    Nice review as always; very impressive performance as well. I actually watched this on an OLED screen, my duet 5 has one, and yes that screen is very impressive, a;though I don't think it's 4K.

    Super nice review! Would absolutely love to see you review the 14" Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, also with the 4070. Maybe a comparison between these two devices would be absolutely amazing. It's a really hard choice I find :)

      The Yoga Pro 9i isn't available in North America. What we have is called the Slim Pro 9i, and the 14" is only available with a 4050 and an i7.

    Lon, just so you know, there seems to be an issue with RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 GPUs that are advertised with high power ratings. In many cases, due to a voltage limit, these GPUs are regularly incapable of drawing more than 100W. There's a video by Jarrod's Tech (full disclosure, I am a Patreon supporter of his) where he does some more detailed testing. This is likely why the 4060 in your Legion test laptop is only scoring marginally higher than the 4070 in this one when by any right it should be noticeably faster.

    • @gildrei

      Exactly this! Also D2D has a video out about razer’s new blade 14 which also mentions this power limit. The 4070 in that laptop is rated for 140W but also just draws 100-110W or so.
      In essence this laptop’s 4070 is about as good as it gets. For gamers out there that need more power you’ll have to go with a 4080 or 4090.

  • @supercrafter2602

    Great Review! I don't know if you mentioned this or not but how hot to the touch does this laptop get during use like gaming?

    • @pdigital247
      @pdigital247 Год назад +3

      I have this in a 4060 and I’m very impressed. Fan noise isn’t that bad and runs quite cool. I’ve been playing Jedi Survivor and runs cooler and quieter than my previous Razer Blade 14 3070 model. Screen is the selling point by far. Because of OLED you can even turn settings down when gaming to 1200p or 1600p and it still looks so good to get a bump in performance. The screen is native 1800p and is just not necessary to run at that in such a small form factor. I can barely see a difference if I turn Jedi Survivor down to 1200p. Which I did, bumped settings to High/Ultra and enabled DLSS Quality and average probably around 80-90fps often getting above 100fps.

    That's a lot of compute in a laptop. I don't use windows anymore but my kids need laptops for college. I don't think this would be ideal since they wouldn't need the horsepower and battery life is more important. They have nice desktops for games. But definitely I could see the use for creators and power users.

  • @badpants
    @badpants Год назад +2

    Just got mine the other day and I love it. This is without a doubt the most powerful laptop you can buy, and that includes the MacBook Pro. Unless you are editing video, most of those 30 GPUs in the topline MacBook Pro are just going to sit in power saver mode. The Mac silicon, especially the GPU, is built for Mac software, and vice-versa. I have a MacBook Air with the M2 chip and this laptop's CPU easily outperforms the M2 8-core CPU. I am a software engineer, so I don't care about video editing, and this laptop is almost as powerful as my desktop.
    The display is great. While it comes set to the max resolution with 200% scaling, I set the resolution to 1920x1200 and let the GPU scale the display by 150%. In my opinion, GPU scaling is superior to Windows scaling. You will always find a piece of S/W that does not work with the Windows scaling, but you will never have that problem if you let the GPU do the scaling. The camera also works with MS "Hello", not many cameras actually support this, so you can log in with a simple look. I totally agree that there should be 2 TB4 ports and not just one. It makes no sense to me that one of those USB-C ports is USB 3.2 only. On top of that, these two ports are right next to each other so you need to remember which is which.

    I like that comment. Turn the brightness down, make sure you’re in 60 Hz, stick to just the onboard graphics and you’ll get maybe a portion of the workday out of it. The second you start using it for its designed purpose, that’s gonna chew up battery life significantly more.
