I bought a 2003 2.2l 5 speed s10 when I was 14 with 32,000 miles. 14 years later that’s still my daily driver. She’s my slow as shit baby but I’ll never get rid of her. Mine is named "Louise". She is a 2002 LS, 2.2 liter 5 speed manual with 176,000 miles on the odometer. By far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. She starts right up on the first try even in -30 degree weather. She's a farm truck so she gets worked hard but doesn't complain one bit. I will be replacing the tail gate since it's badly rusted out and is barely hanging on! Love my S10!
@@CarFacts81 personally I wouldn't. I crashed my yota and im going to this. Tacoma is great if you want a daily driver you'll never modify unless you do the 50th million overlanding build, or if you supercharge it, but the supercharger is bonkers expensive (I'm talking about the second gen as u had a 4.0 in my 06) I want a chevy because so many more parts exist, they are cheaper, and funner to drive. I can 5.3 swap an s10 for more power (250whp) for 1000 bucks, then turbo it for 2,000 for 500whp if i wanted to. I can supercharge my toyota for 8000 to get to 250 whp. Just doesn't make sense power wise. Plus honestly I can't tell a difference in quality interior wise except for the buttons on chevy's being cheaper.
I have a 97 s10 LS and am having some trouble out of it. Simple stuff so far.. but despite its issues I really love this little truck. I'd like to restore it to its old factory state except for a 6" lift
Got me and 03 4-cylinder from my neighbor for 1500 after it sat for about 2 years. Runs like a champ. Ac still cold and inside nearly perfect besides the weathered dash and 2 minor cracks. 180k miles
This guy does not know "Spider Injectors" if it bit him!. Both trucks have the Throttle Body on them... He just doesn't get it. Sorry Bro... And by the way, All of the 4.3's never got "Good" gas mileage, 18-20 mpg is NOT GOOD for a small truck
There's a nice '95 S10 for sale by me with the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, extended cab and a 5 speed. Anyone have an opinion on that combo? I currently have a 92 Ford F150 which I love, except for its crappy gas mileage.
Gets great gas mileage. If it doesn't have a blown head gasket, buy it! Only thing vs F150, less bed and can't tow much. Can only hold 1yard mulch ect. Some places 2 yard minimum as front hoe holds 2. Start slow from stand still in rainy weather. To save clutch, put in neutral slowing down at stop with brake. Then put in first gear to go. Only use clutch to go. 3,000 miles original clutch.
I also have a 2nd generation 1997 S10! I love mine! I have 245,000 miles but it’s good to know they can last up to 560,000 based off your video! My mom owns a 3rd Gen 2000 S10! Great trucks I’ve had minor issues with mine! I did have to change out the fuel pump eventually and one time I did have to change out two solenoids in my transmission! It was stuck in 3rd gear and I could go into reverse but once me and my buddy changed out the solenoids she was good to go!
I special ordered my 1986 S10 Tahoe 4wd Extra Cab from the factory, just the way I wanted it. I deleted the electric windows from the build because GM electrics were unreliable then. They kind of scream teenager first vehicle if you find one for sale with ground effects on it and rims and rubber bands. They last longer than what is expected if you leave them stock and give them the tlc they deserve.

Usually the center plug that has the steering shaft in the way is only a problem if the motor mounts are collapsed. Put a jack under the motor and raise it up an inch. Totally changes the situation. Extremes did come extended cab. I have a black one, and blazers came as an extreme as well. My bravada is more comfortable than an s10, just a few of the early 90s trucks. Even a few 92 or 93 trucks had what was called cpi. Early "vortec" aluminum intakes existed. Look up motor week 1/4 mile testing for a sonoma gt, compaired to the iconic 454ss truck. They were within 2/10ths of a second...pretty rad

