Yup i have the blacksmith copper rough snd tough. Definitely my favorite boot. Always get compliments on them.

4 years ago I bought a pair of red wing pecos boots brand new,in a charity shop for£24.l contracted RW regarding the provenance.They wanted to buy them back.Apparently they were from the late 1970s.

Love your videos. I mainly wear thorogood moc toe boots daily. Been looking at some iron rangers. Trying to expand, but nervous about the heel. Never really worn a heel boots.
Thank you Manny. The Iron Ranger heel is not as high as say an Engineer or Climber. You would like them.

Brother...love your collection. I mix up Red Wing and Wolverine. Red Wing Iron Ranger I wear the most...but Wolverine Cap Toe...black...I wear at a little dressier occasions.

Have the 8084 Iron Ranger, have had them for about 3 weeks now. Love them! Already ordered my 2nd pair of Iron Rangers the 8085! Love these boots! Surprised there weren’t any Rovers on your list?!

I love my red wing muleskinner pecos boots, out of all my red wings, those get a lot of compliments, I style them up with a pair of levis 508's cuffed, your list was nice.

What is it you like about the peco? I may be missing out. For a first red wing I think the round toe or moc toe is a great choice. Feel your list is ver comprehensive. Would be hard to argue any of the choices. Top 10 custom would be cool. Maybe you can get a graphic artist to help you virtually create some concept boots.
I will do a comprehensive Pecos review. I have been holding off on doing so but I do one.

Hey CJ i love red wings too but curious if any other boot styles interest you from different companies. I like nicks falcon boot but there are some interesting styles from different boot brands.

Hard to argue with that list. Recently found a couple of rare/discontinued pairs of RWs online and snatched 'em up. 8015 Blacksmiths in brown spitfire (leather lined in the vamp + storm welt) and 4523 "Vintage Beckman Chukkas for Brooks Brothers," fully leather lined with double leather midsole and stacked leather heel (the newer and now discontinued Beckman chukkas eventually went with a full rubber heel and only a single layer of leather for the midsole). I posted in a RW group to see if anyone knew what kind of leather is on that boot, but nobody seems to know. RW hasn't gotten back to my email about it. It _really_ reminds me of natural chromexcel. If you know what leather they use, let me know! Super curious.
I wanna say it is Copper rough and tough. I will double check for ya!
@@CJCook this is the specific pair that I bought for $155. Worn once for like half a day, footbed is like new. Scuffs very easily and the color is very different from its natural state (someone mistook it for Teak Featherstone because of how it looks now). Both are factory firsts, so pretty much a steal at those prices.

Looking to get my first pair of red wings after I’ve worn out my docs, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Between the blacksmith (would get the briar oil but unavailable in uk) and the roughneck in briar oil
Both very different. Considering you are coming from Docs I would suggest the Blacksmith. You will find the boot as versatile.
The harvester, climber and 9060 are great boots as well as the Beckman round toe in dark walnut. My white whale is the huntsman. Not paying 8 bills for it though. But the Beckmans should be a staple boot like the moc toes and iron rangers. They just needed more dang time haha.
800$ for the Huntsman...gulp.
Have you ever tried Nicks boots? I recently saw them on Brian the bootmaker’s channel but i’m unable to check em out in Europe, can order them from the US but I’d rather see them on n real life first. To me they look more rugged then the Red Wings..., like they really are work boots that you can buff up and wear on a night out.
Nicks makes a beautiful boot. I do have my eye on a pair. 👍🏽

Who does the resole for you? I got a Beckman 9014 from 2014 I want resoled like it came
I send them to Red Wing in Minnesota. You could also ask your local RW dealer if there is a local RW approved cobbler for a quicker turnaround.

Definitely the Blacksmith. It is a great everyday boot.
They don't make them anymore but I was lucky enough to snag a pair of 966 Pecos steel toe boots NIB. Essentially a 9 inch Wellington style boot with a steel toe. One of my favorites.

I know you are red wing all day but have you every tried on Truman boots I keep seeing them on line and curious to see what you're thoughts are on them comparison to red wing ?
I have never tried Truman boots but I am open to trying a pair for sure.
I heard they are built like tanks and use better leather you're buddy nick from @stridewise has done a review on them way back. I live in Australia can't get Trumans here just don't know if they are worth more than red wings as I'm looking at $600 plus
Finally yes you should get a gig designing for red wing heritage you have a great eye I want some of you're customs. I want to make a nice moc toe like yours kinda want the Aldan indy boot look.... What model would you say is the closest to start from and sole. Sorry you're the only guy I know who would even know this kinda of stuff with out spending hrs googling

I used to live in Cole Haan chukkas. The RW Chukkas could be like the Pecos. I didn't pay them any mind then all of a sudden I buy every pair on Earth. I have tried on the RW Chukkas. They are comfortable. I just have not given them much time on feet.
Currently work at a Red Wing store but I just can't seem to find a style I enjoy. The closest to me is the black Rover but our warehouse is so backordered and empty on them...
I remember when the Rovers came out I jumped on the black harness model...which I think is the best of the lot.

I agree with your list man, although the #1 feels like a bit of cheating haha.
People cherish the Iron Rangers but to me, the Blacksmith is the true champion. Beckman definitely looks great too but I think they look way more bulbous than Blacksmith. The only issue I have with BS is the range of colours, or lack of them rather. I love that contrasting welt to a black upper and the Prairie leather does not seem like a "true" black to me. I never understood why they don't have black harness for the BS. And why not have a darker brown colour? Oh, and 3340 is not available in Europe which is also pissing me off slightly to be honest lol. Otherwhise, I like how the BS looks and if I were to get a pair of RW (I've had the 8161 actually), I'd most likely choose BS.
You could buy the Rover 2951 and then resole it and BAM! You have a Black Harness Blacksmith.

I also owned till recently the Tac Head boots by Timberland. I donated them.
