  • An umbilical hernia happens when there is a defect in the abdomen wall, through which the intestine and the fats around the intestine, push through the defect and appear as a lump. Expert surgeon Mr Barun Majumder explains the causes and symptoms of umbilical hernia, and when surgery is necessary.

I just got a hernia surgery done next to my belly button. It is healing up fine no problems I would recommend if you have a small hernia forming. Go get it fixed while it's still small before it gets bigger.

No I did not have a mesh put in.
Also I did not have chronic pain.
I was sore couple of days. But it was a very good recovery. The thing that made a big difference was I got Treatment when the hernia was small in size .

What if the hernia is caused by obesity, and the person loses a great deal of weight, and eliminates the source of the pressure. Will the hernia fat contents slide back inside and the muscle gap close?

Ok so I had an umbilical hernia repair in 2008 about four years later I had spinal x-rays and in unbeknownst to me the x-rays showed what looked like small surgical steel rings around the perimeter of what I'm guessing was the mesh. I had no idea these were used and have not been able to find one reference to these rings in hernia repair. Are the rings metal, can I have an MRI if they are. I was never told they would be used or warned about MRI's . What are they?

Dr. Barun Majumder. It is not easy to get an honest advice please give us your professional advice, it will help many people around the world. I am having right inguinal hernia for about three months. I am contemplating open surgery without mesh and with a mesh. There are many feedbacks from people who repaired with mesh surferring permanent chronic pain. In your opinion, what are the things the surgeon should not do and should do in order to avoid letting his patient get permanent chronic pain when repair with mesh? If yourself needed an inguinal hernia repair (about three months hernia) would you go for mesh or without mesh? Please kindly advise us I believe many people around the world will benefit from your opinion.

For many it’s to late ,once the damage is done ,the hairs are burnt off and never ever grow back . If your a man , then it will affect the quality of your sperm, if female affects eggs.
Every time I get a craving I think about strangulation, because it’s exactly like that . If you smoke longer than 8-10 yrs ,the damage is irreversible. Please don’t. Drink water, soak in 5 cups of Epsom salts and allow hot water to dissolve. Scrub with white towel. Why because if anything brown on towel ,it’s from smoking, cigarettes toxins ,it will kill you . It’s not to late ,but for many it is . I just had a friend die from CF . She was 21 ,she begged for new lungs ,but she survived only 4 days . It turns to emphysema . Oxygen tank . She gasped for every breath. Please think of George Floyd if you want an incentive. It’s hell when you cannot breathe, trust me ok.

Go on soul pancake. Kids teens people dying for one breath, and you want a cigarette. You can do this ,I know you can. It’s an addiction ,I wish I’d never started . It’s to late for me .
