Tip for fighting Sam: If you search the corpses of the enemies you killed earlier you can find up to 3 grenades. Once you start the fight with Sam, go to the next window to your right. This causes Sam to go to the window on his right hand side as well. Once Sam has moved he will start turning around if he doesn't see you for a while. If you stay at your original place so that Sam stays at his original place as well, he will never turn around, that's why you have to switch windows. Once Sam turns around, throw a grenade. You have to aim high above his window. (holding down left mouse button makes Tommy throw the grenade further.) Once Sam runs away, he leaves blood trails on one of the corridors leading to the staircase (if the blood trails aren't visible he is either still up there trying to kill you or you are just to close to both corridors, in that case you have to run to the opposite end of the gallery and then come back). Go down one of the corridors and Sam will jump around the corner. The best strategy here is to just prefire in front of the corner (1 Thompson magazine lasts 5 seconds). Once you deal enough damage the cut scene triggers.

Yes, he could, but in that case cops would have arrest him and sentence a death row, because they would not have listened to his story like detective in caffe did. He wanted to get away to live a life with his family.

Faces actually look less cartoony than the remake. I prefer these voices too, especially how more realistic Tommy sounds. And try to compare environment design in this scene specifically to the remake. It immediately grabbed my attention how bland the ceiling and walls are in the remade museum. You can even dodge in the original. And I prefer the script too. Hangar 13 made some completely unnecessary changes to it. Original had more words of wisdom and smart comebacks
You're a fucking idiot. The original looks horrible and completely outdated now. Take off your nostalgia glasses. The remake of Mafia 1 looks 1000x better than the original. The original just hasnt aged well and is terribly dated. Stop being a fuckimg moron....
can't believe this quality of writing from a game of 2002,Nowadays games may look like movies but no ending hits like this for me atleast in the AAA circle
It's kinda weird, you control Vito's appearance but Joe wore his normal outfit not his suit, and Tom wasn’t killed by a Lupara or Sawn-Off shotgun but a pump handle shotgun. And they drove off pretty easy compared to actual gameplay of some feds and cops.
Sam's speech here is way better than the remake. It has great music and you don't have Sam begging for his life. Tom had always had trouble shooting defenseless people and Sam had just teased him for it in 21:51. After that, as Sam made his way downstairs, upon seeing him, Tom took his time (as opposed to reflexively shooting in a tense life and death situation) and shot him in the back as he was limping away and bleeding to death. Sam then says "you did it.." in shock as he didn't expect Tom to shoot a defenseless person as he had just failed to do so upstairs. Then as soon as Sam says "Friendship ain't worth shit" in his speech, a line that was sadly missing in the remake, he gets brutally executed. All of that was in the middle of the brilliant theme playing. An extremely powerful scene that was remade to be a husk of itself. I like the remake but it shit the bed in the last two levels. What a shame.
GTA SA and this game is games that really entered my Heart Oh yeah I almost forgot, mafia 1 opening music really worked on thanks for everyone made this game
Man, I did this without visiting Yellow Pete. Thought this mission had to be done constructively with little to no bullet and health initially. What a bummer!
Jon Watson well maybe because the makers of this game decided to have him whacked by two random Guys but the creators of mafia 2 decided to make the games connected and give tommy a cameo/easter egg
Dark fire for real, like what kinda dumb shit were the feds thinking lol that’s like putting someone that hates the cold weather in the North Pole! Shit is so dumb 😂
To be honest, I think about this ALL the time, they did indeed put Tommy Angelo in the WORST possible place that a person who's hiding out from the Mob could be, I always figured that Tom probably stayed close to Greenfield, Kingston, or Sand Island most of the time and didn't dare to go across the river to Little Italy/Clemente territory,West Side/Vinci territory, or Midtown/Falcone territory, I always figured that maybe the Salieri Family was able to pay off someone in the Witness Protection Program in exchange for Tommy's whereabouts
Jesus, everything about the guns in the original is just *better* than the Remake. The shells and casings not despawning, as well as magazines. The way they sound when they fire, and the reloads are the best!!
Frank Coletti is Right, Tommy isn’t really reliable. Didn’t kill two guys got crash in the car that leads to Frank breaking the omerta and that friend of Sarah’s got warned by Tommy but she came back that leads to Salieri to what happen to Frank either
Sad to see Paulie die. I got to the end once on the game, couldn't do it again. This was a classic! Loved the PC version! Hopefully it will be a remastered set soon on PS 4 along with Mafia ll and Mafia lll. But they need to address the issue of all the glitches on Mafia lll first. Perhaps a Mafia lV by next year?
I just don't understand people that say that this is game is bad. I mean it's not comparable with today's games but considering how much details(+ story) it had 20 years ago is just bloming.
I was with 15 HP in boss fight. Then I opened previous save to come there with more HP. I came there with 10 HP and that was worse than the first one but I tried a lot of times. Finally beat it.
When I started the boss fight I had 2HP. I knew I was never gonna win so I started over and when the boss fight happened again I had a full 100HP. But this mission is a complete nightmare.
I just finished Mafia Definitive Edition and I have to say: that's the way to make remakes. The new Mafia is done honestly, consistently, you can feel that the authors enjoyed playing original Mafia. That said, seeing this video, I'm still blown away by how good this game still looks. Of course the models lack details, textures could have higher resolution and the draw distance could be further, but... for a game that is 18 years old this still holds pretty well. Besides, old or new, this is still Mafia - great sandbox game telling captivating story set in the 1930s with the atmosphere of gangster movies pouring out of the screen. We need more games like this.
I really like the Remake. Went to the Mafia 2 Remake and meh it is a great game but it came out a few months before this game it looks like crap. To the ending. I love how he talks to His family while dying. Gave me goosebumps.
@@ryanlunzen9794 I have Mafia 2 remake, I haven't played it yet because I heard it had a lot of bugs. The original Mafia 2 was cool but kinda short (to be honest so is Mafia DE, could use some side missions) so maybe someday... I still wait for Mafia 3 sale to buy it.

