My Top 7 Red Wing Boots!

- OK, are you all ready for My Top 7 Red Wing Boots?
One of the most important things for me when choosing a boot is - - How versatile is this boot? Can I wear this boot with denim, chinos, in the rain, in the mud and on a date? Secondly, I worry about the comfort. Because I know once the leather on a Red Wing boot breaks and shapes to your foot it will be comfortable.

Your prudential commercial is being played constantly!! Congratulations CJ
Thank you! 🙌🏾
Cool list. Number one and two make total sense. I am totally pumped to get my first pair of Red Wing Heritage boots; the Blacksmith 3343 copper rough and tough that I ordered at the red wing store.
Awesome collection! Great to hear some thoughts about Red Wings other than IR’s.
Love my Black Cherry 🍒 Beckman’s...they are 5 years old and better today than new...great vid...incredible presentation...Charming!!!
Yes, the 9011 Beckman is top! They go with a lot of clothes, easy to style.
1907's are my favorite but I just love the Beckman's after the break in.
Makes perfect sense, mate! Looove your obsession w/ Red Wing Boots! Beckman, Moc Toe, Iron Ranger - top three for me.
Hello Karl,
Which Beckman's do you own?
Rough & tough, man! I love the construction. Leather lined, just like Moc Toe. I thank you so much for letting me know that I'm not the only one out there!@@CJCook
Massive Top 7 CJ, 100% customized RW boot is the way to go.... Missed the triple stitch, thumbs up Bro..... double doss next week please.....
This is the most valuable video I’ve seen on Red Wings!! This has been very helpful on giving me the silhouettes that I can’t get from their website. Thank you. 🌎✨
Great!
Thank you for the feedback! 👍🏽
I'm with you, I went the opposite route, I had Red Wing install speed hooks on my Beckman's and it cost only $25. They are my perfect Red Wings and I, like you, have a bunch of pairs.
Fabulous choices all, CJ! Great list and I especially love those customized Blacksmiths! 🔥 My 3340’s arrived yesterday and I don’t want to take them off. Ever! When I wear this Vibram out I may have to slap the Roccia sole on there!
Great job, as always!
Thank you!
Definitely agree! I've been kicking around the idea of putting speed hooks on my 9875. Definitely doing something with my vintage 877s. Sole needs replacing something serious, and the eyelets are forming that green waxy film around them.
Cool video. May I suggest making a list consisting of model # specific boots rather than the "family" of boots. There are so many different variations of each model/group. Perhaps a list of "styles" and a list of specific boots. Just an idea, well done as always 👍👍
Great list and the red Wing blacksmith is my favorite boot
Thank you Steve.
Love my 2955 blacksmiths. Perfect all around boot 🤘🏼
Im happy with my 3-beckman 9011 ; moc 875 & blacksmith 3340..but I do need to add a black boot-i still have my old 90's Gorilla boot from my grunge days.
Blacksmiths are great! My 3345s are perfect! 👌
I was hoping to see the Lineman 2936 by Brooks Brothers make the list. I love that boot! I wish I could get my hands on a pair.
I always love your videos!... and the cool part of it is I have most of the boots on your list with the exception of the engineers and the munsons... I do have some 8111's with the Roccia sole which are awesome!.. But believe it or not I think I wear my 875's more than any of my other ones!.... Anyway, great video!
Thank you William.
I need to add the 875s to my collection. I really like the way they look broken-in.
CJ Cook yeah man, the patina on then is top notch! Makes them look better!
My number 1 is 8085 iron ranger copper ruf n tuf. Because that is the only boots I have 😂 had them 3 years still look new and never had an issue braking them in. In fact when they were new, they felt good from the start. I'll buy another no 8 last again some day. I want that ebony harness 4606 I hope they keep making them.
Yo CJ; Can you do an essential 3 RW boot series like for those that can only pick up three pairs? What 3 boots would you keep and why if you could only have 3?
Great vid. Glad to see the Munson on there!
Thank you.
I'm curious, if you love the oilslick briar so much in the Blacksmith why didn't you convert them to a Beckman instead of the Hawthorn Muleskinner? Doesn't matter. Both are awesome. I'm just curious.
