      When i exchanged my bandit 1200 for a sv650 2004 i said "this thing corners like its on rails!!!" just to have an idea how good it is compared to the bandit. And know what, the left fork had a tremendous leak with almost no oil inside! Now imagine the bike with progressive springs, new seals and fresh oil. You dont need 3000eur suspensions to corner fast,just a good rider, a well balanced bike with correct centre of gravity and thats it

  • @bas4627
    @bas4627 Год назад +2

    That is a coincidence. For the first time in years I managed to be able to rent a bike for a day again. I did so last Friday and I chose a SV650 (I had the blue/bronze combo, looked very nice). Since I'm obviously a complete novice it is really cool to see your opinion of the bike. And I agree, while being inexperienced, I still felt almost instantly at easy with the bike. There is not too much power to be intimidating, but definitely enough to keep things interesting! The spread of torque makes a forgiving engine too, when as a novice you're sometimes in the wrong gear. There was one bigger issue I struggled with and that was the fueling. I didn't like the initial snatchy throttle, but I believe most modern bikes have this. But, when downshifting it responds super well to rev matching, which even I managed to do (most of the time) after very little practice. And this negates some of the jerky throttle. Also, after a couple hours the seat started to feel really thin

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  Год назад

      Thanks for sharing!! Agreed, the fueling might not be the best. There are bikes out there which are much smoother with throttle responses. But like you guessed correctly, there's also many out there with a snappy initial response. Indeed I don't notice a snappy one unless it's really bad :D

      As an SV650 owner, I was in between these two bikes as well. I can say I'm happy with my pick.
      My girlfriend has an MT07 2021 and I have an SV650 2022 so I'll give you some comparisons.
      1. SV650 has way better build quality IMHO.
      - The gas tank is metal, there is a lot less plastic in general, and the MT07s plastic tank squeaks a lot when duck walking it in your driveway
      2. Driving position on the SV650 is way sportier.
      - You sit leaned more toward the handlebars, and your feet are further back compared to the MT07.
      After riding my SV and sitting on an MT, it feels like I just sat on a touring bike.
      If you're taller, you might like the MT more. I'm 6ft2in and the SV sometimes just feels a bit cramped, but I got used to it.
      3. Driving comfort.
      - The SV650 is less comfortable for sure. The stock seat sucks and it's too narrow, and it's a smaller bike too.
      The suspension is stiffer on the SV giving it better handling, but as a downside it's a bit more uncomfortable.
      But I would say that 90% of the problem would be fixed by a more comfy seat. You can buy a tuck & roll seat which is not too expensive.
      4. Exhaust sound.
      - The stock exhaust on the MT07 sucks ass, you can basically only hear it when it idles on cold start. When driving it sounds like a sewing machine.
      The SV650 is way louder when on the gas, but also sounds like a sewing machine most of the time when riding normally.
      A major upside is that on the SV650 you can just buy a slip-on exhaust to make it sound better, no tune needed.
      On the other hand, the MT07 has a full system installed as stock, so you can only buy a full system to modify it, and that will require a tune, which is expensive.
      5. Power.
      - To me, they feel really similar, you can look up drag races comparing the two. I don't think you will be disappointed with either one.
      6. Features.
      - The MT07 just has more features, no questions about it. You have a better screen, LED headlight, LED blinkers out the box.
      Unlike the SV650 which has buttons right on the screen, the MT07 can control the screen via buttons on the handlebars.
      MT07 can show you the the engine temperature and outside temperature, whereas the SV only shows the engine temp in shape of 6 lines on the screen.
      7. Fuel consumption
      - The MT07 wins this one easily. The SV650 uses about 4.5-5.5 L/100km in the city when I ride it, and about 3.8-4.2 L/100km on country roads.
      The MT07 uses about 4.2-4.7 L/100km in the city, and 3.5-4 L/100km on country roads.
      Difference is really because the SV has a V-twin, more moving parts = less efficiency.
      In conclusion, I really like my SV650, but since I bought it I added LED blinkers, bar-end mirrors, slip-on exhaust and a tail tidy. Before those mods I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, especially without the new exhaust. I think you won't be disappointed with either of these bikes, can't really make a mistake here.

      @@anteperkovic9960 Nice summary, and I agree with a lot of your points. I changed from a 2020 SV to a 2020 MT, only because I liked them both so much. The only negative for the SV was a feeling that the front end felt too light and didn't inspire confidence, especially in the wet. The MT is better, although both these bikes have very budget suspension. I prefer the engine in the MT, it's just more fun imo. However, the SV hangs on better at the top end. I also preferred the SV brakes, less ABS intervention. You really can't go wrong with either of these, both so much fun for very little money.

      My first bike was a 2002 Honda CB500, the Schaaf-model. I guess I started watching Schaaf videos after I bought the bike. In 2020 I bought a half year old Suzuki SV650, so 2019 model. They are a bit alicke, however the SV drives more refined and has way better engine sound. My wife has a 2014 Bandit 650 naked. The Bandit is completely different and way less fun. The SV handles way better, mainly due to the weight difference. I also like the L2 sound better then the I4. I think the SV650 is just a brilliant bike.