Ah...I remember the first time I got to this and i went straight to the gallery, only had the Colt Detective with 5 or 6 bullets, a whole lot of retries. Took me about an hour or so to finish it, not knowing i can get loaded first from Pete's
I liked the remake but it doesn't capture the same character as in the original. The new version tommy is gung ho and embraces the lifestyle without hesitation. Whereas in the original, Tom was always having second thoughts throughout the story. Showing his conscience conflicting so much more with his actions and path. You don't see that in the new version. And they made Paulie out to be a like able dumb goofball and a dickhead bully to Ralph. Not an experienced gangster that makes questionable choices. They made Sam in the new one out to be a fink out of convenience and sold him out after asking him to break contract to save his favorite prostitute and cowardice rather than a self righteous omerta prick like in the original, scolding Tommy for all his choices which didn't involve Sam asking him to go against orders.

Comparing the two sam’s in both games, I think this Sam seemed more villainous, in the original than the other Sam in the remaster. I’m not saying the new Sam was not villainous enough I think he came off differently
What a great game that really was.. just binge watched it again here in lockdown. Be watching number 2 now reminisce playing that too. Good play through there btw very pro
As much as people keep whining about the remake, one thing the remake does better in my opinion is Tommy's reaction, in the original he looked surprised, wherein the remake he looks more accepting of his fate
Mafia games are more like movie rather than a game itself. If the first game is remastered with today's graphics and mechanics, that would be awesome.
Totally igree. I can't ever imagine how amazing would be the gameplay, city, autodrome, characters and countryside today plus free roaming mechanics..

This is a classic game, but the graphics, voice actors and sound effects are so hilarious now. I’m happy 2k made the Definitive Edition.
Mihailo Pisanjuk you must be joking lmao
You're a fucking idiot. The original looks horrible and completely outdated now. Take off your nostalgia glasses. The remake of Mafia 1 looks 1000x better than the original. The original just hasnt aged well and is terribly dated. Stop being a fuckimg moron....
@ shut up kevin
@big papi going kinda too far saying that a whole generation is stupid karen.
9:49 this was like Max Payne and the matrix all over again cool moment
can't believe this quality of writing from a game of 2002,Nowadays games may look like movies but no ending hits like this for me atleast in the AAA circle
Ahhhhhh memories.....I remember as a kid i watched my older brother playing this.I was so sad for this ending....
i will never forget this game :) it will always be my favorite no matter what

