Not gonna lie as a kid playing this when it first came out I cried when Paulie got whacked that’s how good of a story this game told.
This story was The Godfather of video games for real.
Actually finding out that Joe Barbaro was the one who killed Tommy Angelo with Vito as the "messenger" in Mafia 2 is what inspired me to play Mafia1 to learn Tommy's backstory

That single line made Tommy so pissed off that he wanted to make sure Sam is dead! As you can see it in Tommy's eyes, he felt such pity for his friend Frank just after he realized that he's dead and then remembering what Frank told him in the car "In the end your BEST FRIEND KILLS YOU"... Just like he just did to Sam who also killed Paulie. Also the Don Killing his friend Frank and later on killing Tommy... This game is a pure masterpiece!
The Don is coward!! He never killed any of them, only sent mercenaries.

Sam has a very similar voice to the Czech version, but Tom has a much deeper voice in the Czech version, strange to hear him with this voice, sounds like a different person altogether! ruclips.net/video/9X_g99gTMog/видео.html

@@MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive I agree. After I saw the Final of Remake, I watched the original. And like you said, the original monologue is a lot better, because of this lesson about balance.
The ending gives me goosebumps every time , it's something that the remake lost . They should have retained most of the dialogue and the ending cutscene monologue from the original .

The remake monologue was cliché and bad, like Vávra said: this was something someone would said when they were drunk and full of sorrow "ohh family is the most important and its forever"
@@calangoraivoso9921 IMO, the remakes ending speech wasn’t bad, but we’ve heard the “family is forever” speech so much that it’s pretty cliche by this point.
While I think the remake pretty much improved on everything, I do agree that they should of kept the originals final speech
@@calangoraivoso9921 the original ending in my opinion was philosophic, I mean not just in my opinion, at points in the story Tommy discusses things from a philosophical point of view.
The musics missing too from the original smh
The monologue at the end felt more human than the remakes monologue making it seem like it wasn't a story about the life of a normal taxi driver turned gangster it doesn't fit in any gangster story but the OG monologue fits perfectly with a gangster story like the Mafia trilogy

Paulie's tragedy is even worse when in the previous mission he was talking to tom about wanting to quit the mob life so he can start a family just like tom and live te rest of his years in peace.
Unfortunately, both Tom and Paulie's fate was decided after the mission (moonlighting)
I did prefer how it wasn't Frank and his gambling habits that gave Tommy away, but instead Sarah's friend being dumb enough to visit town again.
Also the final message more about life and keeping balance, rather than the usual family stuff.
Yeah I gotta admit I like Mafia:The City Of Lost Heaven's ending better than the ending of Mafia:The Definitive Edition, I like the idea of Tommy being completely alone when He's killed, I always assumed that Sarah and His Daughter were out shopping when it happened Lol
I love the intensity and the entrance of mafia theme when sam gets shot
Funnily enough, i always felt much more sorry about Paulie than about Tommy. Tom went away pretty easy with this, and at least he had some time to live in peace with his family. Besides, Paulie overall was the funniest of our gang.
And of course its tragic how this whole story turned out. Its was all so smooth up until one wrong decision Tom and Paulie made. One mistake - and its all over in a matter of hours.

If they do not rob the Bank, on that same week Paulie and Sam would killed Tommy becouse at that moment Michelle come back to the city and they would realize that Tom LIE about Michelle and Frank. Tom was the traitor always.
I love storylines this good
specially since when I first finished it I was like 14 or something so I didn't fully understand how good it was
then I finished it for a second time at 18 and it blew my mind, and even as I got older during mid 20's and late 20's it blows my mind even more because I understand the philosophical view of the story and how hard the story hits.
Hell yeah brother, I finished this shit when I was like 8 years old and I was blown away and impressed by how ahead of it’s fucking time this masterpiece was.
Both stories have their strengths and weaknesses in this version Sam comes across as a real bastard. Not only does he not care about Wacking Tommy who saved his life multiple times but he helped killed Paulie lord knows how long they were friends. I would take this over the DE version but at least they tried humanizing Sam

I kinda wish Hanger 13 would put the roll mechanic in the remake....in the original, it looks authentic as hell
One thing I've noticed watching other videos of this same epilogue on RUclips is that in many of them both the detective and Tom have 3d modeled eyeballs, and they actually move them! I wonder if they're using mods or that's how they're supposed to be and the mods you and me are using somehow break that effect?
Yeah is intentional, however only this work in 1.0, in 1.1 and 1.2 steam version this efect is no present

- Ordinary Routine -> Motel
- Omerta -> in front of the Art Gallery while asking Little Tony about Frank’s whereabouts
- Bon Appetit -> behind Pepes Restaurant
- Election Campaign -> Old Prison yard
- Death of Art -> Car dealership in Chinatown
Up to this point, nobody noticed there’s a final dog in the Epilogue before the game finally ends. So if you check the chapters where dogs are found, including the final one in the Epilogue, you can calculate how many dogs you find in total.

its sadder and sam has more emotion of him actually being sad in killing tommy, while in the first one it was like sam didnt care and was being sarcastic when he told the boys to take care of tommy, also the death of tommy is much more sadder in mafia definitive edition

a sad ending
Tommy Angelo's death was really sad tbh.
Tommy: It's over Sam! I've got the high ground. XD But seriously the ending in OG Mafia is much better than in remake. Monologue is much deeper and make more sense to whole story. And of course great music. Remake has better songs in the radio but score is cheap compared to Mafia 2002.

