I tried the process, but as others have experienced, it caused my Keurig to power off and wouldn't turn back on. The thermostat needed to be reset, which I was able to learn how to do by watching other videos. After tripping the thermostat twice, I found a workaround for my K Supreme Plus. I added a small amount of water to the reservoir (about 4 oz) and then initiated the descale process. After a couple of short cycles to empty the reservoir, the "add water" light appeared and I was able to continue with the descale process. My Keurig works great once again.
Yep. Mine tripped the power off too. Second time this has happened. Wife wants to just replace it instead of dismantling the thing a second time since the descale mode is constantly triggering anyways. The newer Keurigs don't seem to last as many years as the first models :(
Thank you! I'm going to try to run it when the water gets low! We use purified water (our tap is disgusting and unfortunately Distilled will trigger the ADD WATER button on this model 🙄), so I can't imagine it actually needs to be descaled as often as it's throwing the DESCALE light!
My Dad's tried and true way to get the warning light off: get a small piece of black electrical tape; affix it over the light. Done! Well, it worked for auto warning lights

For the last 3 times the I ‘descaled’ my Keurig machine, the DESCALE light WOULD NOT go out. I have been using the Amazon pick for descale solution and in spite of my best efforts I could not eliminate that damn light. I have been timing the 30 minute ‘rest’ period recommenced -if you have time, to no avail.
However, this last time I had the solution added to about half the water they recommend and then got distracted and the 30 minute ‘rest’ cycle went on for just over an hour. That said, I finished the ‘Descale’ mode & at the end the light WENT OUT!!! I couldn’t believe it.
IT WORKED! YOU ARE A GENIUS! Dad I cannot thank you enough! I descale twice and the light stayed on. I pressed the buttons multiple times. I unplugged. I ran a full rinse.

Worked like a charm! I misplaced the booklet and tried to descale with vinegar on 2 different occasions "with the power on". I stumbled across your video, followed your instructions, and that last move, taking the reservoir off and pressing K, did the trick. Thank-you!
Thank you so much. I have the exact same Keurig and was in the same exact situation with light not turning off after descaling over and over and trying different methods. BUT I never saw a tip like you gave, or thought to remove the water tank and press the K button while still descale mode.. And just as you demonstrated, my machine then turned off, so I turned back on, put the water reservoir back on, and everything is now back to normal. No more "DESCALE" display.. Thanks! This method worked but after I removed the water tank, I pressed all the buttons starting from the 12oz and going around to the Power button last. Then I got the Add Water and Normal Strength & Temp selection. Can barely hear anything you say. Got my volume all the way up on my laptop but had to put in my Airpods Pro with Noise Cancelling to hear. I suggest you use a microphone.
Dear Dad, thanks so much, your trick worked. But, I have already bought a new Cuisinart. That descale problem was so aggravating to me. The manufacturer doesn't even know how this is fixed. My thanks to you for this fix.

I have a different model, Keurig and what worked for me is turning on the machine and pressing 8 & 10 Oz for 3 seconds and that cleared the descale light for me.thank you for your video, it was a great help!

Tried it. Machine is totally broken now. Won't ever buy another Keurig. This one lasted 1 and a half years. Way too much money to waste on coffee machines as this was our 3rd Keurig in 9 years.

Thanks for posting about this glitch that we have too! After I saw that folks were not able to turn their machines back on after pushing the blinking "k" button, I tried just removing the reservoir like you did and opening/closing or closing/opening (already can't remember which order, but hoping it doesn't matter) where the pod goes (without pushing any blinking buttons) and the descale seems to have gone away...Not sure how long it will last, but we were able to brew a cup and the descale did not come back. It might be a little less aggressive than pushing the blinking "k" button and still work for some.

So I did this and you really should be careful. Taking off the reservoir and pushing the k button turns off the keurig because it FRYs IT! It’s been a half an hour and it won’t turn on!!!! I now have to get a new one! I’m not the only one that has commented about this! You really should amend this or take it down!
As soon as the water stopped I unplugged it, then plugged back in and the descale light was gone. Sorry about your coffee pot.

If you remove the stainless steel cover and then locate the thermostat you can reset it and it’ll be up and running again!
Yep, broke mine as well, I had to go to another video to find out how to disassemble the entire unit to reset the thermal switch. The correct answer is to hold 8oz and 12oz at the same time. Reported this video for misinformation

Broke my machine. It’s unplugged now and will try powering it up again in a few hours. Can’t believe such a simple task causes this widespread problem
To descale, remove filter and ensure there is no pod in the brewing area, add vinegar or descaling solution to the reservoir (I use 1/2 white distilled vinegar and 1/2 water). The power button should be off. Press the 8 oz & 12 oz buttons simultaneously. It will begin the descale process. Keep pressing the center K button and dump out hot liquid in coffee cup. Once complete, the descale light should go out.
This video was made for Keurig owners that cannot get the descale light off even after they descaled their Keurig K supreme Plus. I had this issue and the light would never go off after following instructions.

@@mitch7058 did that and it reset then shut back off 5 mins later lol. Apparently the machine tripping out after descale is a problem after my husband and I looked further into it…So I don’t blame the video I blame Keurig. Thanks for trying to help🙂

Thanks for the information. I ran 13 cups of water through mine during the descaling process and the damn light wouldn't go out. I tried your method and the descaling light went out and everything is back to normal.