All handsome boots but the Moleskin takes it! You have very good taste!
Thank you Luke!
Brother! I was going to say the blacksmith Hawthorne muleskinner for your number one. Maybe that's because it's my number one even though I don't on a pair of my own. Yet. Your Beckman 9013 the light colored ones look great how did you get them back to normal after wearing them in the rainstorm?
Nice to see you here
Thank you for all you do with these videos...
Thank you for your support June!
haha great twist at the end! But seriously I agree with that! The best RW boot is the one that you feel proudest to wear! Personally though, I would have swapped the Iron Ranger and the Beckman! The IR is more of an icon!
Thank you.
Yes, the Iron Ranger is an icon BUT you couldn't possibly wear an Iron Ranger with a suit. You could totally wear the Beckman with a suit.
CJ Cook can't wear an IR with a suit? That coming from the guy wearing camo moc toes with a suit in this very video! 😂😂😂
@@absolutefreedom9437 Right?! Hahaha!
Awesome job! What selvedge jeans are you wearing with the oxblood IRs ? Thanks
Thank you Nicholas.
I am wearing Japanese selvedge denim from GAP.
What is the model of the number one yellow boot?
A custom boot? Haha! Ok I’m not mad. Your right tho, making a boot to your liking would be the best for you. For me , maybe an ox blood iron ranger w/a rochsa sole would be nice. I’m a little bummed the roughneck didn’t make the cut. What boot treats you better than the roughneck in the winter?
Not gonna lie I didn’t see that coming hahaha thought the ranger would be numero uno lol
Wiat, you can get the speed hooks removed for regular eyelets? How did they turn out afterwards? Not a fan of the speed hooks on iron rangers, but didn't know this was an option.
Yes, I sent them to Red Wing for the premium package and they replaced them.
I'm amazed that you still don't have my favorite Red Wings (other than the 8062 Olive Merchants): The charcoal 8086 Iron Rangers with the black eyelets and rough and tough leather and contrast stitching. It was my first Red Wing and still my favorite unless you have to be more formal. In that case, the 8062 Merchants are wonderful and have NO break in...
But what do you think of the Nick's Logger?
I have 9060flat box.super beautiful boots .your collection is so cool
The 9060s were designed with love!
🤙 8114
And that pup👍🏻
I also think the time on foot is valued by those watching that never owed a pair and wish to see how they present -
And the pant selections are on point!
Triple stitch ~
I love the 8114s!
You must have an on feet cuffed high for another perspective (whole silhouette) of the boot
I was surprised to see the IR at 6 but I applaud you for that decision. While the IR is an amazing boot (I have the 8119 and 8111), I think a lot of the praise it gets in mainstream circles really takes away from some of RW's other offerings. On that note, it's cool to see the Beckman get some love. I'm a huge fan of my 9014 Beckmans and agree that they are extremely versatile.
Yes, the Beckman boots are beautiful new out of the box and get better with age!
Are Beckmans discontinued?
Hey CJ, for your Hawthorne Beckmans, where did you go to have the speed hooks replaced with eyelets? I brought my Blacksmiths in to my local RW dealer to have it done, told them that I want the exact same stock eyelets used on the rest of the boot, and of course, they botched it by having a local cobbler put in ones that just look close enough. I told them to take them back and send them to the RW factory to redo it. I waited two months, and they were returned with the same cobbler job (nothing was done to them). I was a little upset tbh, and I had them send them back again. Did you manage to get the exact same stock eyelets put on yours?
Yes, I had Red Wing do mine and they used the stock eyelets to match the others. Sorry your boots did not turn out as you desired.
@@CJCook At least now I know it can be done. Hopefully they'll redo it correctly this time. Thanks!
The Iron Ranger rough out Boots vs the Iron Ranger rough and tough which one love them both but can only afford one right now I need some input
Hello Marc, If I were you I would wait till late July to buy an Iron Ranger then make your decision.
Really informative. Great 👍
thank you
Do the blacksmith and beckman boots size the same to the iron rangers? Do I order the same size? I have 2 iron rangers.
Hello Jake, Yes the Blacksmith and the Beckman size the same (8 Last).
I was wondering if you would pick a muleskinner and you did. Not as number 1, but at least within the top 3. Great video!
