Absolute perfect timing on the ball testing, I’ve always leaned toward the srixon xv but do love a ball change every now and then. Thank you for this content much easier to narrow my search !
I have been playing the XV the last two seasons and the difference after testing FOR MY GAME ... it fit what I needed. Low spin from driver. Mid spin from irons. High or mid spin from wedges and bunkers AND great firm feel putting. No other ball has given me this for me. .... also performs well in wind.
Interesting results. I used Z-Star XV last season and was considering regular Z-star this year, but seems like I will be happier staying XV for exactly the reasons this test showed. Thanks.
used the xv today in extreme high cross winds and i played surprisingly straight, playing partners suffered bas in the wind with various othe top brands
Z-Star ist for me a perfec feeling Golf ball- I just love the performance and use it for ages. The TP5 comes close but the feeling of the Z-Star when you have a pure iron shot is just superb and no other golf ball can compete. I just love it.
Love them! Here in sweden where it can be a bit cool, i play the XV when its hot and the "regular" v start when its not. That gives me a simular feel and preformace regardless of temp... 👌
I’ve been playing the Z-star due to colder weather and to up my spin, and save money instead of playing ProV1X, but might have to give the XV a try first!
Love these ball tests. Played the yellow XV for most of the last year before switching to the Bridgestone B RX and always loved it. A ball fitting is what I'm looking forward to most I think when I one day make the pilgrimage to TXG
Been using the Srixon Z-Star XV Yellow for about 6 months now, I like the look and feel of the yellow! I recently won our club championship and when I look back the improvement came not long after changing to the XV, I will be moving to the new model in the next month, I still have 1/2 dozen of the old ones left !!
I game both these, I have a good stock of both, very durable, stable and good stopping power on the greens, prefer the softer Z star over the Z star XV.
Been playing the Z Star for a few years now. I always felt like they were soft but still had some pop to them. I feel the biggest difference when I putt with something else . I will find a Titleist Pro V1 or Chrome Soft and play them a bit just to see what I think and it always screws with my distance control. This is the second review I’ve seen where the XV spun more.
@@iLovettGolf I like it better because it has a lower compression so you get effortless distance. Also it is way WAY softer and it still has a urethane skin so it has the bite on wedge shots. I have many Tp5 laying around that I practice with, but I LOVE playing with the tour response!
I just purchased a box of the z star and used it to practice my wedges and putter. I wouldn’t call it pro V1 feel, but definitely stays consistent on my chips. Rolls nicely off the face and distance feedback is nice. And my flops are fair.
Not sure there has been a “flip” by Srixon. In mygolfspy’s 2019 robotball testing the XV had more spin on full wedge shots and 7 iron than standard Z star, but less spin on Driver. This was true for different swing speeds also.
Another awesome episode guys! Thank you for the content. I’m wondering, would you consider running tests on regular old range balls? It might sound weird, but I’m always curious to know what I’m giving up on a range ball, especially if I’m used to hitting Pro-V1s on the course. Please keep the content coming! 👍
Been playing this ball for years. It goes on sale for 50% off at times and I buy 20 boxes. It’s spins when you want and I dont have issues with 20 ft back spin on greens like some premium balls.
Great review. I’ve had the new XV in the bag the past few weeks. I really want to love this ball, but the cover wear is horrendous! I honestly can’t believe how bad the cover it. Every ball, a crack appears around the middle of the ball after a hole or 2. Madness.
The white durability is just okay, but the yellow xv is fantastic. I even called Srixon, and they assured me it's the same cover, but I swear they're different.
The color does have an effect. Titleist did a lot of work to make their yellow perform exactly the same as the white version. If Srixon didn't change anything, it's not surprising that there's some durability difference. Good for you that the yellow one is more durable!
I played the last Z-Star. I liked it. I didn't have major durability issues but after switching to Bridgestone Tour BX I can say that if you hit a tree or bounce of a cart path, the Tour BX holds up better. If you're a better golfer than me that's probably not an issue haha
TXG went from being my every now and then to literally my morning paper. This is how people get married. I want to marry TXG's opening credits. Say I do
Hi Guys, Love the wide range of content you produce. Would be cool if you completed a video on the effects of different levels of golf ball wear. For example, unblemished vs. one set of groove marks vs. a whole round's worth of groove marks vs. cart path scuff, etc. There is a lot of info out there on aerodynamics and effects of dimples, but I can't find anything that compares ball flights, spin rates, carry distances, etc. over different levels of golf ball wear. Keep doing good things 👍
Hi! Interesting test, i've used the Z Star XV for many years now and i love the feel off the driver and also the putter. It would be great to get your thoughts on how they feel off the putter!
I like the XV. I enjoy the feel of the firmer strike. It maybe mental, but the firmness makes it feel like a more solid strike, even on mishits. Great ball for a great price in my opinion. Great review gents!
From a Strokes gained perspective, giving up 300rpms on a 1/2 wedge seems like an easy tradeoff for 6 yards of Driver Carry - would be very interesting to hear about any Srixon Pro that would choose not to make that choice
The Z Star has always given me great distance with driver,I’m keen to try the new ball. Good value for money. Titleist Pro V’s are outstanding but they’re so expensive.
Could you guys review the noodle? As someone who loses balls I generally gravitate to them as they’re cheap, but I wonder how much it’s affecting my game.

I play Snell MTB blacks and it lines up well with my swing speed. The Srixon XVs are even marketed for 100+ mph swing speeds. Matti can easily do that, but not sure why they think that’s relative to a slower swing? Love if they had a 3 hdcp 95 mph tester.
