing engines of riding mowers and also for lawn mow pulleys basically anything the lawn mow needs to be removed. Just throwing that out there for people who are curious on buying it for a particular reason.
Got the same impact. Fine for general purpose nut spinning. If the lug nuts aren’t to rusted or over torqued, it will do the trick and it’s small and light weight. I like it and thanks for the video!

Up to 2:20 mark, low battery, much low power has been my experience. After 5 lug nuts, it can lose enough power to affect torque that it will not break loose nuts another wheel. So I switch the battery, slap depleted on charger.
You should buy a 3ah battery if you'll be using it a lot on big or corroded, stuck hardware.
Dewalt nailed it for non-professional market with this tool for $99.

PS: Grease or oil your impact sockets. They are tighter fitting. Lube helps remove crusty nuts. Also, grease hog ring. Makes changing sockets much easier, especially if you're under a car on a creeper.
Edit: This is an impact wrench, and it is maddening that Dewalt intentionally handicapped it's main function by packaging it with two 2AH instead of say, one 3AH battery.

I bought one of this 2 weeks ago for 99 dollars it works okay since it had 2 batteries a bit easier to work under car to take off bolts is really a bolt breaker at fully charge battery not bad at all work great
As fas as I know the 3/8 impact wrench are disigned to work until 16 mm socket size. So, 17mm or higher torque bolts you should use de 1/2 impact wrench. You need to know that if you abuse of the impact can very easy be damage. I impressed how well works this dewalt 3/8. Does more than expected
A 12mm bolt is small, but if it’s really rusted on like that one was, it’s understandable for a compact 12v 3/8 drive, also it was taking off wheel nuts which is extremely impressive and a lot more than you’d generally ask for a 3/8s. If you wanted more power surely you’d get the 18v.
Love the real world application with rusted nuts and bolts. I bought the tool because of you.
Ahhh, Man. I bought the Hercules 12v for these mechanical tasks 2 months ago, before this Dewalt came out. Really like it, but It's too weak with adapters for any rusted bolts over 5/16". (BUT, it is perfect for smaller bolts, using on plastic like dash work because it has a nice progressive trigger to reduce speed and thus impact on smaller screws, like interior, in sheet metal, or aluminum).
Fortunately, I only paid $40 for it new off Ebay.

I pay $83 for this kit at lowe’s to be honest you can’t beat the price and I also have Milwaukee M12 3/8 Stubby gun,Tool and battery cost me over triple then this kit but I don't feel big different between this 2 gun

I agree. Ofc the stubby is stronger hut they handle the same amount of varying ranges of torque. If you need stronger just get your mid or high torque. Because in reality there will be times where stubby can't take it off and you'll need the mid torque. Same deal with the dewalt. It's a bit weaker but much more compact. Better price aswell. Saves you money to buy a mid or high torque

Hi, this is absolutely the most realistic demonstration of an cordless impact on the car repair, excellent quality tools and video ty so much,
I think for the size size its awesome and packs a pretty good torque rating. I think its more for the dyi'ers ant not everday job users. Keep in mind it runs off a battrry so it's not meant to disassemble the whole car or last a full work day. My advice, If you get it be sure to have extra batteries.
I liked this one so much I purchased the drill and the impact driver I did my brakes with the impact wrench it took all my bolts off my caliper and off of my wheels

Milwaukee M12 3/8 stubby has more power with a 250 ft-lbs, but for $99 deal for a kit it is unbeatable

For $99 kit you can’t beat that compared to the stubby! Just alone the 3/8 stubby tool only is almost double the 3/8 extreme impact wrench kit.

Not true, theirs lugs my stubby won’t bust. The kit doesn’t even come close I’ve compared mine to a stubby that a buddy owns. Besides I have the high torque now and the right angle stubby. Dewalt in the mechanical tool section just doesn’t bust it.

This is the most accurate video I've found. It's weird how much the right socket helps mine wouldn't break lugs with deep well chrome husky sockets but would break them easy with an impact rated extension and a shallow chrome. The batteries kinda suck for anything over 100ftlbs though I can eat away a while bar on a few lugs. I bought the 3ah and it lasts a lot longer they should come standard with 3ah.
Zack can you remove lug nuts at 130 with the 3amp battery?
@@joseguero19911 yes it will do 130 the only time it struggles is on high torque rusted lugs. If you torque then yourself at 130 and it hasn't been sitting in a field you should be good to go. Mine will break 130ftlbs with a 2amp battery.