Buying one this weekend from a guy who is 60. He’s building a duramax and just doesn’t want the 97 s10 bc it’s a five speed and he’s older. But it’s a 4.3 5 speed 4x4 with 160,xxx miles on it. I have an 02 blazer with 200,xxx miles on it. Love the 4.3.
I had a 1993 sonoma that was the most dependable vehicle I ever owned. I just saw the damn thing about 8 months ago an old couple is still driving it couldn't imagine the miles now.
My first car that I got in highschool at like 18 years old I’m now 20 it’s still my daily and i haven’t had any significant issues because I’ve kept up with the maintenance I did have to replace the transmission though but that was my fault that it went out 2.2l s10 2003
I have a 1995 SS that is getting a 5.3 swap right now and I love it. Your history on the S10 is incorrect. Chevy Luv was actually the 1st small Chevy truck and it was basically a Isuzu truck with a Chevy logo. Like Mazda and Ford , Ford owned 65% of stock in Mazda of America. 2nd Generation S10s started in 1994-2004. All S10 models are hot for collectors and race track drivers due to their weight. You should do more videos on S10 restoration and LS swaps cause they are Hot right now.
Yeah I've rebuilt a 2002 blazer 4x4 ...made one from 2.... it looks great and I have found its all cramped together but chevy did ALOT OF engineering on these vehicles ....why they needed to take down the Ford lighting.... but anyhow there great but over engineered to a degree

I have the same exact truck, just spent about $700 for a custom driveline for it because apparently the one that came from factory on my truck wasn’t from an s10 and they had to order conversion u joints crazy crazy crazy it has the g80 locker idk if that has anything to do with it but keep your eyes peeled so you don’t have to deal with the same crap
I have a 2002 S10 LS. It sat for 10 years was my cousins. Had 21000 miles but fuel system was shot. Flat tires and sitting my cousins back yard. Body and interior like new! I had it towed out and the GM dealer rebuilt the entire fuel system. So I have about 7k invested with what I paid for the truck and the repairs. So far so good. Personally I love s10s. I’ve got a 2.2 5 speed single cab 2wd that I bought at 15. Absolutely love this truck and still daily drive it even tho I have a 86’ f-150 and grand Cherokee. I don’t give a damn for horsepower that much. I pull my jon boat and I do a lot of side jobs and it’ll haul supply’s when I need it to. My 2.2 s10 has never let me down. Hell I even wrecked it and they are stupid simple little pickups and easy to find parts for. Got a sound system in it some a/ts, a new upgraded clutch, a/c will run u out of it. Wish they still made them because I’d buy a new one. I’m even getting an s10 for my gf to daily drive. And I plan on buying another 4x4 s10 when my now s10 gives out. If you’re in the market for one and watching this video buy it. Can’t go wrong for the what 2 or 3k they go for nowadays if you find a papaw gettin rid of his. They have some common issues but I’ll tell you rn it’ll fail you less than a big truck that’ll chug gas all day
Luckily enough I just picked up and saved a 98 Isuzu Hombre S with 90k, no rust, 5spd 2.2l and I love it. I really wish it came with a LS motor but maybe that'll be a future if the vortex 2200 ever dies.

Prefer the 4 cylinder ones for me some reason they have lasted longer I think. Obviously better on gas. Can still tow a good amount for its size.
4.3 v6 last forever if maintained, the 2.2 is good. But it’s not really an s10 without the 4.3
Maybe it’s easier to work on the 4-cylinders, and people take care of them because of that (since it’s less daunting).

Just wondering man where did you get that bumper?
Buying one this weekend from a guy who is 60. He’s building a duramax and just doesn’t want the 97 s10 bc it’s a five speed and he’s older. But it’s a 4.3 5 speed 4x4 with 160,xxx miles on it. I have an 02 blazer with 200,xxx miles on it. Love the 4.3.
I just recently got a 2003 Chevy S10 with 90k miles wanna take as great of care of it as I can Edit: it was my neighbors but he passed away
I just got an 03 s10 from my neighbour! 165k km
I had a 1993 sonoma that was the most dependable vehicle I ever owned. I just saw the damn thing about 8 months ago an old couple is still driving it couldn't imagine the miles now.
I own an extreme extended cab, i love it
I own a 2001 extended cab v6. Use it for pressure washing including pulling a trailer with 5000 lbs worth of water
Im actually about to buy a s10. Been looking for a small work truck. Got it for $750. Hopefully its a good buy
love the commentary👌🏽😂
Also your complaint about the spark plugs, did mine in 30 minutes, including pulling the steering shaft out. Easiest way to do it
Got a 2000 Chevy S10 LS single cab and i call it barney bc its plum crazy purple. In the process of putting subs in it
My first car that I got in highschool at like 18 years old I’m now 20 it’s still my daily and i haven’t had any significant issues because I’ve kept up with the maintenance I did have to replace the transmission though but that was my fault that it went out 2.2l s10 2003
i have a 91 2.8 with unknown mileage and once I got the issues from it being a 30 year old truck fixed I haven't had any issues with it
I have a 1995 SS that is getting a 5.3 swap right now and I love it.
They made the Xtreme in the 2 door blazer as well as the pickup
I'm 14 with a manual 98 s10 love it
Still have my 2000 s10 LS step side ext cab 90,000 kms =‘s 55,000 original miles never seen our Canadian winter underside looks better than upside and it looks great. Great little truck also have my 1997 5.7l ext cab k1500 224,000 kms only seen two winters as a spare, sweet truck both head turners but not show trucks by any means
Extreme package has an extended cab version.
The longer bed was more important to me. I mean what's a truck for?
I have a friend in his late 60s and he has a 2nd gen and he loves it.
Well im 68 an going to start driving a 97 LS that has 4,3 TBI extended cab it was given to me
Thanks for the video!
dude your video quality is nutz! How do you have so little subscribers?

