This guy must've been the stone in policeman shoes. You can't look at him and think of anything that is not peace, love and flowers and stuff. Illuminated.
? Everyone i knew, all the surfers, all the kids, all the dopers, all the sane ( which is as you know a separate category, including some of any nameable identity). Do you not think of this now? There are blizzards and mountains to solo climb, waves and wind and seas, others so large that humans are insignificant, tiny beyond what you may believe.
Remember John at the Canned Heat in Hyde Park, London, concert on 12th September 1970. After an extremely rainy morning, he sang "Here Comes The Sun" when the sun came out & the rest was just wonderful with The Bear (Bob Hite) jumping on the stage that was flexing with his moves. One of the best concerts I have ever seen and a wonderful memory that will live with me until the end of my life which is not so far away given that I am now 70.
These are the kind of songs you listen to one day and gets stuck in your head for like a whole week. Same happened to me with "did you ever have to make up your mind".
Was driving home today somehow this song pops in mind, I can hear whistling in my ear. When I got home clicked on RUclips and ahhhhhhhh.......I'm back to the past.
This is someone who just oozes musicality...so simple and yet so hard to do convincingly. And for the few imitators who might say they can do an amazing cover (and yes I do envy you), let’s not forget he invented the song and the performance....and a few others. Thanks for posting this video by the way.
I love this song on my IPOD in my kitchen for when I'm cooking and cleaning up while checking out the natural world through my window and breathing in the scents of the season.
There are still many wonderful musicians - but you'll have to go to pubs, festivals, or gigs to hear them - they'll rarely get an airing on the commodified, production line that is commercial music in the capitalist world.
This song makes me so happy ☀️ I've known it for a while but never seen the singer until now. I know nothing about John Sebastian (yet) but he looks like he had a good time here 🎶
Oh my, I loved this song so much. And I was just a child then. I think it was the happiness this song emanated that I loved so much. I guess that's why I still remember it.
Den hätte ich gerne mal kennengelernt, so freundlich und liebenswert wie der immer lächelt! I would have loved to get to know him, as friendly and lovable as he always smiles!
went to a lot of these BBC concerts....our youth club got tickets.....if they didnt have enough people they scoured the corridors and roped in anyone they could find
JOHN SEBASTIAN. .DAYDREAM. FOR LOVING SPOONFUL. ..ABSOLUTELY. FAMOUS 60S. 70S. THEY HAVE. THE BEATLES INFLUENCE. .. FANTASTIC. ......PSYCHEDELIC ERA... HIPPIE.. TIME. WOOSTOOK. . IN THE YEAR 69. THAT ALL THE MUSIC. WAS AN EXPLENDOR. . REALLY. LOVE IT
Hmm... I don't hear any Beatles influence here. In fact, I don't hear any on most of their songs. Summer in the City sure doesn't sound like any Beatles song.
Sweet nostalgic memories of John Sebastian and the loving spoonful folk-rock troubadour along with Bob dylan and Peter Paul and Mary, and the mamas and papas.
John Sebastian was without question one of the best singer/songwriters of the era - an era with an unusually large number of quality artists. The best Spoonful stacks up quite well next to anything contemporary, even by the fabs. This is a great performance, vocally especially. He didn't have much success after Spoonful, but not many 60's acts survived long into the 70's. If you like this and Spoonful, give NRBQ a try. They're kinda in the same ballpark. The Peek-a-boo best-of is a great place to start...
I always liked this tune. However, on seeing this clip, I realize three distinct reasons he needed arrested: 1. Falling on the face in newly mowed lawn- drunk in public, trespassing 2. Delinquent on dues 3. Fashion Police arrest. My God, John- I know Lennon wore those glasses, but as far as I remember only Crusty the Clown wore those pants... Great clip, Thanks for Sharing, The Route19!
Played harmonica for Doors Roadhouse Blues. Was a friend of Mirrisons. Cass Elliot. Those had to be some great conversations. Morrison was usally well behaved in most settings. His love of our irish curses was done off the beaten path.
@@JimAndDeePatton I know he had this style since 1965 or earlier, and Lennon started appearing with the round glasses in late '66. I don't think that's a case of one copying another. It's just the style of those days, aswell as the hair, the glasses or the beard. These looks and John Lennon's is just a coincidence, altought I and our fellow friends could say they're similar.
Imagine a world where everyone was filled with this much joy.
I was there in the sixties SWINGING LONDON teenager it was FAAAARRRR OUT MAN! XXX
Never happen...ever.
He got on very well with the MonaLisa Twins - they have something of his joie de vivre!
I do !
All you can ever do is imagine. We make life too complicated for it to ever be that good.
I love that you can always hear the smile on his face