I bought the DCF923B yesterday for the sole purpose of not wanting to drag out my compressor to do brakes on my wife's Jeep. Sadly even with a 5mah battery it didn't get the job done.
I just ordered one of these from Lowe's today with the charger 2 batteries and the bag for 108 dlrs after tax. Hopefully I'm not disappointed. I just work on my own car a little honda civic I currently use a cheap hyper tough impact driver from Wal-Mart with adapters and a big corded bauer 1/2 for axle nuts and crank pulley bolt. I think this will work well for me bc I want a weaker one for the smaller bolts in the engine bay
In fairness to DeWalt they rate this tool at 125 ft lbs of torque for fastening, break away torque is marketing hype. The Tool Boss tested this tool at about 125 ft lbs of torque on his channel, that's where it should be. A nice light duty impact at $99. USD at Lowes for tool, 2 batteries, dual voltage charger and bag a solid deal.

@@cardo1111 Used to work at Lowe's and they're ridiculous with their price changes, especially with power tools. They yo-yo up and down almost constantly with DeWalt in particular.
Makita seems to rate it for both breakaway and tightening.

I may be getting a 3/8s impact soon, and I was thinking about going with the XR and coupling it with my current XR driver, but the new Extreme line looks really good. Plus, I can get an extreme impact driver too and keep my XR at home. Also, if I wanted to get the Mac 12v ratchet I could use these batteries.

I just bought this at Lowe's with the DCF902F2 + the 5Ah battery. I plan to use it to do car maintenance and watch other people's video and it seems like it wasn't going to break anything above 170in-lb. But from your video it looks like there shouldn't be any problems even with rusted bolts. Thanks for the video!
it is pretty weak they are doing like 170 on a lugnut or a bigger bolt these are small bolts i would wait and get the 901 or even the ryobi is way better

The reason your sockets get stuck on the hog ring is because you are using chrome sockets. The retention on chrome sockets is 4 indents/cut outs inside the drive side which grip the hog ring on 4 sides. Impact sockets don't get stuck because they use the hole on the side for retention which allows the friction ring to do its job properly. Use the right sockets and you won't have a problem anymore.
Mike that is not true I was using impact sockets in this video and only 1 chrome socket. This was already talked about long time ago that is why I made the how to change out the hog ring to pin detent video for the dcf899. Not all hogrings are made the same. I pointed out the poor hogring on the makita as well for other reasons.
In this video all the black sockets are impacts the orange is a chrome.
Well lowes has the dcf901b but lists the dcf903b 3/8ths as currently unavailable but that is good news. I've noticed there are two companies with the 903 3/8ths in stock , but are price gouging asking 190 plus shipping. The waiting continues.

Got one today, wouldn't be a great fit with sockets compared to snap on,kind slides off the anvil until the retaining ring stops it falling off completely

No one mentions this is rated 200ft/lbs torque but with the 20v battery. If he replaced the battery with the 20v one he would get those stuck bolts out easier

I just bought this impact and I'm also having this problem. I noticed the rubber o-ring under the hog ring on my impact is smashed. Maybe that's why I'm having trouble removing my sockets.
For the price of $99 for the kit, it's an excellent deal. Can take the wheels off of small cars and do some smaller things around the house. Not bad! I bought the Milwaukee stubby though, lol.

It beats my 20v dcf887 although I lose torque having to run an adapter the 887 claims almost 1900 inch pounds and the 12v smokes it for break away torque.
@@zack6892 I don't know about that. I have the 887 890 and this 12v. The 890 smokes the 12v and the 887 does even better even though it's a 1/4 hex.
Any troubles with socket retention? I have a husky set but none of them stay on except the extensions. Wanted to know if anyone had the same issue? And maybe any ideas on a different set.
They have to be impact sockets. They are a tighter fit. If you're using regular sockets they are most likely loose.
DaBuGzLiFe I was using some impact ones but I guess they don’t work since they are thin wall?

jred23pyro for doing suspension mostly on those big 17 and 19 mm is impossible for that impact size does really help if you loosen it a little not a bad work though

If you look at the best rated cordless impact wrench it's a generic brand that costs under $100 with batteries. It was better than DeWalt or Milwaukee combined. Problem is it's only sold online. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.
Just recently purchased this but in two minds whether to keep it or not... i do valeting/detailing and I'm looking something reliable when it comes to taking lug nuts off that are extremely tight.. would i be best going for a bigger impact wrench?
If you use an adapter to attach sockets on the DeWalt DCF787DT2 impact driver, is that essentially the same as the impact wrench? What I mean is, will I get more versatility out of buying an impact driver over an impact wrench? Is there essentially little difference? Thanks.

