I really appreciate how you presented this list. I absolutely hate when people just act like something is the worst thing in existence instead of just talking about how something was a disappointment or let down to themselves.
Thanks so much! I agree and really appreciate you saying that. I was back and forth on doing this video for that reason, so I am glad it didn't come across that way.
@@5POAFigureReviews you did well. Honestly there have been so many videos over the years that I’ve had to stop watching because of the way they frame their narrative has bothered me. It’s one thing to make a statement such as “what I look for in the figures I collect is a mix of representation, engineering, quality, etc.” and it’s a whole other thing to be like “this figure is garbage that should’ve never been made, boycott the company for having even made it”.
@@uphilliceskater yeah I know, and when I’m watching a video and see someone talking like that, I just click do not recommend and block their accounts.
lol very true, but my thought it that putting a video out there would be helpful for raising awareness that the Select exists for collectors who never heard of it. It was a store exclusive, so isn't as widely as widely known as the 90s one.
Thanks for the video 5POA. Lately, a WORST action figure of the year list is often clickbait for our community, I love the fact YOUR version was filled with so much positive material.
@@5POAFigureReviews we are all guilty of it brother. I try to avoid, but you don't see too many train wrecks or lions fighting alligators in real life. Ahahahahaha.
9:11 (oh, that’s a convenient time mark) the body is from the colossus from the apocalypse wave (if I’m not mistaken), the one with the beard and more modern costume
9:13 That age of apocalypse AOA Sabertooth is not on the Omega Red body.. it’s a brand new sculpt for him.. VENOM is on the omega red body which has butterfly joints and is significantly smaller than AOA Sabertooth.
My worst of the year is the X-Men “Cel-Shaded” line that doesn’t actually use cel shading. Not only did it stink, it ruined any chance of getting a well-done 1/12th scale cartoon line. Maybe NECA can swoop in and make it. Diamond Select makes some incredible X-Men animated busts and I hoped the Hasbro designs would be similar.
Yeah some of those are really rough, especially Jean and Mystique. I've been fighting the temptation to hop on the "get Cyclops and remove the paint" bandwagon, but I expect we'll get him soon enough without it. They didn't pay for that new tooling for nothing after all.
Nice explanation of why you were disappointed in the ones on your list. One of the worst on my list is the Wakanda Forever Attuma BAF, the waist on my copy doesn't stay pegged in.
Another knock on Jonathan Kent is the glued bicep swivels. Shame I actually like the figure but it's amazing how much that articulation gaff kills any enjoyment.
That Catwoman has been periodically showing up at my local Ross for several years now. Grabbed her for $5, might use her for a custom if I can think of a character to work those parts into.
They should’ve given the what if red skull alternate hands like gun holding hands so you can give him a gun to hold and I would’ve customize that what if red skull into V9, V10, or V11 iron grenadiers from G.I. Joe.
great vid and agree those are all pretty worthy of a 10 top I probably would've maybe added super7 Andre the giant, loyal subjects bebop and rocksteady
@@5POAFigureReviews the super7 bebop and rocksteady are pretty good the bst axn loyal subjects bebop and rocksteady are terrible lol. Super7 ones are just expensive haha
Get rid of the ball joints. They are ugly. Side eye 😒 meh. I like it on some alternate head sculpts. No more yellow mustard gold please. More caped figures and give us what we want. 😢❤🎉😂😊
I would love to but unfortunately I don't collect enough Turtles to make an informed list. I did get the two Street Fighter sets and the Universal Monsters, though. I'd like to explore more with Turtles this year.
I don’t like negative talk; so, surprised I click on this video… hahaha… But I do agree with many of your opinions. But I do wonder about the toymakers. Is it all about the budget? Some of these seem like easy fixes for the casual users. Do these people actually like playing with toys or this is just a job for them - especially the designers/engineers? Hmmmm…?
Thanks Brian! Glad you enjoyed it. That's a great question, and I don't know that there is an easy answer. I am sure that there are those who just treat it like a job. And we also don't know a lot of what goes on behind the scenes, as far as what the toy makers want versus what the finance department expects, or even the licencers for that matter. But I do agree that a lot of these are bafflingly simple fixes.
@@5POAFigureReviews I bought it last December. Then I bought another one the Dark Detective the one with no jacket. Im new in collecting action figures
I bought Jon Kent loose on Ebay (mainly to do some kitbash stuff) and i'm glad I got it used/loose cause I wouldn't have paid more than $15 for a new one. That head/face is more fitting for the Superboy Prime figure and vice versa.
Im the same way as far as buying figures. Thats why I dont like BAFs. I dont buy if i dont like and i really didnt want the figs in the Plastic man wave but i was surprised by Aquaman. He is super flexible
@@5POAFigureReviews Jungle Hunter Predator is the only figure I've bought another company's figure right after and gave away the first one. I bought a Hiya Toys AVP Celtic predator and it's my favorite figure of the year from any company.

The "I don't like to be negative" interjections had me rolling! Great work Jason!
lol thanks Jon. I enjoyed that too
Would we really need a versus on that Sabretooth? Because.. I mean, the Legends' look alone speaks for itself. XP

I see that little sneaky mafex batman in the background. Are you going to review him?

Lot of little frustrations throughout, sadly.
Sabretooth is not on the Omega Red body mold it uses the colossus mold

I said the same thing about his hands in my review of him, but it never even occurred to the awesome potential for G.I. Joe weapons. Great idea!
Mikey and Leo look like they just ate Donny and Raph
Hahahaha yes they do
It’s been a lot of pizza Spider-Man body mode that been Reused
The old Toybiz Sabretooth is still great.
Versus of sabretooths please
I love my Jonathan Kent Superman. But he should have an alternate cape version and a pretty boy head sculpt.
Hopefully we get a Gold Label alternate version at some point that's a bit closer to the comic.
I don't know the Jonathan Kent Superman so can't comment on the likeness but if it was paler I can see that as a Sandman head.
That is a fantastic idea! Great observation

The johnathan Kent S looks like raw clay
If you think that S looks like raw clay, just take a look at the Blackest Night Superman's. Yikes.
You can add this to the list The Batman Bruce Wayne Drifter Unmasked and The Batman Unmasked Variant
Yeah, had I gotten those the Drifter at least probably would have been on the list just for the head and paint job.

That Batgirl was Definitely one the worst!!
Sad given that Barbara is my favorite female comic character
I subbed to your dad
I'll tell him he needs to start making content ha
McFarlane seems to want to make all of their characters edgy and grim.
the superman figer isnt a bad figer for stop motion or as a toy it self not bad for kids but as a teen or adult not a great figer to displayed with
I haven't tried stop motion, but I could see it being good for that

My top 5 worst figures are #5 DKR Armored Batman. #4 Injustice 2 Flash. #3 Jazwares Halo Infinite Hyperius. #2 Gotham Knights Batgirl. #1 Lanard Jungle Hunter Predator.
