Of all the laptops available today, this one ticks all my boxes. Too bad Asus customer service is destroying all the fine work their engineers are putting in. I don't want to spend this much money on a product and fear everyday that if something goes wrong, i just have an expensive paper weight.

Would love some feedback on making a decision! I recently purchased and returned a Blade 15 and pre-ordered a zenbook pro 14, probably a few weeks away from getting shipped out. I had always wanted a razer because of their aesthetic, but decided I wanted something smaller and was concerned w/ Razer support as a brand. I currently have a Alienware 13 R3 (love the OLED screen on it and support / same goes for my wifes HP) and was originally looking for the portable laptop w/ the following:
    - RTX 4070 or above.
    - Macbookesque build quality and uni-body design, but in black or a dark color
    - Backlit keyboard, color is nice but not a deal breaker
    - Dual m.2 slots (none of the "finalists" have this due to size) and can fit a 4tb gen 4 ssd
    - Minimum 32gb RAM capable
    - 14" 2k+ display preferable w/ pen support on a flat surface if possible
    - 8-10 hour of battery life (some design work, can have 10+ chrome tabs open, check emails, etc.)
I've been in the Architecture profession for 12 years and also game, do graphic design, 3D modeling, some rendering and narrowed it down to the following:
    - 13.4" 2023 Rog flow x13 with AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS - Can't find for sale
    - 14" 2023 Blade 14 with AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS - $2750 (5% teacher discount through razer and 10% retailmenot cash back chrome plugin)
    -14.5" 2023 Zenbook Pro 14 with Gen 13 Intel Core i9-13900H - $2600 ($25 off from xoticpc)
I plan on upgrading the Ram to 32gb ($100) and SSD to a gen4 WD_Black 4tb m.2 drive ($300 + $30 enclosure)immediately, while also adding Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste ($15). Prices above include rough costs of upgrades, tax, and any discounts/cash back rewards in USD. I hate the G14 in white so that isn't an option. I would have loved to get a z book, but their hardware is always a generation behind. Original plan was to keep the budget after all costs under 2.4k, but stretching it a bit isn't the end of the world.

    • @TheOldSchoolCrisis
      @TheOldSchoolCrisis 11 месяцев назад

@@Havanu81 The X13 is probably a better comparison due to the size and top end spec. Basically has parity with the Zen 14 in terms of performance but in a 13" 2 in 1 form factor. You lose out on the OLED display and Thunderbolt support (Since it uses an AMD processor) but if size is of concern I would HIGHLY recommend it. In fact, I just purchased one for myself last week to use as my daily driver! Also while you do loose out on the Thunderbolt port, it does have a USB-C 4.0. (Functionally no different in 99% of use cases)
I will say though unfortunately if you live and die by a good stylus, while the Pen2 works fine, the digitizer in ALL of Asus' laptops is pretty lack luster. So while I am personally VERY happy with my X13 I can say that someone who needs a professional quality pen for drawing should probably just wait for the Surface Laptop Studio 2 (rumored to be releasing this fall.) That isn't to say that you can't work around the Stylus and produce amazing stuff, just that unfortunately there is a fair bit of wobble when trying to draw diagonal lines.

The base configuration is with integrated graphics - Iris Xe graphics are a very poor choice for Creators as it will struggle with any video editing... for integrated graphics I would go with the 7840U with 780M RNDA3 graphics from AMD coming out on the new Acer Swift Edge in July, if you can wait. Also with integrated graphics and video editing 32GB RAM is recommended as your system memory is used as VRAM.

8GB VRam For Creators lol. This needed to be 360 screen design with pen support. 600 nits is not bright enough for dark scenes hdr. There should be 2 2.5gb lan ports at least. Desktop gpu support should be added. I wish Samsung, lg, any other oled manufacturers come out with at least 1100 nits full brightness qdoled or whatever oled panels for laptop for proper hdr, hdr10 plus, dolby vision content production and viewing.

This would be a great laptop if you could actually buy it, I am not sure why lap top companies (ASUS and Lenovo in particular) keep advertising new models with confusing model names and they are not ready for delivery .....I think, I will stay with Apple ecosystem, I think they got their act together, also, I don't think this laptop qualifies as slim, it is chunky
