    I have been playing the XV the last two seasons and the difference after testing FOR MY GAME ... it fit what I needed. Low spin from driver. Mid spin from irons. High or mid spin from wedges and bunkers AND great firm feel putting. No other ball has given me this for me. .... also performs well in wind.

    Been playing the Z Star for a few years now. I always felt like they were soft but still had some pop to them. I feel the biggest difference when I putt with something else . I will find a Titleist Pro V1 or Chrome Soft and play them a bit just to see what I think and it always screws with my distance control. This is the second review I’ve seen where the XV spun more.

  • @MrAhuraMazda

    The Z Star and the Tour Response are the two best balls on the market IMO. Even better than the top dogs, which is a bit odd from TM's standpoint.

    • @tomlaw8821
      @tomlaw8821 3 года назад +2

      @@iLovettGolf I like it better because it has a lower compression so you get effortless distance. Also it is way WAY softer and it still has a urethane skin so it has the bite on wedge shots. I have many Tp5 laying around that I practice with, but I LOVE playing with the tour response!

  • @jumbotron3492
    @jumbotron3492 3 года назад

    I just purchased a box of the z star and used it to practice my wedges and putter. I wouldn’t call it pro V1 feel, but definitely stays consistent on my chips. Rolls nicely off the face and distance feedback is nice. And my flops are fair.

  • @cameronloveless1751
    @cameronloveless1751 3 года назад +2

    Not sure there has been a “flip” by Srixon. In mygolfspy’s 2019 robotball testing the XV had more spin on full wedge shots and 7 iron than standard Z star, but less spin on Driver. This was true for different swing speeds also.

      @canyonaro 3 года назад +4

      The color does have an effect. Titleist did a lot of work to make their yellow perform exactly the same as the white version. If Srixon didn't change anything, it's not surprising that there's some durability difference. Good for you that the yellow one is more durable!

    Hi Guys,
    Love the wide range of content you produce. Would be cool if you completed a video on the effects of different levels of golf ball wear. For example, unblemished vs. one set of groove marks vs. a whole round's worth of groove marks vs. cart path scuff, etc. There is a lot of info out there on aerodynamics and effects of dimples, but I can't find anything that compares ball flights, spin rates, carry distances, etc. over different levels of golf ball wear.

    Any chance you guys could get a more "average" golfer to do some of these tests? Maybe someone who isn't swinging 90+ mph?? 75-89 perhaps? it would be nice for us average guys to know how these items perform for us.

      Results are linear. My Golf Spy proved that years ago. They tested every ball and have charts on charts on charts of data and analysis showing it. The idea of compression and swing speed is almost entirely a marketing myth. What you see at 115 mph is exactly what you see at 85 mph for results, just linearly scaled to distances reflective of the difference in distance produced due to speed.

    Titleist/Srixon/Snell/Vice.... does it REALY make a difference to 95% of us... I think not, unless of course you cant get over your ego. Titliest has been the benchmark no doubt. That said however, it’s 2021 and tech is relatively easy. Most of us will never play well enough to justify the cost disparity. As I have said in previous comments, Snell and/or Vice are the smart choice. Only my opinion.

      I play Snell MTB blacks and it lines up well with my swing speed. The Srixon XVs are even marketed for 100+ mph swing speeds. Matti can easily do that, but not sure why they think that’s relative to a slower swing? Love if they had a 3 hdcp 95 mph tester.

    Totally disagree on durability. The z star VI had horrible durability. The serm cover was wayyyy to soft and gooey. I hope they toughened it up a bit.

      Agree completely. I tried 2 dozen of the z star xv this past month and it’s definitely not as durable as my gamers(tp5 and tour b xs)

    Since Callaway has (rather comically) claimed they now make better balls than Titleist Pro V1... perhaps you can get a sleeve of the new Callaway Wobblesoft balls to test. PPE recommended! Goggles and padding for the erratic flights and hips waders for the knee deep marketing bullsh*t that flows from that company!