890 listed as 150 ftlbs max and this has 125. Not sure what max breakaway is on the 890.
But that doesn't make sense that a 12v tool would have better specs than the flagship 3/8 20v XR

The Milwaukee 3/8 stubby would've taken all those fasteners with no issues
my issue with the stubby from experience is that while it benefits from being extremely short, it suffers from a requiring a larger diameter hammer so the distance from the center of the anvil to the edge of the tool is greater so it winds up not being able to get to some fasteners. its also heavier, and the light on this kicks ass. supposedly dewalt is coming out with a more powerful 12v impact. but for $99 right now at lowes in a kit, its going to be hard to beat.
Holding it on when it clearly can’t break the bolt is a great way to burn the motor out
if you watch the gauge on the torque testing machine it takes about 10 seconds for the impact to build peak torque for example these 2 vids

i've never used it but I will tell you they are about the same size because i think the dcf890 3/8 impact is the same as the dcf887 impact driver and I have the dcf887 20v here and its the same size as this 12v dcf902

How do you feel it compares with the Milwaukee Stubby? Seems less powerful by a lot!
Definitely less powerful than a 3/8 stubby on specs alone but it's also easy to see. But in saying that the M12 Stubby is a much bulkier tool and I am also guessing it's heavier. Not sure they can be directly compared to one another. I think the Milwaukee 2454-20 would be closer in size, weight and torque to the 12V Xtreme.
MrBigblock78 you're right, this seems like a driver where they put a hogged anvil. I have the stubby and it appears much fatter but the weight is still quite low. It works very well under hood. Not sure how this DEWALT lineup comes in with its apparent limitations!
@@ibrazeau3044 yeap, it is just that. A driver with a hogged anvil. But in saying that it it doesn't make it a bad tool. Most tools are good if used within their limitations. Still with only limited number of new Xtreme tools Dewalt has put out so far I doubt people will be rushing out to buy them or switching from other 12V brands. Plus they need to sort out bigger capacity batteries too. Number one complaint from new Xtreme tool owners seems to be the battery draining very quickly.
I love my M12 stubby, the M12 3/8' 2454-20 for very tight spaces in the engine bay, M12 Fuel ratchet and heap of other tools from the Milwaukee M12 range. Can't see anything that would make me jump ship just yet.
MrBigblock78 ditto to that! Seems like another marketing ploy from DEWAL again! I had the 2755B and replaced it with the Stubby... no regrets and feel it was a good move. Would never consider doing something like that with this little tool. For very tight spots, where either of my stubby or ratchet don't fit (can't wait to try out those new long neck fuels), I use my Gen2 driver and it usually does the trick!
This took looks pretty impressive to me, doesn't seem that far off especially for the money. I tried the stubby, sure they have bigger batteries but it's heavier and bulky

For low torque applications they do great if your working over 100ftlbs your gonna want to get the bigger 3ah batteries.

@@DavidHernandez-ue4fz DeWalt biggest 12v battery is a 3 ah. On Amazon there is a company called tenghui they make a 12v 7ah. I've been testing it and it seems to offer longer sustained torque then the dewalt but not sure on longevity yet.

@@DavidHernandez-ue4fz probably not I assume you mean a 20v. These 12v extreme take a different battery then the 20v the only thing interchangeable are the 20/12v chargers.

This thing couldn't even loosen my lug nuts torque to 76 ft.
I doubt that because I tested it myself over and over. 80ft-lbs torqued with a wrench no problem. You need to charge the battery.
He might be correct. I too torque my lugnuts to 76 ft-lbs and found even a Milwaukee 18v mid level impact wrench struggling (300ftlbs max).
