Thank you!!!
Somebody sounds excited. I can see why you almost got the grand old gal ready for the big dance. Good job Captain.
You're doing a great job restoring your 555! I like how you're adding 3/4 inch steel to strengthen the joint between the two sections of the frame. It's enjoyable watching you tackle the difficult job of fitting together the heavy metal parts by yourself and watch you figure out a way to make it happen. Your welding is certainly ensures very strong connections between the metal parts that are being joined together. Also it's nice to see you painting the old machine as the restoration continues. Your hard work will ensure your old 555 will look good and work hard for a long time! Well done Captain!
Makes a guy really appreciate what c&c does. Keep at her Captain.
Re-defining sketchy, one video at a time. Love ya, Mike!
" new front axle,lost the receipt "
Classic Bieri statement😂😂😂
Cap't you are the best on patient problem solving, gotta give you a big salute.
My back is killing me watching you hoist that stuff!
One man doing at least a two man job, great problem solving Captain, I Salute you.
Thank you sir!
Mike, you did an awesome job of getting those counter weights on without any help. You are quite the problem solver!👍
I feel like I'm watching myself 50 years ago ... right down to that famous quote, "That'll prolly be fine".
This is such a treat I’m telling ya, and those pillars with the magic black paint now look” factory”
Dang near!
Just a tip for next time you have to line up multiple plates like the side weights. Cut a piece of threaded rod or take the head off a long bolt, preferably 2 pieces. Insert them in the threaded holes, then slide on your plates. Less chance of something heavy falling on your feet 😅
The build is slowly becoming indestructible!
That old backhoe is going to be stronger than ever and just as nice looking! Great job Cap’n!
I hope so!
I don't know how many times I've picked up a bunch of bolts, nuts, and washers and one or a few ends up being a different size or threat pitch. And it never fails that you end up short. So now I always buy extra just in case, especially if I damage one. I can take the wrong ones back for a refund or exchange after the job is done.
Another great episode of the never-ending Captain Kleeman comedy!
Working smarter not harder. Leverage is everything. Good job.
Captain, once again you have amazed me with your “outside the box” thought processes. The 555 is not only going to be a workhorse, it is going to look awesome!!
Stay safe my friend!
She’s coming back to life. It’s awesome to watch the triple nickel get new life and look good. Great work!
Enjoy the video on the Backhoe and man your a hard worker .
Mike- for your alignment issues with heavy “stuff “, ready rod is your backs savior! Cut around six inches longer than you need, taper ends, thread two or three turns into holes, wurks! And when you reinstall bolts anti-seize does wonders. Use it, it’s cheaper than the alternative after 😂. You are doing great stuff!!! 😊
Mike, you sure understand mechanical advantage to help you install the counterweights. The paint job looks great and will give you satisfaction each time you look at the 555. Continued blessings to you and the Admiral.
I still say she’s beautiful I wouldn’t painter I would clear coated and leave the patina. It’s a piece of history. It’s beautiful.
Captain, Cand C is going to want the machine back after you're done. looking good.
Hi if only real life was as straightforward as you make it look 🤣🤣good job keep going. 👍🐝🌞
Improvements ongoing !!! 😁
Ingenious way to move the bottom counterweight, drags well on timber ! 💪💪
Can opened with a screwdriver, a good way to ensure paint is not spilt 😂
Capt'n, you are just a one man band when it comes to working on the 555. Keep up the good work. Who knows,, Clint may be hiring you to work on equipment like this for him.
Good job captain
Turn up your welder on that thicker material for better penetration and it will help you lay down your welds as you stack passes...
Your welding is getting better with every project...
Also you creativity is always fun to see what you come up with...
20:00 Would have been a Perfect time for a MBHS cameo !
I'm anxious to see the quick attach add. I wondered if that could be done on a backhoe and the attachments that could be used. Nice progress.
Getting caught up on your video's and I'm not disappointed. 😂😊
Mike, this old world is full of suggestions and I ain't to disappoint ya... a piece of ready rod or all thread would make putting on your weights a heck of a lot easier to hang your weights on to the sides.... then get the bolts started in and take out the ready rod that you hung it off of out and replaced with a long bolt with a head on it. Your welds are just fine, absolutely better than nothing as it was before. As for that corrosion... lets just say, "we didn't see it" and just go on. I think this tractor has had one heck of a past in what ever it was used for considering it came to you as a basket case and now is a usable tool in your arsenal of tools for that homestead... and give your little midget green machine a chance to take a breather. I have to say personally that its seen way more abuse than Old Yeller or the triple nickel machine has seen in its life. Not even the other Mikes machine has been worked that hard. When it does take its place in resting for a good long while... might just need to hold services for its contribution for building any and all of this homesite of yours now
It just struck me. That shade of yellow with the black matches our old Tonka Truck toys colors!