Thank you
So my number one boot should be a Nick’s?
Dang, I was guessing the 8113 Iron Ranger Muleskinner (similar to your custom one-off I guess)
Cj you made me start a boot collection. I had red wings for work but you got me started on that heritage line. Ordered some 3340s 2 weeks ago at the store since they didnt have my size. And ordered some 9011s factory seconds. Fingers crossed its only a minor flaw.
Hellz ya Joshua!
Great pics so far!
He made me start one too. Damn it CJ
Blackman or Becksmith 3103 (or CJC number letter code)!
Wow I am liking your channel keep it up !! I own 2 pairs of Redwings a pair of 8111 Iron Rangers and a pair of 8131 moc toes. I can't find much information on the 8131 I bought them in Los Angeles 6 years ago but I just started wearing them a few months ago. Can you shed some light on that model or point me in a direction?
8131 Moc Toes are made with the Oro Russet Portage Leather. They hard to find in the U.S. They are available in the Asian & European markets. One can sometimes find factory seconds in the States. Nice orange color leather also found on the 8819s
CJ Thanks for the reply!! and the info that's about what I could find on them. Guess it will benefit me to hang onto them for a few decades. I have already picked out my next soles for them I want to put the Irish Setter prairie sole on them in about year or so. @@CJCook
@@jamesflorez8258 That would look really cool!
awesome
Mine will always be the 875. Looks the best, you can dress them up, just check out Ryan Gosling dressing them up, they look nice for events and getting some beers with the boys.
The Open Road would have looked sharp with the suit.
I'm buying 3344 because of you^^
You will love them. I was wearing mine yesterday.
CJ: Do you know if Redwing offers these 9060 flatbox boots in U.S. 11.5 size? The largest I have seen is U.S. 11.
I will check
11 is the max
Sad that you didn’t have a moc toe on your list. When are you going to feature some Wolverines??
Moc Toes are very cool and comfortable although they are not as versatile when trying to style them.
I really like the Wolverine 1000 Mile boot. It is gorgeous.
Ditto on that hint hint @redwingheritage lol
Where can you find a beckman? Nothing on the redwing page.
If you live in the States...they are no longer available.
Lol. So I need to buy an American made boot in Japan? Lol. I know, I know.... I need have my first Redwings be an Iron Ranger. :)
Mr Cook , young sir I detect you iron your jeans.
Which do you prefer, I personally like the look of pressed jeans but prefer the feel of unironed jeans.
I also like to customlze boots.
I have a great pair of , what were Tommy hilfiger , suede , 8 inch , with speed hooks .
I cut them down to 6 inch , no more speed hooks to dig into all my scar tissue around the upper ankle .
Changed the colour fom thorn to burgundy.
I nevet felt comfortable in these boots until I made those alterations.
I don't iron my jeans unless extremely necessary. The straight legs jeans I own are folded a certain way as to not have creasing along the seam when worn. The slim jeans are folded as normal.
Customized boots are the best. If one is going to invest in a 300$ boot might as well make it how you want it 😉👍🏽
@@CJCook yes this is so true, often a really good finish on your boots and a pair of new laces can work wonders.
Hey CJ, would you consider doing a vid on Red Wings number system? I have no clue what the difference in the Iron Ranger 8111 and 8114. My lack of understanding is probably shared by many RW fans. TIA
Hey Charley, Let me see if I understand your question. You would like to know the difference between the 8111 (Amber Harness Leather) vs the 8114 (Black Harness Leather)? Or you would like to know why the 8111 is given the number 8111 and the 8114 is given the number 8114?
@@CJCook
Yes, but I'm really asking more about the overall numbering system. I included 8111 and 8114 as an example. So many choices of seemingly the same boot. I'm trying to figure out what if anything the numbers indicate. Thanks, love the vids. Keep them coming!
@@therealelvisparsley Ah, ok. Gotcha.
What is the model of the number one yellow boot?
@@JeeplifeMrGD Hey Kevin, the model number is 8268.
my 6" post man is my favorite, I wear them more than any other of my red wings, well except for the ones I wear at work.
I live in Minnesota and I work in a lumberyard and I find this video odd. But I dig it.