That wasn't them
Just finish this game recently. Worth it.
Please remaster this...brings more memories here 😭 Tommy,Sam,Paulie here
27:09 vito and joe
Dan Jones That was them?
Phenotime yeah
It's kinda weird, you control Vito's appearance but Joe wore his normal outfit not his suit, and Tom wasn’t killed by a Lupara or Sawn-Off shotgun but a pump handle shotgun. And they drove off pretty easy compared to actual gameplay of some feds and cops.
Phenotime yeah its them...you can see them on Mafia II chapter 14
Best game ever for an action game. The storyline is excellent
@Zeige Krieg Paulie and Tom were Scammed in both games and I don't see how they were blinded by their own ambition.
@@Cyrus_II they scammed themselves by breaking the omerta
yes, it Amber Heard'ed the bed in the last two levels
22:39 best scene ever
this game's graphics is like 2005 but this game was launched in 2001 . Big up to Mafia team
They dont make games like this no more..
GTA SA and this game is games that really entered my Heart
Oh yeah I almost forgot, mafia 1 opening music really worked on
thanks for everyone made this game
i never got it why he responded to angelo when those men showed up, since he hadnt used the name for years
Joe and vito had a picture of him and they know he would lie if he didn't respond to them as tommy angelo. At the point he was a dead man
@Anthony Lucero what no that's real Joe even says that in the Mission in mafia 2 idiot
Man, I did this without visiting Yellow Pete. Thought this mission had to be done constructively with little to no bullet and health initially.
What a bummer!
The Paulie scene is way better in the definitive edition & not just cause of the graphics
More emotional
Facts my nigga...this is kinda cringe 😬
@@sbj97 ong bro, I only came here to see the differences in dialogue
there are cracks me up, to see the ending cuz Joe never wore anything remotely like that
Jon Watson well maybe because the makers of this game decided to have him whacked by two random
Guys but the creators of mafia 2 decided to make the games connected and give tommy a cameo/easter egg
I just believe in the new remastered...
* crying *
Just believe...
It's 2019 and I can't forget this amazing game ♥️♥️
27:10 ~ an Early Version of Vito Scarletta and Joe Barbaro
After playing mafia 2 you need to think, what were they thinking of putting Tom in empire bay......a city with a huge mafia presence 🙄🤦🏻♂️😂
Ikr? Frank Vinci and carlo falcone and Clemente, they're all worse than salieri.
Dark fire for real, like what kinda dumb shit were the feds thinking lol that’s like putting someone that hates the cold weather in the North Pole! Shit is so dumb 😂
@@Godfather9814 feds didn’t give a shit bro, they were tired of watching over him anyway.
Are saying that Tommy is alive in Mafia II?
To be honest, I think about this ALL the time, they did indeed put Tommy Angelo in the WORST possible place that a person who's hiding out from the Mob could be, I always figured that Tom probably stayed close to Greenfield, Kingston, or Sand Island most of the time and didn't dare to go across the river to Little Italy/Clemente territory,West Side/Vinci territory, or Midtown/Falcone territory, I always figured that maybe the Salieri Family was able to pay off someone in the Witness Protection Program in exchange for Tommy's whereabouts
the best game plot ever for me.
Played the definitive edition and it was amazing. 10/10 I shed tears in this game. Life has been a roller coaster. This like a top 10 game all time
Jesus, everything about the guns in the original is just *better* than the Remake. The shells and casings not despawning, as well as magazines. The way they sound when they fire, and the reloads are the best!!
Pause at 22:33, You can see Sam running in the background.
Loyalguardian6000 oh wow lol
*Friendship ain't worth shit*
Considering what happends with Mafia 2 and 3 this quote is wrong and right at times...
Having just finished the remaster it's suprising that the final map layout is almost unchanged
I love how he casually says Paulies dead
hell no..one of the best games good old memories..i was playing dat shit before many years :)
6:15 u can lost cops simply enter to gallery.
I think that this ending is better than the remastered one. The dialogue is better here, too
haha no
@@jordycomic144 Haha yes

I just don't understand people that say that this is game is bad. I mean it's not comparable with today's games but considering how much details(+ story) it had 20 years ago is just bloming.
Ceiling is actually more detailed here than in the remake wtf
Hell no you can’t really compare the graphics of a 20 year old game compared to now lmao!
@@TipppedScales1015 I just did ;P
But seriously, in several aspects (including some graphic portions) City of Lost Heaven is better.

