Been waiting for this since the Livestream debut! Thank you so much for the review Lon!
Love this laptop, thanks very much for the review lon
Nice review as always; very impressive performance as well. I actually watched this on an OLED screen, my duet 5 has one, and yes that screen is very impressive, a;though I don't think it's 4K.
Your reviews are awesome! I want this laptop so much, but I might want the smaller Asus a bit more because I do need to carry it often...
Lon!..Thanks Much !.......
Can you make the trackpad a numbpad?
The top lid logo looks curiously like the Starfleet emblem
Cool video, thanks ! Is the zenbook pro 14 faster than the Macbook pro M3 for 4K video exports in davinci / premiere ?
Please answer my question: which is generally better to the eye looking and more gorgeous regarding colors, accuracy and more beautiful to the eye looking :
the zenbook pro 14 or slim pro 9i
Zenbook : oled,120hz, FHD 2880*1800 , 550 nits
Lonovo: mini-LED,165hz, 4K 3072*1920 , 1200 nits
Would you please review the Asus K5504VA-DS51 from staples for $630?
Ubuntu comes with an older kernel and dosen't support the new hardware yet, but it should work with Fedora.
Super nice review! Would absolutely love to see you review the 14" Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, also with the 4070. Maybe a comparison between these two devices would be absolutely amazing. It's a really hard choice I find :)
The Yoga Pro 9i isn't available in North America. What we have is called the Slim Pro 9i, and the 14" is only available with a 4050 and an i7.
I don't live in North America :D

Soldered RAM it's unupgradable, the SSD can be expanded but it's only a single slot so no bueno.
I had to run mine in "Full Speed Mode" to match your Time Spy scores and the fan is too loud to run that way if you're gaming.
Lon, just so you know, there seems to be an issue with RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 GPUs that are advertised with high power ratings. In many cases, due to a voltage limit, these GPUs are regularly incapable of drawing more than 100W. There's a video by Jarrod's Tech (full disclosure, I am a Patreon supporter of his) where he does some more detailed testing. This is likely why the 4060 in your Legion test laptop is only scoring marginally higher than the 4070 in this one when by any right it should be noticeably faster.
There's an issue with you gamer! Did you know that high quality grown adults don't game?
@@PKperformanceEU Don't be a dick. Power usage is actually just as important if you work with Unity or Unreal Engine professionally and any realtime 3D suite actually.
@@PKperformanceEUlol, what is a high quality adult? i have my own business and family and also game on my free time, you really have your priorities wrong, also world riches man is also a gamer, so your logic it’s broken
Exactly this! Also D2D has a video out about razer’s new blade 14 which also mentions this power limit. The 4070 in that laptop is rated for 140W but also just draws 100-110W or so.
In essence this laptop’s 4070 is about as good as it gets. For gamers out there that need more power you’ll have to go with a 4080 or 4090.
Great Review! I don't know if you mentioned this or not but how hot to the touch does this laptop get during use like gaming?
I have this in a 4060 and I’m very impressed. Fan noise isn’t that bad and runs quite cool. I’ve been playing Jedi Survivor and runs cooler and quieter than my previous Razer Blade 14 3070 model. Screen is the selling point by far. Because of OLED you can even turn settings down when gaming to 1200p or 1600p and it still looks so good to get a bump in performance. The screen is native 1800p and is just not necessary to run at that in such a small form factor. I can barely see a difference if I turn Jedi Survivor down to 1200p. Which I did, bumped settings to High/Ultra and enabled DLSS Quality and average probably around 80-90fps often getting above 100fps.
@@pdigital247 awesome thanks.
@pdigital247 thanks for your opinion iam thinking seriously to get this laptop
That's a lot of compute in a laptop. I don't use windows anymore but my kids need laptops for college. I don't think this would be ideal since they wouldn't need the horsepower and battery life is more important. They have nice desktops for games. But definitely I could see the use for creators and power users.
Just got mine the other day and I love it. This is without a doubt the most powerful laptop you can buy, and that includes the MacBook Pro. Unless you are editing video, most of those 30 GPUs in the topline MacBook Pro are just going to sit in power saver mode. The Mac silicon, especially the GPU, is built for Mac software, and vice-versa. I have a MacBook Air with the M2 chip and this laptop's CPU easily outperforms the M2 8-core CPU. I am a software engineer, so I don't care about video editing, and this laptop is almost as powerful as my desktop.
The display is great. While it comes set to the max resolution with 200% scaling, I set the resolution to 1920x1200 and let the GPU scale the display by 150%. In my opinion, GPU scaling is superior to Windows scaling. You will always find a piece of S/W that does not work with the Windows scaling, but you will never have that problem if you let the GPU do the scaling. The camera also works with MS "Hello", not many cameras actually support this, so you can log in with a simple look. I totally agree that there should be 2 TB4 ports and not just one. It makes no sense to me that one of those USB-C ports is USB 3.2 only. On top of that, these two ports are right next to each other so you need to remember which is which.
What about fan noise?
Watch the video :)
If you check gpu z the actual wattage of this laptop is 110W the 85W is false advertising which is weird. Also I know its oled but from both your videos the colors on this laptop look washed out to me. How os it in person?
11:45 Holy Crap
Is this laptop available in the market. I can’t see it to buy anywhere. Any idea ?
Where do you live. I just got it from canada computers
Sold out at most places. Restock coming mid july
I like it. I will consider getting.
Also, does anyone make a "laptop" that has an internal Optical drive and space for regular hard disk drive? I have never put a "laptop" on my lap!
Optical drive? Really? :) Why do you need an optical drive in 2023? I'm just curious. :)
Framework maybe?
Just got this laptop and it died from 100% in just 1.5 hours while watching youtube. Do you know why that might be?
I went with a MacBook pro 14 M2 Max with 30 cores, 30gb and 1to ssd. Tired of windows laptop that works great 6 months then start going full garbage. This is my first mac so it was tuff the first week but I love it. I can work on my video editing on the go UNPLUGGED which is crazy coming from windows laptops
No one cares😂
Re Zen Pro 14 :Screen inability to use stylus? Not detachable nor piano hinge? Wanted a powerhouse laptop yet with conveniences. Not having the ablility to use a stylus is a ME-Killer. AND I like plenty of powerful ports. Thank you
As per usual ASUS releases a laptop that is out of stock. I've had this problem with ASUS over the last 5yrs.
windows hello?
I like that comment. Turn the brightness down, make sure you’re in 60 Hz, stick to just the onboard graphics and you’ll get maybe a portion of the workday out of it. The second you start using it for its designed purpose, that’s gonna chew up battery life significantly more.
After being on Apple Silicon, I don’t miss Intel laptops at all 🤣
Let's race this laptop VS the "Apple silicon" you're on. Let's go!
Sorry but comments about battery life are meaningless without using a standardized battery test like PCMark 10.
As a consumer focused channel I've found standardized testing for the most part to not be relevant to my target audience.
35k we can afford because we are poor. If ok despatch the product right now .
Glossy screen.. sad
The m1max 32c full tgp on the 16inch got 21500-22000 wildlife extreme, where as the m2max in the 16inch get 26000 and the smaller 30c in the 14 gets ~22500.
The mac is way faster than ehat the scores tell us.
can we run linux in virtual machine in this laptop?🥲
