What I do is lube the friction ring with 3 in 1 multi purpose lube. I put couple drops and it slide easily with 1/2” impact sockets. I have the dcf901 and it’s a beast of a tool I tend to grab it most times because it light.

Purchase the dcf921 instead in the 20 v line way better

I disagree. I just purchased a KOBALT 3/8 impact wrench. And it's funny I ran across this video, because their friction is bad as well

Kobalt is bad also could barely get the socket on and off.