It took 3 games to get Vito and Joe to waste Tommy
For being such an old game it still looks amazing inside the gallery
Wonder if the upcoming remake will capture the emotion like the original did
It really does. The ending is even better.
I would say, compared to what I’ve seen of the original, the remake is a major improvement in just about every way.
It looks strange without dramatic mafia music
Darn you Agent Harris from The Sopranos!
The best story!! I have played all the gta games but mafia was quite different and better too👍👍
I came to this boss fight with 4HP he one shots me lol.
I can understand! I went with 10hp and it was a pain to even peek.
just wait for him to look somewhere else
Just finished this going in with 19hp. Took me about hand an hour
Dialogue is more sophisticated in the original and this makes it the better game, in my opinion.
Sam to Tom: You're too human.
good lord, this is SOOO much better than the remake in terms of writing dialogue and the voice acting. the OST is extremely memorable
*Oblivion dialogue music plays in the background*
I remember how I tried to kill Sam with 50 hp left. Final mission was the 2nd most hellish mission in M1.
@@melomonster007 I got the trylogy for 45€. I needed 14h to play the Main Story. So it's ok. A Bit longer than Part 1.
I had some bugs yh but mostly funny ones. Glitching Heads. Flying characters but I wouldn't say it's too bugy.
There is no mafia 2 remake, there's mafia 2 remaster
@@rlfpotatoking9253 yep the horrible remaster
story is fantastic.....Tommy and Paulie and Sam and Saliri and Frank,,,
Okay i watch the end of mafia 1 100 times and i see that Sam is actually regret when he saying You you did it
The music adds right set of tone to the experience. Here it is removed because of the damn copyright crap.
Sounds in this game and graphics are still awesome. It is pleasure to hear gun reloading etc :O
Sam wears that tux in the entire 2002 game. In the remake they put him in it for the last mission. Small nod to the original.
Ah...I remember the first time I got to this and i went straight to the gallery, only had the Colt Detective with 5 or 6 bullets, a whole lot of retries. Took me about an hour or so to finish it, not knowing i can get loaded first from Pete's
@kingdom child It do be like that.
Loved the game, will try to get it again
I liked the remake but it doesn't capture the same character as in the original. The new version tommy is gung ho and embraces the lifestyle without hesitation. Whereas in the original, Tom was always having second thoughts throughout the story. Showing his conscience conflicting so much more with his actions and path. You don't see that in the new version. And they made Paulie out to be a like able dumb goofball and a dickhead bully to Ralph. Not an experienced gangster that makes questionable choices. They made Sam in the new one out to be a fink out of convenience and sold him out after asking him to break contract to save his favorite prostitute and cowardice rather than a self righteous omerta prick like in the original, scolding Tommy for all his choices which didn't involve Sam asking him to go against orders.
my first pc game.... this game remains my childhood feels...the time where i can not go...
Who's here after Mafia 1 remake?
Me
I'm glad you cut the ending credits music off, it really killed the feel of the game.
Goddammit. That music! Gives me tingles in my balls every time I hear it.
on rare occasions me and a good friend of mine have a whiskey, a cigar and listen to the main theme, and the entire soundtrack in general.
the music was so unique and related to the mood of the game itself.
made by composer Vladimir Shimunek.
The life of a mafia is like hell on the earth.
0:22 rip paulie
Ready to cry again in 4k ?:)
"We'll cry together at the funeral"
-Sam

Comparing the two sam’s in both games, I think this Sam seemed more villainous, in the original than the other Sam in the remaster. I’m not saying the new Sam was not villainous enough I think he came off differently
What a great game that really was.. just binge watched it again here in lockdown. Be watching number 2 now reminisce playing that too. Good play through there btw very pro
Would be better if Tom said “This is for Paulie” before he killed Sam.
Happy Father’s Day tom
As much as people keep whining about the remake, one thing the remake does better in my opinion is Tommy's reaction, in the original he looked surprised, wherein the remake he looks more accepting of his fate
Remake ending is more of a Hollywood movie and it kinda doesn't make sense, original one is more realistic and sad
@@justsawo483 🤓
Because Tom has died twice before remake, he already knew his fate when Vito and Joe showed again.