Does anyone know what the metal switch is under the headlight switch is? It’s at 1:57 I can’t find any answers online
Several years of extreme s10's came with extended cabs, if not all years of the extreme s10
Number 3 cylinder spark plug removal, use spark plug socket with regular open end wrench turn at the top of socket
I am 38 years old and I bought the third s10 again, this last one 1995 chevy S10 4.3 5 speed 2wd it took me 1 year to rebuild it to 100%, I can buy a new one but I enjoy more driving my 1995 s10😁 greetings✌
I gotta look into that turbo kit someone posted on below.
Awesome video. I had to sub for the chicken tax/suburu knowledge drop. Lmao. That was great.
I have a 1996 chevy s10 and its a eye catcher i also have mine slammed and siting in some us mags bullet wheels with custom soumd system and also more custom parts ome of the best trucks i have
Own 2. I'm 57. '97 Isuzu 300,000 miles. Lady hit me running stop sign. Even my dad cried. Starts every time. $5,000 cash. Best money I ever spent in 2001. 2003 s10 just bought $4,500 99,000 miles. Will go till I die. They are going as much as $12,000 now.
I have an xtreme with extended cab and I know someone a few blocks away with a mint xtreme with 90k on it. They aren't too hard to find
I was told by my older brother that 4.3 was basically a 350 with two cylinders cut off i like the 4.3 engine
At 24 i got a 2000 side step 4 cylinder half cab...i fucked love it!!!
I own a 93 s10 2.8 v6 the lil guy it's has never been rebuilt original motor heads everything except heater core three clutches so I know my s10 is a beat very reliable n le by the way it has over 1 million miles that is impressive its my first vehicle and my only vehicle I'm looking for another one wich has been garage kept with extremely low miles to see if I can run it like I did mine for another 20 years
I love my 97 single cab short box s10
Thanks for the review
The great thing about the second generation, not sure about first is the heater core...
just got a 89 s10 single cab with a new engine with less than 5000 miles!
They have some common issues but I’ll tell you rn it’ll fail you less than a big truck that’ll chug gas all day
we had 3 s15 light for snow here whistler in 1990s chains
I'm 46. I just got a 96 s10. Has only 144k on it. Been good so far.
I use a rag to take off the window roll handles. Check it out. It's a lot easier
I got mine for 1k the other day 02 s10 ex cab, runs great nothing major at all 💯
Where can I get the fuel injection conversion kit to get rid of the spider?
Napa!
Is 170,000 too high for buying at at that mileage for a daily vehicle?
Luckily enough I just picked up and saved a 98 Isuzu Hombre S with 90k, no rust, 5spd 2.2l and I love it.
I really wish it came with a LS motor but maybe that'll be a future if the vortex 2200 ever dies.
I liked the 4 and 6 banger 2 wheel 5 speeds. Preferably first generation
What drop do you have on the red s10?
Early 94 s10 didn’t have full bench. Mine has split seat like the extreme. But can’t beat it as a cheap beater truck.
Great video
I’m 39 and have a 97 s10 owned it now for 11 years now
I love my 2001 xtreme s10 LS 3 door. but i have one question is it normal that my oil gauge moves up and down on my dash constantly?
Got 6 Zr2 models, best trucks I've ever owned
