I love the fact that this game matters again. As a college football fan I remember the years when this game was "The Game". Tennessee has been close a few times in the past 16 years but to look at the skill and precision passing for the Vols it's obvious that the hype is real. I look forward to a great game and atmosphere.

He did against Georgia in the SEC title game.
His scripts and 1st quarter plans are pretty good for the most part. But second half offense the last two seasons has been bad. Offense hasn’t been able to put people away when the chances are there.
I can appreciate your view. But against a&m if the qb doesn’t fumble the ball a lot that would have been a scores like Arkansas.
It’s been absolutely unnerving watching Alabama this year, with or without Bryce. They need to play error free ball!!

1st Q of A&M Milroe had running lanes up the middle. Later AM disciplined pass rush left no holes. Don't understand why Bama didn't roll him out to allow him to pass or run easily. If Bryce plays /plays well, have a good chance to win. If Milroe plays have a chance if he can can effectively pass, no turnovers. otherwise I would agree Tennessee has a great chance to win. Especially if Tennessee's offense can score even as little as 14 to 20 points and Vol's D holds Bama to a stalemate. Biggest Q to me is Vols D. If Bama can run ball down their throat, winning time of possession, throw a few passes, its a different story. Hard for Vol to win if you're wearing out their D, grinding the ball down the field. Bama gets everyone's A-game vs how good/bad is Vols D?
Am I the only one that thinks that people not appreciating this rivalry unless they're over "23 or 33" isn't people's faults, it's the fault of the teams (mainly Tennessee, no offense). We feel and know the big time rivalries because we watch them play out and feel the crazy atmosphere. Have better matchups over the span of "23 or 33" years and people will appreciate the rivalry as big time! :)

One thing I would like to mention. The day Bryce got injured he was absolutely LIGHTING up Arkansas. It was actually the first time this year that he did that. And I'm not saying it was all on him, the game is played on the line. Everyone seemed to have time to do what they do. And I am aware of the orange line, yes. So hopefully they can keep Bryce up.
Arkansas literally had the worst pass defense in the nation going into that game. Young having a good game against them surprised literally no one.

If Bryce plays Bama wins. If he doesn't, they lose, it's as simple as that to me. Tennesse is good but TO ME they're not as good as everyone is making them out to be. Tennesse hasn't done anything that just makes me go "yeah they're dangerous" Yes, I think this is a WAAAAAYY better Tennesse team then in the past, but I think they're only scary if Bryce doesn't play.

As a Georgia fan, I'm rooting for "The real Alabama", remember, that wasn't "The real" Alabama that Georgia beat for the National Championship in Indianapolis because Metchie didn't play and Jameson Williams left the game to injury early, plus 'Bamas Freshman receivers and their backup Cornerbacks weren't up to the task so obviously, Georgia should receive an asterisk besides their 2021 National Championship. So yeah I hope that Alabama runs the table in the regular season so that we can see what "The Real" Alabama is all about in Atlanta in December.
I’m expecting a close, field goal, field position, type of game. The team that runs the ball the best and stops the run on defense will win. I know Tennessee fans are starving to end these streak. In 2002 I was starved for a TSIO win for Bama after seven years.

Pitt, LSU, and Florida are a combined 13-4 in there games outside of Tennessee. All these teams would be ranked still if they hadn't lost to Tennessee. Stop acting like a 40-13 win over a 5-2 LSU on the road isn't good.

I don’t see Bryce being 100%. Even a grade 1 sprain takes 4-6 weeks to fully heal the ligament/muscle. Given that he’s the quarterback and it’s his throwing arm, it’s possible he’ll be 80%.

