      no one assumes anything - they always discuss taking the best AVG. of a group of shots. They might hit 10 and take the best/most consistent 5 or 6. Just like you wouldn't buy a ball/club based on your worst swings - but on your best!

    • @davidmaxfieldgolf
      @davidmaxfieldgolf 4 года назад +3

      David Ciccoritti i would think they’d be much the same. Matt has a fast swing speed so that’s where these balls fit perfectly but for anyone under 105mph then the RXS and RX are still tour balls and would likely have the same results. I think main difference is just compression

    • @seancook2264

      I am testing the RX at the moment. Swing speed is on the cusp so will be interested to see comparison. Putting the RX up against TP-5; AVX and Pro V1 for gaming the rest of the season. Might also throw B-XS into the mix. Sort of looking for something that feels soft off putter and wedges like AVX and lower flatter ball flight with short and mid irons but has a higher ball flight on 5i; 4H and up and spins around the greens 🦄

    I’ve played both Pro-V’s, Chrome Soft’s, TP-5’s, and Bridgestone’s over the last 10 years, and the B-X has me shooting the best scores of my life since I was a scratch player in my late teens-early 20’s. I’m hitting it the longest, straightest, and with the most control, ever. I can fade it, draw it, knock-it-down, hit shots that release a bit, hit shots that drop and stop, and hit shots that back-up, if needed. This is the most complete and best ball I’ve ever hit. The XS does everything that B-X does, but for me, it’s not as accurate; however, it’s longer (5-10 yards)...? It also seems more scuff resistant than the other balls mentioned and is by far the best in the wind, all for $15-20 less than a dozen Pro-V’s... I’m a higher spin player so it makes sense that the X is better for me. Average driver distance: 270ish; 7 iron: 165ish; 50 degree wedge: 115ish. A couple of older guys in our golf group switched to the RX and say it’s the best ball they’ve ever hit, too. If you’re not completely satisfied with your ball’s performance, give one of Bridgestone’s new balls a try.

    All I can say is I've played golf for 35 years and Titleist has been my go to ball. I've played the Pro V1 ever since it came out. 3 months ago I tried the RBX and will be playing it from now on. I think Titleist has a serious competitor.

    Really excited to see you guys test these on short pitches. I compared 2019 BXS to Chrome Soft X and the response was night and day. CSX sometimes gave me weird ones that would rocket off the face, but BXS was so predictable and had noticeably higher stopping power (even on ~15 ft bumps). People are saying the 2020’s are even crazier with stopping power, but don’t sleep on the 2019’s either! The 2019 BX has also been a fantastic ball on windy days, so I can’t wait to see the 2020’s in action!

    I’ve been playing the XS since the start of the year and it’s hands down my favorite ball I’ve ever played. It seems to just jump off the face while being controllable off irons and wedges.

    One thing to note about the different between the two 7-irons, the BXS stopped on the green 2 yards faster. If you're attacking pins, that's a difference of a putt by as much as 6 feet, or a 4ft versus 10ft putt. That's a game changer to me.

    Oh my.... played the Tour B x for the first time today. Seems to have it all. Long off the driver and good response around the greens. Had been gaming the XS too soft but a lot of spin. I didn't like the feel off the putter the X solves that problem. Going to say it the X is one of the best balls ever. Wish they would print the logo in the same spot on every ball though( the onpy thing wrong with the ball.

    I'm interested in the last part of your discussion. I'm a high swing speed player that over-spins irons and switched to an AVX last year. Gained half a club and accuracy with irons but lost 5-10 yards with the driver I didn't really need

  • @Middle850

    I started playing the B330RX about 3 years ago and have continued. For my game (12 handicap) they work really well. Driver, soft feel around greens and irons, and for me not too spiny typically on full iron shots one hop and stop. I’ve played ProV1’s and they are clearly great golf balls but B330’s are about $10 less and work better for me. This might sound dumb but ProV1’s are “too” spiny on the greens I had consistenty problem with chips checking up quick then sometimes not, and full shots spinning too much making a good shot then left 12-15’ or out after it spun. I highly recommend B330rx for average golfer who swing speed is as the box says 90 mph to right at 100 or a little more

    The TP5X was the ball of choice for years. After extensively testing (on course) the premium line of Srixon, Taylormade and Bridgestone, the latter is a legitimate zero compromise ball. You either want/need more or less spin, cause the thing is gonna fly for any competent player.

    Iron Byron has a new ball. He almost backspins a HIO with his wedge. He almost HIOs with his driver.