So from power off press 9 and 12 oz together, it will enter descal mode i have yet to get light off so i popped off case and pushed reset after it sat and cooled down
Guys I found the solution. I filled mine half way with water and vinegar. Then descaled it back to back until the water completo ran out. as soon as the water ran out completely, it cleared the descale message. It’s almost as if requires a certain amount of water and wants you to finish the water but it can’t figure it out on its own haha
Do not run the keurig without the reservoir. I did it and my keurig will not turn back on.
🫤 I did this and my Keurig smelled like burned then it turned off tried to turn it back on but it turn back on. I think something burned out 😔
I think the Vinegar process has damaged my last 2 Keurig coffee makers. That is why I purchased Keurig 3 month brewer kit ….now I can’t get the descale off…

I took the reservoir off pushed the K button and it did shut off, but after I put the reservoir back on the machine won’t turn back on and opened the lid and it was “smoking”

@@kimchown1922 mine never did come back on, went on other You Tube videos, I think it overheated the internal thermostat
Apparently the Keurig has a safety feature that if the thermostat overheats it shuts down to prevent it catching fire
You can totally disassemble it and reset the thermostat with a paper clip, but it’s too involved for me, will probably just buy a new one
At least I now know the descale process of the Keurig by pressing the 8oz and 12 oz buttons
Did this and Descaling light came on for 5 seconds then the machine TOTALLY DIED. 🤬

Remove this video. I tried this “fix” and it killed my machine.
Moreover, the machine overheated because it had no water running through it and in doing so, tripped a temperature sensor that bricked the machine. I had to dissemble the whole unit to reset the temperature sensor.
Not only that, descale light is still on.

If you followed this and it seems to have killed your keurig like I did there is a fix. If your machine has overheated it will go completely dead. There is a great video to fix it if you are somewhat handy. Just look up; HOW TO FIX Keurig K-Supreme Plus Coffee Maker Dead NO POWER.
STOP ! this method BROKE my Keurig. I’m not blaming you, on the video, it seemed to work well for you. But when I did it, the coffee pot apparently broke as it will not power back on. It’s less than a year old. :-(

Taking the water container off did not work for me. I seen on another video to just unplug the machine. I did and it worked. Back to normal. So frustrating to pay $140 for this machine and have a flawed one and not know until 3 months later!

I have the same problem and know that I did the procedure correctly. I’m afraid of your fix so I’m just going to ignore the damn light. Doesn’t bug me anymore but other people have a problem with it. I just tlll them to ignore it, it’s a glitch, I just descaled, it’s fine.
Skipped to "the fix" and have no clue what you did. I've watched over and over a few times and still don't have a clue. You opened it, took the water container off, start pressing the power button, ect.. but have no idea what you did to get the light off. I have this exact same unit. I hate these things and its at work so its what I have. So glad i just boil my coffee on the stove when at home.
Yeah, I have the same problem as you. I figured it out though
Descale. With machine turned off, no pod in it, and water tank mostly full (add descale solution instead of water if you want) push and hold the 12oz and 8oz buttons at the same time. Hold them for 4 seconds, and the k button will flash. Put a giant mug in machine and press the flashing k button. The machine will then descale by running several cups of hot water through the machine. Just dump them out when the machine stops, and put the mug back in hit the k button again. Repeat until water tank is empty. Machine will say add water, so fill the tank back up, and continue the cycle of hitting the flashing k button and dumping out cups of hot water until the tank is empty again. Machine will then turn off, and should be fixed.
Don't stop the process until it is finished. If you get interrupted, the machine will auto turn off after 5 min of no activity and you may have to start the whole process over.
If you knew how to descale already, and just can't make the message go away, there is no shortcut. You have to do the entire decale ritual until the machine itself is satisfied that it is thoroughly cleaned and rinsed. Took me I think 20 minutes. Its a pain.
Anyway, not sure if you still need this. I spent way too long trying to figure this out so I thought I would help someone else who is in the same boat.
Someone said that after cleaning and descaling if the light continues to flash, turn the unit off, unplug it from the electrical outlet for a minute or two, then plug it back into the electrical system.

Don't remove water reservoir and run machine. It trips the thermostat and will not power on unless its reset, which entails taking off the covers. Do a ROM reset as described in the comments instead.
Didn't work on my machine. Tried exactly what's shown in the video, plus every other possible combination and permutation of buttons, adding/ removing the water well pitcher, etc. ad nauseam :(

yeah u fry the machine if u run it with the rez off ..... if u start a brew to get the descale light gone and pull the rez off ur gambling ..... do not do it that way, yes trigger the low water then pull it off and refill ... just fried mine, i descaled it 30 plus times and now i fry it guess it was time

Mines never turned back on. Throwing it in the garbage and buying a Ninja. You shouldn't have to spend money on something with a horrible flaw such as this.
You couldn't change the strength because you didn't have a pod in - you can't change the strength of water

The video was an experiment of sorts. I got tired of seeing the descale light after descaling and said I’m going to figure this out and found a fix.

Don't do this. When you remove the water tank, the heater overheats and resets. Machine is dead. I am waiting for 30 minutes but almost sure I will have to open the machine to hit the reset button then will be fine but what a mess opening this machine !!! So don't starve the heater coil OR WILL RESET and you now have a nice DEAD MACHINE! lol
Do NOT do this procedure unless you want to brick your Keurig, you will trip the temperature sensor....you've been warned.

You just need to reset the thermostat. Did that with my new Keurig and found the video how to reset on RUclips!!

This video should be removed, the procedure he recommends, broke my Keurig and many others by burning out the machine when you remove the water filter and brew. This process does not work and do not try this.

@@dadwhatsfordinner after many more failed tries my wife contacted Kuerig and low and behold a replacement is being sent out. I think a good review on customer service will be in order.