@@JoshPateCFB not at all. You are connected and your takes are normally spot on. However, I’ve been watching Saban’s mind games for years. Saban will never tell you he’s resting a starter because that’s against his entire coaching philosophy. Saban also never dresses a player who’s not going able to play in some capacity if needed. Had Milroe gotten hurt last week Bryce would’ve come in.
To my other point, everyone in the media is so desperate for an upset this week that they are giving Tennessee way too much of a chance. I think Tennessee is a solid team this year and I think they beat UGA but their weaknesses are Bama’s strength, no matter who the QB is. TAMU, for all their flaws has a solid defensive backfield so a green passer like Milroe was going to struggle through the air. Tennessee has a terrible pass defense. I believe they are in the 100s in the rankings. Tennessee will not be able to afford to use Safety help to try and keep Milroe’s legs in check and if they do, the WRs for Bama will be so open on deep balls that anyone could get them the ball. Your not normally one to join in on the popular upset pick but I think you fell for the same thing every other prognosticator did this week: it would be exciting to see Tennessee finally beat Saban so you made an emotional pick.

Everybody is talking about Tennessee winning this game, beating UGA, and rematching Alabama in the SEC championship game and possibly making a playoff. Bare in mind that Tennessee is like 124th in the country in pass yards allowed, don't be surprised if Georgia and Alabama light that soft secondary up. Yep ... our secondary is our weak link. We are good up front. Not terrible at LBs but not that good in the back end. I am NOT convinced this is our year (hopeful beyond measures) but I AM CONVINCED we are definitely headed in the right direction and getting there quickly. Go ... Big ... Orange !!!
Secondary is definitely Tennessee’s weakness but too much has been made of it. Get a big lead on teams with a fast paced offense and you make those teams one dimensional.
It's very lucky for Tennessee that they won't be getting peak Bryce in this game, cuz the last time he played a pass D this bad he put up almost 200 yards in the first quarter against Arkansas, and that was on the road too. That's probably what Bama's gonna need even with how great their defense is.
As a life long tennessee fan I’m afraid our fans are getting a little ahead of ourselves I’m not saying we can’t beat bama but it’s not going to be easy we are definitely on the right track to get back to being tops I. Talking about the 3rd Saturday in October, I remember a story from 1982. The World's Fair was in Knoxville. There was a local Knoxville food vendor that had a shop at the Fair. Naturally they had the game on the radio. When UT won the game, the local vendor shut his whole shop down, locked the doors and left 100s of people standing in line while he and his entire staff marched through the Fair waving UT flags, singing Rocky Top and showed their Vol pride for the whole world to see. Now, I don't know how true that story is, but I think about every year.

I’m not a fan of either team. Here’s how this works:
1) Bryce plays, Bama wins
2) Bryce doesn’t play, Milroe doesn’t turn the ball over 2 times, Bama slightly wins
3) Bryce doesn’t play, Milroe turns the ball over 2 or more times, Tenn wins
Not a fan of either team too and I agree with what you said here. But if Milroe plays and doesn't turn the ball over he still has to make the throws. Tennessees run defense is good. If Milroe is one dimensional, which he looked last week, then he will have to make the big throws. In my opinion if MIlroe plays, Tennesse will win.

Tenn's run defense isn't nearly as good as TAM's, especially when TAM had Jackson back in their lineup as a leader on their defense. Tenn's pass defense allowed AR to throw all over them, and he hasn't thrown on anyone else. I think JMill will be okay against Tenn if he fixes his fumble fingers. With JMill, I see the game as 34-31 Bama. With Bryce, I see it more like 54-24 Bama
REMINDER - Vegas sets point spreads NOT because one team is 7 points better than the other, but they set the point spread in order to BALANCE the $$$ being bet on each team. Losers pay off the winners, and Vegas profits off the betting fees. That's how they make their $$$.

Hooker’s legs may be the difference. If the Bama pass rush can flush him out, can they then contain him? I feel good about this game as a Vol fan. As a bama fan this game is scary without Bryce. I believe Bama has the best defense in college football and it won’t be easy for Tennessee to score points but with an anxiety filled backup qb in that kind of atmosphere it will be hard for bama to move the ball at all. I honestly thought Jalen was farther along as a passer than he is. We know Ty Simpson can pass but is he comfortable enough in the offense to get some scoring drives against this team in this atmosphere? Either way it will be a good game and there may be a rematch in the SEC championship game. Roll Tide.