Gotta love the quality of work at an auction yard!
Thanks Captain
MBTS would be proud!
Hey Mike, with the POR15 after the first use I put cling wrap over the top of the can then lightly tap the lid on. That seams to give me many more uses out of one can. I’ve been enjoying the 555 restoration!
I'll keep that in mind. Appreciate the tip
I’ve always used two layers of cling wrap. Never had a problem opening the can after I learned that little trick..
Always Good to Catch Up with you Mike, I Hope all is Well as you wind down on the Summer Break.
Old bones looking younger by the day! ⚓️🚢🚧
Hi Mike. It's better to use the brain than the back on those counterweights. You'll always feel better for it. It all looks good. Have good days!
Love how you show the struggles we all have with projects especially when operating on your own when two people would be way easier. I feel your problem solving especially with weight/bulk as I work alone ( also as I do, if in needs doing just do it ) the backhoe is looking really good 👍 love both your channels , watched every episode ( many twice ) Excellent as always Mike 👍 Best wishes to you and yours, from Britain 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Almost got a hernia just watching you wrestle with those plates
It's looking good Captain. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing. Keep um coming!
Tip to always get paint cans to reopen is to put a piece of kitchen cling wrap across the top of the can before installing the lid. Then the paint can’t bond the lid to the can.
Thanks!
Gotta love a good auction lot quality restoration, lol. She’s gonna be a workhorse when you’re done. You make sweatin fun to watch. 🥸👍👀🚜✅
I'm really dinging the black yellow tonka truck look👍
Boy, I can hear those bees swarming around you! Yuck you’re great at figuring out how to make things work, keep the videos, coming and thank you
Cap’n, Cap’n, Cap’n…. You savvy fella. You can make some money with this thing. Not DP sized stuff, but a small pond here, a building pad there… It’s an idea
A couple of extra long bolts with the heads cut off really helps to guide those weights on when having to wrestle them on by yourself. New subscriber!!
Captain, you really amazed me! 😊
You accomplished a ton of work.
Cant wait to see what job you picked up and see the 555 in action making you some $$
555 is coming along great!
"Trucked up to a job"All that fancy pants painting makes more sense now
Awesome job Mike I am glad to see you’re not wearing your safety crocs☝🏼🫤😁
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Progress looks great, found myself wishing I lived down the street so I could visit and help you when you needed an extra long arm and similar situations. Wishing you and your family the best.
Captain by this Favorite Work, to repair Machine. Your Face to Shine from Joy
Always enjoy your videos Can't Wate to see the 555 on the job, best of luck.
You and me both!
Keep it rolling 💪😁 thanks for sharing
Leg day..well done on the backhoe.
Great job considering you had no help and very little to work with. I always enjoy your videos. Keep em coming.
Thanks 👍
Your welds are looking a lot better. I would put anti seize on all of the bolts including the wheel studs.👍
And 2 bolts later you are doing a tinman cosplay lol
Really enjoy watching you work so hard. You family must really be proud of you. Keep safe.
You always figure out a way to work with what you have. Good video. I can't wait to hear about the next project
Adapt and overcome......always great to watch your videos.
I'm not a welder, i just play one on tv. 🤣🤣🤣
Looks good to me. 👍
Looks great 👍
At least you vertical weld from bottom to top unlike most u tubers. Don't fret about appearance, penetration is key.
I noticed that as well. He also used 6011 to start, then fill with 7018 which is exactly what my J.D. backhoe service manual says to do. Preheating is advised. I haven't used 7018 but love the 7014 which I can lay a nice bead with and never had a weld break.
Always great watching the channel Captain!!! Thanks 👍💪
It’s going to be good Mike you did your best and you got it! That’s all that matters brother! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 tip, drag the rod horizontal just like flat but drag it faster brother! 👌🏻
Lookin good so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moving right along Captain!
Thumbs up! Just stay safe with all those heavy weights!!
This project is looking great. I put the leftover primer into a jug for future use. Sometimes you make my back hurt. Stay safe
Loving this series!