Which boots do you wear in the lumberyard?
you need to add the Huntsman 2015 to your collection man, seriously.
I totally agree w you !!
What should I get for my first boot?
I think an Iron Ranger or a Beckman would be a great first boot.
@@CJCook I'll check them out thanks!!
Hell yea……the top one is completely make sense
Thank you
You have the best videos men.
Thank you Gilberto!
Puedes hacer algunos videos en español, para los que te seguimos en latinoamerica
The Merchant did not get the invite? Im shocked
I think the Merchants should have made the list.
Nothing against mix blood redwing but imo the top must be a pure breed redwing .. nevertheless good video brother .... u missed the black harness moc toes ... they look great in denim
Hailing from the Far East ... Proud owner of pure breed IR Copper R&T and MT Black Harness
Its Redwing or Barefeet
👀
is it gonna be weird to wear beckman with a suit? @CJ Cook
I have worn the black beckmans with a suit.
What is the style number of the boots that you ranked the first?
Red Wing Blacksmith 3344
Damn my top 7 would've been in total reverse of yours 😅
Engineer as #1...? Nice!
you have the same review for each one of the 7...
#6?!......🤯
🤣👍
OH....No.1 not the 4522 lether lining....THAT ONE ? XD
Is it me or those 8119 iron rangers look a little more sleek than the regular iron ranger like the toe cap looks more flan and narrow
The leather is definitely supple...that ox blood!
CJ Cook hey question how did you buy those blacksmith I’m on their website and I don’t know how to buy them do they exchange the US dollar to their currency ?
@@wiltonhenriquez6613 They do exchange the US dollar to their currency.
CJ Cook nice those look freaking great I’m gonna try to buy them
Cool list !!!
Thank you
How do you afford these
I used to collect watches so the price of Red Wing boots is reasonable 😁
Whats the point of buying these boots if you dont wear them enough to even break them in?
Well...because I collect Red Wing boots.
Cool list! But, when it comes to engineer and harness boots, nothing beats Frye boots. Their square toe harness boot is classic!
WTF .. no moc toe? Figured the 1907 in Copper Rough & Tough or 8138 Briar Oil Slick would make the list & was actually hoping the 8146 Roughneck in Briar Oil Slick or 2942 in Copper Rough & Tough would make the list...bummer
You are right, the Roughneck should have gotten a nod. It is a well made boot. I do find the Moc Toes have limits (White Traction Tred sole) being dressed up BUT the Vibram lug sole takes the Roughneck to another level.
I have friends who wear Red Wings, but they work for a living.
Yes, the Red Wing work line is fantastic! I hear they are some of the most comfortable boots for all day wear. I have a friend who wears the same work line pair and they look amazing.
Great video but bro the black suit with the boots don't look good at all
Hahaha! Agreed!
You seriously need to get into Nicks, Franks, wesco and whites. I was a long time red wing customer (still own the 1907) but after getting some nicks and experiencing true hand made boots. You’ll never go back
bro like how many boots do you own in total ?
I am not sure anymore, hahaha! Over 40...
@@CJCook dayummm. you the MAN lol
Pesco?????
Man cool boots !!
Iron renger is best for me!!!
Those are great boots
You like those engineers cuz your mad gay n love the buckles. 😂 Lol jk, Great content 👍
Subscibed 💪
What the hell yogube I’m subbed and it tells me I’m not. Grrrr
top 7, none is moc toe! You love round toe more!
I like the Moc Toe very much. I find the Moc Toe has limits when dressing the boot up.
City folks
Custom...moneymoney
Why do you say “you know I feel” all the time? I honestly don’t.
New York person
You want to look hard...most of us brought red wings for work boots...lol city folk like to look like working guy
You apparently want to sound hard. If you think walking every day in a big city/urban environment won't stress your shoes/ boots and feet, think again. Move along Greg, this channel is not for you. Shouldn't you be out back milking the cows and slopping the hogs? Ya know, like a real Red Wing man?
Charley Ogle hahahhahhahhaha
You can’t dress up with those boots, they are work boots, they are not dress boots, you are ----
Just another city guy, an his opinion
What is the model of the number one yellow boot?