Wow. Way to make it so, so gay. Ew.

Anyone else notice he has a cheerful grin on his face throughout the entire performance, man positivity is contagious i swear 🤗
'Jeerful'?
@@YorkyOne hahaha auto correct, no need to worry I fixed the grammatical error.
Good Mexican weed back in the day, 😊
And the acid 😊
I absolutely adore John Sebastian. He´s just so cool and he composed so many cool songs! How can one not love him?
I 💜 him totally
He's so beautiful 😍 inside and out! Much love J.S.!
Yes
The positive feeling of this song can be life saving.
From the moment the song started I could not stop smiling. What a treat.
SAME, first time I've smiled forwards anything in years man.... It's awesome

Nashville Cats has been in my head for six months now. Please make it stop!
yeahhhh
One of the most underrated songwriters. He never needed co-writers! And he sounds AMAZING live
Underrated by who?
@@wildbillhackett They probably meant underrated in the sense that he isn’t well-known.
Never underrayed unless by You.
Don't use that word except in relation to your own ignorance.

I think John Denver, and John Sebastian are my two favourites 😂
I used to sing Rain on the Roof to my daughters at bedtime. One of his very best.
great showman with personality very hard to find today
This is feel good music. The whistle gets me every time.

A 'Class Act', without a doubt! Superbly talented young man.
Genius. Thank You Mr. Sebastian.
This song makes me so happy ☀️ I've known it for a while but never seen the singer until now. I know nothing about John Sebastian (yet) but he looks like he had a good time here 🎶
He was the lead singer for The Lovin Spoonful. He also had a big hit on his own with the theme from Welcome Back Kotter.
John is great! What a talent, what a song! This song is amazing, pure, peaceful...
One of my all time favourite songs.....
This song has been in my head since I heard it the first time.
What a cool and talented fella, Absolute gentleman too! ❤️
This made my morning!
I've been listening to his music since I was a kid. Always joyful to hear him. He's written some great songs.
Those WERE the days!
amazing..you could learn everything about everything thats worth knowing from this one performance
prodigiously talented guy.
This is so awesome!
This is simply gorgeous!

I remember being so distracted by The Beatles and not giving enough attention to other singers like these
One l👀k at John Sebastian singin’ this here tune…will make you smile bigger than the Milky Way!! 😃
What a tune for a day-tune
Awesome.
This bloke is that good he can even whistle in tune 👍
John Sebastian is a National treasure.
I just love watching this guy, musical ability is only a bonus.

Perfect for Lockdown. The birds have started tweeting outside to John Sebastion's whistles!

Reminds me of summer days and some Country Time in soup like cans.
Funny isnt it!? Found this song in a hallmark birthday card at walgreens, since that moment I cant get it of my mind!!
August 1970 a few days before his appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival
Music as it should be....

Nice
when you have a nothing day and daydream God will paint a masterpiece he wants you to complete
I'm old enough to remember the first screening of this concert ( I wonder if the rest of it is gathering dust in BBC's vaults?)
He looks like the John Lennon early '68 style.
exactly what I thought!
More like Ray Mazurek from the Doors ....
No. John Sebastian had this look and John Lennon copied him. Do some research. I was around and I remember it well. The Doors came even later.
Took the words right out of my mouth!
