- Hey guys, since quitting League I've been playing lots of SSBM. I love the game and I love the community, so I decided I'd come back from the dead and see if I can make good content again. I live in Virginia and travel to various Smash tournaments, so I figured a Power Rankings montage for my region would be a great start. Hopefully even if you've never played or watched Smash, you can enjoy this video. If you're from the Smash community and this is your first time hearing my name, welcome to my channel!

Cmon, don't dislike the video just because it's not League content :(. I quit League, I simply don't have the time nor interest in playing it. I played League from age 14-~19, it was basically my entire teenage life. Sometimes people move on to other things. Smash is an amazing game that allows me to create content again.

Shake you can't expect people not to downvote this, I, along with many others got used to your kickass league content, I barely play league, but watching a montage of yours, was always a pleasure.
Hope you continue to have similar fun with league, though I doubt you make a montage of smash sync so well to music as you did with league :P

I know smash layouts are cluttered and youre trying to cut down on that, but at times it's just a little too much zoom.
+Erik Seastead Fair point. Tried my best to find a balance. Like you said, since the game is 4:3 aspect ratio, you have to make compromises between stream layout clutter and gameplay. I used papapaint's last year PR video as inspiration, he also used lots of zoom (though probably better than I did).
when you're zoomed in, the location of the frame just gets much hardere since often things are moving in and out of frame, or focal points are moving around unless you place it well. That makes it look weird but it isn't obvious why.
I really like how gravitating a game that Melee is for anyone who's ever been competitive. A lot of people who enjoy/enjoyed League, Halo, Starcraft, etc can see the depth and beauty of this game. Stoked to see some Smash content from you man! Great song choice as well, Nujabes is a legend.

Shake, I'm a big fan of yours since the beginning of the league content, you teached to play Lee Sin the proper way, and had a lot of fun watching your videos, I feel nostalgic now recalling all of those moments, but since your first melee video I was expecting more. I never played Melee competitively but was a beast among my friends and I really enjoyed that montage. I quit league a long time ago but even if I didn't I would totally support your passion for Melee of literally anything as I do right now. I respect you for giving me the most fun I have had in the videogame world, keep it going Shake ;)

It's a little hard to see this man. Like, you're the reason I play Lee Sin. Watching your montages is always so inspiring. I definitely respect your decision, but I'll always hope you'll come back to League.

Interesting vid, especially compared to the Central Florida PR vid; I'm a huge fan of the pace and the gorgeous aesthetic of the florida vid, but I know it definitely requires way more time and effort to create and extends the length of the vid significantly to add all the flourishes you had in there.
I think the slower music and pace of this one was more efficient at accomplishing the goal of representing the players moreso than your editing, but fuck dude I've watched your Florida PR vid like 10 times in the past 2-3 days. Not exaggerating. Easily top 2-3 best made Melee highlights of all time.
Keep it up my dude.
P.S. I didn't pay attention to the dates either of these vids were uploaded, just commenting on the differences between them based on which ones I've seen

Yo Shake, work on making the names more clearly tied to the players in the clips! Almost every clip, I find myself searching the screen to find out what player I am watching. Loving the vids! Keep it up.
I feel like chudat should be higher just based on major tournament placings. Great video though!
+Kentogamers I assume they don't include out of region stuff cause in that case both Chillin and Chu do better than everyone above them. Granted, Redd deserves that #1 for sure.
Hey man. Idk what I subscribed to you for (long ago, prolly lee montages), but now that I watched the video I might as well leave some criticism:
- As others mentioned, the framing is quite off. I can understand trying to clip streaming layouts, but it just doesn't work if you clip them only partly. The viewer immediately sees "hey, there is something else there which I can't see", like only including one of the players. What's especially setting off is changing the zoom mid-clip imo, which became especially apparent when you zoomed on the initial % of some Falco earlier in the vid before he seemingly 100-0ed.
- Another point is not always knowing which player you are showing footage off. I recognize that you tried mixing the tags' positions but at least show them for the entirety of the player's footage and not randomly for a few seconds duing one of the multiple clips. And if you are going to show the tags the entire time, it might be better to just not mix up their positioning in order to be less confusing.

The way PR works is whoever gets the better results at that specific areas locals within a specific amount of time gets ranked higher, so chu either didn't go to any locals or didn't do as well as redd

i thought when u wrote DoH it was an editing mistake bcuz of the font and u put doll again
Pretty silly mistake on my part. I changed the font only for DoH because the other font I was using didn't differentiate between lower-case letters, but it ended up looking up like Doll again. Which is funny considering lloD is Doll backwards. DOLL IS EVERYWHERE.

I think chudat should be number 1, 7th at evo and good placing in general totally should beat out redd, a person who has never gotten top 8 at any medium to large tournament
This a 2016 Spring Power Ranking, Chudat making top 8 and EVO is old news and can't count on the current PR

PEak means nothing in a PR. PR is only based on results in a selected time period and nothing else, and majority of the results are taken from locals between the players themselves

+SkaterLauro Not according to the PR panel. Though it's important to note that they rate regional power rankings by performance at regional tournaments, not nationals. Chu goes ham at nationals but not really at locals.