Who in their left mind would want to miss what's coming up Captain?!!! We wait with eyes wide open for the next video from you!! As always thank you very much for bringing us along on your adventures!!!
Hay Mike! Great video! I was grunt'n for ya when you were struggling with getting the bottom weight up in place! It's definitely one of those time you need a third arm! Looking forward to the next installment. Lee
For future reference Mike you can buy one gallon jugs of phosphoric acid at many farm and ranch type stores. This is the active ingredient in naval jelly or nav jelly. It turns rusted surfaces into a paintable surface. I’ve got a vid showing this, restoring a old wood burning stove. 🍻 By the way, love your sense of humor.
The point being the acid creates a chemical reaction with the rust, which turns it into a primed paintable surface. Very inexpensive and great results vs. paints and primers. Just knock off loose rust with wire wheel, apply acid, and paint.
Interesting, I did not know that
Yeah, I used that to prepare the surface of really old and really rusty disc harrow for painting. Paint's still holding up well a few years later, and that's in the tropics... Magic stuff!
Everyone, what you are witnessing is called the ingenuity of a firefighter! I know from personal experience that giving the time and some tools, they can get anything done.
10:51 who else looked around their room, thinking where’s that damn fly?
The paint looks great! the thing is going to look like new in no time......well...Ritchie Bros. new, but hey the rust will be stopped.
wow!!! THE BUMBLEbEE IS LOOKING gooood!!! kUDOS TO you cAPTAIN.
And Empty wallet ( like mine!) is the mother of inventtion. you learn how to make things and make do, and get the job done. you are right on course with that logic and doing great . Keep up the good work. can't wait for the next video Thanks for sharing. ECF
A tack weld between the jack swivel plate and the counter weight keeps it centered until it's mounted, then you can grind it out to separate the lifting tool later
nice 2 see paint going on 4 this project
While watching the first half of this video..... All I could hear was... 🎶 Dumb ways to Die 🎶. 😂
🤣🤣 always in my head
One step at a time Mike it's getting there. Looking good, Keep smilin.
Thanks!
Mike, I have to say I love your enthusiasm and energy on your videos. It makes me want to take on projects that I have shied away from because of inexperience and thoughts of failure. Take it on and learn!!!
Great video! your backhoe is looking Awesome! Love watching your videos. :)
Cap’n I know why you are so good at doing your own stunts… you had plenty of practice doing them on DP’s channel…. I guess that technically makes you a Professional Stunt Man!
I hate it when the bolt bin is all mixed up… one inconsiderate dude dropping the wrong bolt in there costs me an extra trip to town. But… on the other hand, I get to take another trip to the farm store… and for me it’s almost as much fun as a trip to the mall for my daughters!
great progress, wish i could have been there to give you a hand when you needed it, you are very resourceful when working alone,be safe out there.👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
Once upon a time (91?) I built a mold for and put in place a 10,000 pound lead balast in a big sailboat. That was really hard and a bit frightening.
As always, Mike, I enjoyed catchin' yer video this morning with my mornin' cupp'a jo! She's comin' along nicely and good luck on your 'real world application' coming up! See ya next time!
Now if you had needle gun that’s what we used to smooth the welding before painting and it will look awesome Mike! Just a few tips I learned when doing coded welding, because the clean up on coded welds makes the difference! They want a cosmetic finish and we always use tactics to cosmetically cover imperfections! It takes time but that’s what they want to see! Coded welds are insured to be perfect because they’re human lives at risk out in the field! Just explaining the process brother! As long as you keep the weld clean you shouldn’t have any problems! I did that for over 20 brother , thanks for sharing and great job Mike! Sending prayers and good vibes to you and your family! Kirk from Louisiana! 👋🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Backhoe is looking good Mike. If you’ve got a piece of equipment that looks like a piece of sh1t, you tend to use it and treat it like that. If it looks good, you tend to look after it a bit better. Good on ya! Cheers Bloke!!!
Thanks! Slow but sure
I don't know Jack about welding, but I'm impressed by how you filled the gaps up.
You did good on the weld but on the final pass watch the puddle and try it in a figure 8 to swing the weld puddle up.
Looking good Captain
amazing what LIPSTICK and MAKEUP can do for a pig ! she look'n better ! I enjoy watching you do this work , not to dramatic but appriciates when things go as planed , or close as possible
Captain Kleeman, I can't wait to see the quick attachment go on the tractor. Thats what I need to do soon.😊
Good.job😄👍👍👏👏👏cool tractors
