@@TheMrDarius That doesn't matter, you clearly don't understand what you're talking about, just like most people who talk about this. It's one of the most misunderstood topics in cars out there because you all look at only one aspect of the whole system. Just because you went past the point of peak torque with the engine, doesn't mean you shouldn't rev above it. You should, because the power still increases, and the revs still increase with the same gear ratio, giving you more torque at the wheels than shifting up into next gear and dropping lower in the rev range, even if in higher gear you have more torque at the crank because the engine is in the rev range with more torque, that torque is going into a higher gear with a longer gear ratio. Point is, driving in 3rd gear at 4000 rpm with 200 Nm at the crank gives you more usable torque at the wheels than driving at the same speed but in 4th gear at 2000 rpm with 350 Nm at the crank. Why do you think diesel cars that always have peak torque below 2000 rpm are still revved to 4000-4500 rpm to get the best acceleration? Or why every NA petrol engine achieves peak torque at halfway through the rev range but still has to be revved higher to achieve best acceleration? Or why turbo petrol engines achieve peak torque at 1500 rpm but are still revved to 6000+ rpm to get the best acceleration? That's why.
I think a good way to to weight tests would be to use the slow speed course, and make a loop from there, that way it's not a test of pure power but the brakes and you have a more natural test of what the truck may actually see, where momentum and corners are more prevalent and where they can help and hurt the car respectively
