I had dreadlocks put into my semi short hair within the last two months. I took them down this month to wash my hair and planned to redye my roots and have them touched up again. But, the woman who put them in for me.. Well she pulled too tightly. There were tension bumps, I was stricken with a horrible headache and nausea. My scalp had little scabs where some hair had pulled out. When I took out those extensions.. So much of my hair fell out. I recently had to go to a pro to shave off a lot of my hair, leaving about 1-2 inches on top. As a girl with a very 'androgynous' face I feel very unfeminine and was worried about how long I would have to wait until I could have extensions again.. Well im relieved to know I might not have to wait forever to get more put in. But this time around I'm going to be going to someone else.
Hair doesn't equal feminine anything. My dad had hair down to his butt. My head is mostly shaved and I'm 56 rocking the dreads. Imagine if you were a POC and had your hair pulled and braided that it hurt so bad, or get track alopecia from pulling on your hair for years in braids because natural hair and afros weren't worn because white people said it was nappy or dirty or whatever other derogatory words were said... You're lucky. Also, if you ever have to go through chemotherapy and lose your hair out doesn't make you less feminine. Do you understand how lucky you are? Look at the mirror, if you have an androgynous face then work it, be it.
hi guys, im actually thinking of getting a dreadlocks extension, while keeping my hair to grow. im just wondering for how long can i wear a dreadlocks extension?
why bother with the rubber band at the start. it seems an un neccessary step...i fit dreads in my daughters hair by taking a section of hair, splitting it, placing dread in centre and then fixing a rubber band to hold dread
I did the same thing but with braids, and the hair that holds the braid (or dread) just loosens and the hair band holding them together just falls out after literally a day Any recommendations on how to keep it in?
Hi, I went to one salon and asked if she can install dreads on my short hair and she said no.. my hair is a little longer than the guy in the video. Is she wrong?
Permanent dreads can be installed in hair which is a couple inches long and as per this vid, temporary dreads can be installed in hair high is only and inch or so.
Hey, i have long hair (about 30 cm) og the top, and side cuts. is that easier to work with? ANd would you put extra dreads in between or extend the exciting hair :)?
Our extensions last indefinitely. Some maintenance maybe required depending on which type. Www.dreadlocks.com.au has more info on how to care for them etc.
Here's the link to them with pricing based on how many dreadlocks in each pack: www.dreadlocks.com.au/81-double-ended-dreadlocks-backcombed-twist-synthetic
How long short hair installs last very much depends on a few things - the actual length of your own hair. The longer the hair, the longer it will last. Activities such as swimming, surfing, wearing helmets etc will decrease the time they remain installed. Oh and yes you can shower and shampoo as normal! Just handle extensions with care. The quality of the rubber band or pro elastic used also plays a part in their longevity as we are really relying on the rubber bands to keep them in. This is unlike installation in longer hair, where your own hair is braided and the braiding tends to more securely hold it in place. The model in this video was able to wear them for a few weeks with the odd one needing re installing here and there.
Hi Joey! If you can get a friend to help, buy the Double Ended extensions from www.dreadlocks.com.au and do them at home. They are available in the Backcombed/Twisted version as per this vid or Crocheted which look EXACTLY like real dreads.
This install required 15 extensions (equating to 30 dreads when folded) $66.95 Australian Dollars www.dreadlocks.com.au/en/223-30-x-double-ended-dreadlock-extensions-15-extensions-30-dreads-when-folded.html
Can someone please tell me where I can buy some real human dreadlocks atleast 30 inches long ? All i see online is about 12 inches. which is better does it matter to buy either real or fake?, what are synthetic dreads? Lol thank you
Hi there! We sell 16inches at www.dreadlocks.com.au but can also custom make Human Hair dreads to your required length, thickness and colour. Synthetic look exactly like real dreads but they can be a bit scratchier. Human Hair are a bit softer so they are the best option if budget extends that far. If you have any questions or want to discuss what it is you're trying to achieve etc, drop us a line at contact@dreadlocks.com.au
Sorry but out of all the hair models u coulda used u find the one that looks ridiculous in dreads . Nothing against dude.. he just has more of a political or preppy look and the dreads just look funny af on him . But i guess its about the tutorial 🤷🏼♂️

So your hair fell off because the way she pulled or because you had extensions for a while?

You need to cut your hair to back to short hair or put them off is good?
I did the same thing but with braids, and the hair that holds the braid (or dread) just loosens and the hair band holding them together just falls out after literally a day

Charlie Simone saloon
Use elastic string and wrap it you can find another tutorial on how to do that
It would last if you use a latch hook as if your doing individual crochet braids
Use an elastic bracelet string instead of the bands, it lasts for weeks.
Is there a way where you can make the extensions to last forever
Sadly no,have to do this process every 2-3 months(depends on hair type)
Hi, would you still be able to tie your hair up with These in? X
Elanor Brown I’ve had dreadlock extensions and yes, you can 😊

15 extensions (30 dreads) were used in this install so for a full head I would say 25 extensions (50 dreads).

S/o the drake and josh music
I dont know if this has been asked before but does this work for all hair types, I have very flat and thin hair.
Yes, the hair type in this vid is fine and very straight. Use a little Dread Dust or Gel to give you grip.
I also would like to no
I need help please someone answer me! If I shorten my synthetic dreadlocks (cut in half), can I still use the other part?
We don't recommend cutting Backcombed & Twisted dreads as it will cause the dread to loosen. Crocheted dreads can be cut in half and both ends used.
Hey, i have long hair (about 30 cm) og the top, and side cuts.

Do you take them out to wash your hair?
No, these can be kept in :)