Even it's same idea that crossed my mind why send him somewhere where are 3 mob families,back in 1938,but back then, they didn't know much about mob families and their activities until 1957,fun fact don Vinci is good friend of don Salieri,you can read about it in Mafia 2 album section,so it don't make sense that Vito and Joe was sended with regards from don Salieri when they are from Falcone family, but since Mafia 2 story was cut,it would make more sense if Vito and Joe was working for Vinci,but it's nice easter egg and connection and another fun fact,killing Tommy by Vito and Joe wasn't Dan Vávra idea either.
"You're too Human" because Tommy was only valuable to them as long as he was a psychopath, just like you have to be in every other Mafia game

It would be way easier to run into this mission with a Thompson and a colt but i did the mission only with a colt Special with 6 bullets. 😂

I played the Definitive version as well, and i was disappointed on two things: first, the game's theme did not play when Sam had his final speech or when he was shot, and the fact that no blood dropped on the money in the final scene of the gallery, which was so satisfying to watch in the original and i always thought it sent a very strong message. The original did many things better than the remake, but i'm still gonna enjoy both games the same

I thought it could’ve been because the original mafia game was very standalone. And maybe it was set in 1957. Instead of 1951. It would make sense there.

Also the story of Mafia definitive edition could’ve been about the origins of the three families of gta 3 liberty city. And how they rose from being mobsters of one crime family and then two rivaling family to three families there. And how they can connect the crime world games into one like crazy. Imagine had we got a gta universe with all the gta games, mafia games. Saints row games into one universe. That would be lit.

Using mods at all is risky business. Check how you loaded them and compare it to the installation instructions provided by the mod creators.

Wtf were they on when they made this mission? At least there's one save point just before the final showdown but I must say it is not an enjoyable experience with one single health point.
Moreover, why can Sam take so many direct bullet impacts? Why didn't Salieri put Sam's immortality to use during the story?
And why do enemies instantly reload when they get shot?
I've enjoyed this game but it really shows its age in parts and I look forward to trying the Definitive Edition at some point.
There's a med kit by the rear stairs on the top floor that gives 50hp. It's more than doable. You could also go back to the previous save point and play better, so that you aren't starting this section with 1hp. I had to do that once during the hotel mission.

I think you're right. Tom's dialogue to Sam is terrible. It's so painfully to the point and factual. Sam's was ok, I prefer his character in this to the remake. The remake makes him seem like a weasely little slimeball that's only doing it because he has to. In the original, he doesn't come off as if fear is his only motivating factor. He's malicious and perfectly willing to kill his friends to advance himself, not just because he was told to and he's perfectly at peace with it.

Having seen it here, VA part is quite fine with some better and worse parts. As a Czech, I had the luxury to play our dub, and that one is amazing(and the Polish one, less bassy and clinical, just as well done, some say even more so, the Czech one is a bit more nasal, but atleast you really are in the character´s "face") The casting alone is also somewhat better at baseline, no matter the acting itself. Take a listen to the beggining, Frank and Salieri talking, Ralf stammering, Paulie and Sam being the naive but "set" fool and the "play it nice and safe" snake respectively. It is immensely well done. Just the quality of the sound, then the acting is enough to see the difference, even if you speak Zulu, or Chinese. Those two dubs stand up to the notion of "really watching that acclaimed original".
The physicality alone, then the more removed undertones, the intonation, both are significantly higher level, and all across the board that homogenously high during the whole play time. It sounds sick as the little different parts that always are good standlone play together within the entire length. As finely as the game eventually plays out with the English one, the emotion and story play shocks of the CZ and PL dubs are "shocking" aswell in a good way. When they come for you to beat you up (and kill you) for saving Paulie and Sam, the difference is extremely stark in its impact. it IMO goes from 8 overall to 9.3 on the Holy f scale.
Good Game, but Wtf were they thinking with this mission!? This is by far the worst mission at least in the OG game. They put you in such a terrible spot in the beginning, the Sam boss was complete bullshit, not to mention the enemies are absolute tanks and can take 10 revolver shots across the halls, I have tried and tried with this game, its good dont get me wrong, but goddamn the gunplay in this game is dogshit, its too bad the story was good though, I just un-installed the game and im ready to play the remake, which will have way better gunplay. I am not playing a game that I dont have fun with. That Sam boss killed it, and I can't believe people call this game a "masterpiece". When Mafia 2 completely Curb stomps it in every single way.
third video where i see 3:14 u go in and get some weapons. to me he says "get away from here" trying to do this mission half a day...... have 6 bullets.. impossible to do the mission without weapon. if this the case.. thanks Czech bastards for waste my time and i delete this game :)
