    I’m in the same boat. Adding horsepower and still rocking a stock 28 spline c clip diff with upgraded clutches. But with a t56 magnum and a twin disk clutch I can tell she isn’t gonna last very long with how I been driving it

    After putting a serious G Force transmission in my car with a good Ram adjustable clutch and breaking the 8.8 rear gears 3 times. I got a Fabbed 9” from Quick Performance with 35 spline axles. Best 💵 I’ve spent. Been 9.80 with it no issues NA on motor. When setting up a rearend. The 9” is so much easier

    The 31 spline Explorer diff holds up really well. I set one up in my Tbird SC 12 years ago and it is still going strong. I am making 390 to 400 wheel.

    35 spline Strange Hy-Tuff axles, Spool, C-Clip eliminators and Fully Welded tubes in my street car with an Anti roll I never unhook. Been that way for years, only issue I’ve ever had was twisting a Yukon 31 spline on the street making test pulls.

    Great info brother. I have a 03' Crown Vic Police Interceptor that will be around 400ish to the rear wheels. I will definitely be doing some up grades to my 8.8. I know around 03' in the Vics is when they changed from 28 spline to 31 spline. I will find out what I have when I open it.

    I don't drag/race my car. Just upgraded my dif with the Auburn pro diff 28 spline. Then hardened axles .

    While I agree that C-clip eliminators are a good upgrade and if staying with drum brakes should definitely be done for racing. The budget way to prevent axles coming out when broken is to convert or use the disc brake versions. A broken axle is not exiting the housing with disc brakes. Am I wrong?

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  Месяц назад

      With c-clip eliminators they can’t exit either …

    😲 Wow! 31 spline axle can hold a 1,000 horse power 💪 for years? Is it in general or is there something special about the Explorer' Spline?

      @Neomustangs  Месяц назад +1

      Always raced on slicks. Had a clutch that slipped. Car wasn’t at that level much. Spent most it’s like 800 range

    Great video, Is there anyway to use the 99-04 rear disk set-up but use a 4 lug rotor? I wonder if ones made like that

  • @northwestsuburbs20
    @northwestsuburbs20 Месяц назад +1

    Needs upgraded to 35 spline axles and 9in big bearing ends should be solid then.

    Great content, rear diff takes a lot abuse, as the power increases, beefing up the engine, and trans, the rear
    diff is the weakest link in the drive line.

    If known what 8.8 4 lug options are out there that has 3.55/3.73 gears or full rear and that will fit a fox with stock length axles?