    Agree with the last part...need to test in 'real life' conditions as last year's Tiger ball was very floaty off the driver in the wind. Big Cat says it's better in the wind so that's obviously a great endorsement

    Great video as always. The only element that could’ve added to this test would’ve been sub 100 yard wedge shots and a comparison to last year’s. The big tech advancement was the reactiv urethane, and the sub 100 yard shots could have helped illustrate the difference.

    Good video, fellas! I've actually preordered the 2020 B-RX balls. First time I've ever done that with...well, anything in golf equipment. The B-RX has been such a great ball for me. I was blown away by the consistency of performance of all four 2019 balls in both the MGS test and the Today's Golfer test. I look forward to see the testing at normal human swing speeds for the B-RX and B-RXS. Sorry, Matty. I don't mean to imply that you are not human. You are totally a human. And let's not forget that Ian can pound 'em out there to 315, too!!

    Switching between the B-RXS (softer feel) and TP5-Pix (for easy identification). I think the TP5 is maybe slightly longer with driver and spins slightly more on mid iron. Still undecided on feel off the putter face. Like the soft feel of the B-RXS but depends as I switch between a Del Mar and Phantom X 8.5. Can feel the miss on the putter face a little more with the TP5.

    Interesting! I just started to play the BXS after a mini fitting session at a range recently. I've ended up loving the ball from the 7 iron down, so much more control than the Z Star XV I was playing. The z star is a little more stable in the wind and has a slightly better flight off a 4 iron IMO. But, I had to drop driver from 10* down to 9* and adjust the weight balance of my Rogue SZ to get the driver spin back to normal level. Very glad to have made the changes though. As a single figure handicap player my feedback is that it's the best premium ball I've ever played for < 80m by quite some margin in all conditions except a hot and dry tightly mown greens where the Pro V still bites the best by a hair.

    I agree that is a significant difference between two balls of equal compression. Since you showed the average, was the XS always slower? It wasn't a strike issue skewing the numbers? Also would love to see the R series tested to compare ball speeds especially with the whole "softer is slower" argument.

      I switched to BX this year to lower driver spin...and I had immediately noticed much less spin on the wedges and short game. I miss the softer feel of the BXS, and I feel like my wedge game is more valuable than 500 RPM less on a driver. Plus I did just get fitted for new driver and spin on there is back in manageable range. But I feel you on this comment. I will probably do a test like this as the range, but would love to get back to the XS for me for short game needs.

    A great review like always. The Tour BX total distance should have been just as far as the BXS or more, but Matt's last drive with the BX stuck the green at 320 yards (longest carry) and maybe rolled 5-6 yds. All the other drives landed right before the green and rolled on average 20 yds. They need to move the green 10 yds back, for Matty. The BX carried 2 yds more, but 3 yds less in total distance?

Worries me a bit because I have distance that I am willing to sacrifice for straightness. Late comment, however if there were some 2019 balls laying around, it would be nice to see a side-by-side comparison. I know I felt/perceived/saw a difference, both good and bad, between the PRO V1 and TP5 from a couple years ago with last year's version. Wondering if that's just me or if there is some truth to that. Not that we can still get previous year's models, however if there is a difference it might be good for consumers to understand in the testing.

      The XS is noticeably softer than the X. I play the X because it’s suits my overall game better, but I actually like the softer feel of the XS on the putter.

    Wouldn’t you want to go with the ball that spins more with low irons/wedges and less with driver? The BXS had more overall distance with less ball speed. Or does the extra driver spin help hit more fairways?

    Question: I’ve heard it said that Tiger prefers golf balls with more spin because he likes to work the ball. That seems counter intuitive to the notion that spin creates stability in flight. Are both correct?

      makes it easier for him to hit high spinning shots around the greens, wouldn't help him curve the golf ball

    I work for Bridgestone but not in the golf ball part. In our company store they charge us more for the golf balls then I could buy at any retail store.

    Just out of curiosity how come you guys don’t test shorter shots say 50-75 yards? I’d really be interested to see the difference there.

    Weren't these the company that stopped supplying Bridgestone balls to the UK a year or so back? I had to switch to another m/for, and now they would like us back eh?

    Just tested the BXS last weekend in the UK (London Golf Club), they did perform quite well. So curious what you guys come up with review wise;

    Im confused by the reviews I have seen and even the packaging, says theyre for 105 MPH club head speed and above, I am noew to golf so don't think I will be any where near that yet I found one (BXS) and hit really well, far and straight.