I do think Tennessee is the better team right now but if Bryce is at 85 percent I think Bama can find away to win. But if Bryce is not able to go and play at a high level Tennessee will win easily.
I'm encouraged that Saban said that Bryce wanted to go into the game against A and M. If Milroe does play, I hope BOB gives him an actual package of plays that suits his skill set. I think Saban will bench Milroe if he has a first half like he had last week. Anderson, Turner, and Brasewell must sack Hooker when they have a chance to bring him down.
Agreed on all points. However even if Milroe doesn't have 3 turnovers again this week it's still gonna be hard to win with basically no passing game. Got my fingers crossed but my gut is telling me we win at least somewhat comfortably.
I feel Milroe would get benched if he has a first quarter like last week, we absolutely cannot waste no time with TN. Yeah that cheetah package I think is going to show up big in this game to keep the TN O off balance.

Without Bryce if the O plays good situational football doesn't make any major mistakes, the D an special teams has a solid game I can see us mooching out a win.
Dawg fan here, watched Tennessee so far and they legit scare me, I think Bama fans should be concerned, and they will need their A game...anything else and they lose
The thing about the A&M game was that the only reason the game was close was the turnovers from Millroe. Eliminate one turnover that A&M scored on (The majority of their points) and the game wasn't a one score game and wasn't really close. Team wise, Bama looked definitively better.
A huge problem with Milroe is that he seems to panic as soon as the pocket breaks down
@@poopeater4136 I don't care so much if he panics with the pocket breakdown because he has options. Run or check down. But, the fact that his check downs were open SO many times and he didn't dump the ball to them, is the problem. I kind of figured we'd see who Milroe really was when he started a game 0-0 opposed to coming in already up 14 (arky).
A&M was down a ton of starters as well in that game. People keep failing to mention that and act like Alabama was the only one down starters. Bama was fortunate to walk away with the win last week.

I agree with the 20 hurries, but I also note that Hanes King was on a bum wheel and Alabama turned up the pressure. Hendon has an uncanny ability to slip through the crack of a blitz and run. It’s going to be an intense game.
And bama is really good at not letting the QB pass the line of scrimmage and not over rush best I’ve seen them do it in years

Tennessee is playing great, but they ain't really seen any pretty good team yet. Their Pittsburgh win was in overtime. LSU and Florida aren't consistent. Alabama imo is their first true test. We shall see. Even if Bama loses, they'll probably still be in the NC game.

Been Vol since around same time frame, when I first realized what football was and I loved playing and my roots were in TN. Think you about got it right. We've seen some wild shit over the years and looking forward to actually looking forward to UT Bama game finally... best of luck to both teams to play great and avoid injuries. Tennessee has good rush defense numbers because team have to go score for score with them and abandon the running game in the 2nd half. You saw this in the Pitt game. Bama will play better than people think. Remember 2 weeks ago when people thought that Arkansas was going to upset Bama on the road and they were saying the same things about KJ Jefferson. Hendon Hooker averages less than 2 TDs through the air per game and while he can absolutely sling the ball, Bama did a good job last year and held him to 3 TDs and the entire TN offense to less than 350 yards on 55 total plays. Meanwhile, Alabama racked up 5 TD and 208 yards on 48 carries and pulled away scoring 28 points in Q4.

Also to your point about Hendo only avg 2 TDs throwing - well - 2 games he barely played 3 quarters and we were trying to establish a running game (went pretty well against LSU mind you) so we haven't had to "rely" on that as of yet. 🙂. And ... I hope we don't going forward just as you don't with Alabama. Great to pound the ball. 🙂 I am 51 and I remember these games as nail biters. I hope we get back to that.
